Title: Modify field bone structure?
Post by: BloodShot on 2010-03-28 06:33:15
I'd like to know if there is any way to modify the bone structure/skeleton of field models - namely cloud because i would like to have a more realistically proportioned model that the

animations actually match up with. It's annoying using a field cloud such as the AC cloud and having the arms pop out, but if i fix the arm position with kimera it messes up his other

animations - such as brushing his hair back, crossing his arms, etc.

How would i go about fixing that so i could have the proportions better without the animation f*ing up?

That can be done in 2 ways...

you can either go into the original (the 'lego' model) of Cloud, and adjust the bone length of all his bones until you have it 'right' for the model you want to replace it with.

Now, this itself is a decent way as now, the individual file parts move at the joints instead of halfway down his arm or something.

or, you can go into all of the animations, and change them to be more realistic, which i admit is needed for some animations, such as the idle standing one.

Be careful changing Cloud's animations.  Some of them are shared by other NPCs

animation 0 would be awesome if it was changed to a "breathing" animation, as opposed to just one frame.

If I remember correctly, the field animations are much easier to create from scratch because they use static frames and don't use bitstream deltas like in the battle animations. That could be a starting point.

When modifying the bone structure, is there any way to move the actual joints of the bones in kimera instead of just rotating and changing their length? If there is, it would make it

easier to make arms closer together and still match the anims.

EDIT:
hmm, strange - i changed the bone structure in kimera to stop the arms from pointing outwards, and it shows them in kimera by his side - but ingame its back to the super outward

original position. does it only change how animations act and do i have to rotate the body parts myself like i did before to change the position of the model pieces or am i just doing

something wrong?

I have same poblem. But cant edit anymore. With latest kimera somehow with kula wende's high res field cloud. My ram goes to 80%+ and I have 2 GB.  :o

were you able to actually modify the positions of the bones in kimera cause all i've figured out how to do is change the scale.

I ran in to this problem too.  That standing animation you edit is only briefly shown when moving from a walk to standstill IIRC.  Unfortunately I can't remember which animation I edited to change it

Try switching back to kimera 0.91 - 0.95b has some memory usage problems when editing field models, and its even gone as far as locking my computer up (I have 6gb ram and a

core i7 920). I only use .95b for battle models, and 0.91 for field.

You can rotate them in infinite directions and shorten and lengthen them.  So if that's what you're asking, then yes.

Just check on the second to last page on the kimera thread.

Hmm a mod like this could work very well with the Reunion patch which seems to be getting quite a bit of attention recently.
