This is a little ridiculous. I understand "banned for life" but even if Mako is the same person, that's three years ago... seems just a TAD ridiculous if you ask me.
-
Well, yes. For that reason. Had to make sure part of my evidence wouldn't disappear on me.
I've never felt so bad about banning someone, actually. I shed a tear. Or more than one.
It's just that masteraden (in his various forms of typing that name) is banned for life. He annoyed the admins pretty badly, about three years ago.
And well... I have a rather considerable amount of proof suggesting that Mako might be masteraden. No, you can't have it. It contains not only email addresses, but also personal, real life information. I did spend a better part of day putting it all together.
Mako claims that she is not, and stuck to her story to the very end. Which was very amicable, I might add. She behaved in very civilized, ladylike manner through my entire questioning.
While certainly within realms of possibility, I consider her story to be way too unlikely to be true. And there doesn't seem to be a way for her to prove she is not masteraden - she asked if there was one, and I honestly can't figure out one. Especially in the light of the facts I know.
So, I didn't really have a choice. We do ban for life. And in masteraden's case SaiNt even spelled that out - I think he pissed the admins off most majorly.
This could either be a case of very unfortunate circumstances leading to injustice, or a former troll making amends.
In either case, I'm sad to see her go; regardless of whether she is her own person, or a persona created by the person behind masteraden, she didn't cause any trouble during her time here - quite the opposite, she was quite nice person, whom I rather liked. She actually did something for the forums - something most of you don't know.
I implemented an IP ban in case this is masteraden making a comeback, but I left the reading permissions there, so she can follow the progress of what is happening here, should she choose to do so.
In any case, I will certainly miss her. Regardless of what the truth behind this might be.
There was one thing she asked of me, before she said goodbye; she asked me to not make fun of her - especially using her photos. Which I promised to her. Not that I would have been planning on doing such things, for that matter. I intend to keep that promise. And not only that, I intend to make sure that none of you does that, either. You'll risk my wrath, if you try. I can be a very, very angry person, remember that.
Goodbye Mako, you will be missed.
-
 I will certainly miss "her" only because I enjoyed what she brought to the forum during the time that I was personally following Mako's work. For whatever short time that was.
-
This really is a disappointment. As somebody who managed to stay completely calm and collected even in the midst of hermoor, without trying to troll him back or feed him for fun as a number of other members did, she really was an asset to this forum. Though I understand that you had to do what you had to do.
edit: Lucky sevens!

...wow

Now that this has been made it's own thread, I feel I should point out again, that it's been three years. People do a lot of changing and growing up in such a large amount of time.
EDIT FOR GRAMMAR

I agree with this. Myself, I'm a lot different to how I was 2 or 3 years ago, so I can definately relate.

Absolutely right. People do change. Even though the SaiNt said "banned for life" there is always an override via admin powers. It's like... You atone for your actions. Mako was a good person all throughout the entire time Mako was Mako.
Question: Wasn't masteraden a male and Mako a female? Maybe this was a rather dumb question to ask.
-
masteraden was 3 years ago? Oh wow......
Hmm i dont think i ever really interacted with her, but it is indeed sad to see someone else go :-(
EDIT: Yeah it was, April 2007.
-
I say this not only to you, Ammo, but to whomever it may concern:
I for one, with whatever little influence I may have around here, move for a pending exception to the "Banned for life" mandate. I haven't been around long enough to know this "masteraden" character but I see no ill will, spam, trolling, or mal-conduct of any kind--rather only a contributing member of the Qhimm forums in Mako. She's even earned a place in the credits of my "FFVII Remix Patch" due to her fixing of the Spanish font textures.
I understand that it's not really in my place to say anything regarding the matter since I don't have all of the facts, but is it too much to give the benefit of the doubt?
EDIT: If this is worth any persuasion, this was posted on KM's Youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/KudistosMegistos) just recently:
Um never hermoor I am not like you...I am tired of being used by trolls turns out last night my boyfriend of a Very long time confessed along with his brother was masteraden. He is the fakest human being on the planet! He's not even in London! Liar/Cheater/Troll/Dis honest person. Had a very long night of crying as I feel used and alone in one night I was banned/cheated on/dumped and made fun of! The messed up thing is YOU! Leave me alone even though Ammo banned me he wouldn't have been Ammo if he didn't. I used a past-troll email credit card even let him use my account! And you wanna know how a typical troll acts they think its funny! I will never ever join you!
-
Well the thing is it was not Ammo who made the original call. It was The_Saint. So I think it is not Ammo's place to overrule another admin's bans. So short of the_saint coming back and lifting said lifetime ban i think Ammo did all he could do.
-
Well... Now it looks like Mako is in fact, a real person (good, I would've shed at least one tear if she wasn't real), but was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. So I guess it's time for the admins to discuss how this is gonna go down from here
:-o shit's going crazy 'round these parts
-
Well I certainly hope something just is done regarding the matter because if what she's said is true (which I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt on), then she doesn't deserve to take the blame for something that somebody else has done just by association.
-
Mako, though i spoke to her very little to none at all, was very polite and kind, i don't see personally why one cannot be given a second chance (im a big believer in it, as i've had my fair share in second chances in life)
-

This may sound cheeky so please, I'm begging you, don't take this the wrong way as I mean no disrespect - your "benefit of the doubt" doesn't matter. There is no way to be sure she/he is telling the truth, and the only person that can make a final decision is the Admin. It's best left alone unless you want to give yourself a migraine.
To be honest, as a skeptic - posting that on KM's youtube channel looks like a fantastic ploy to get the sympathy vote but that's just my opinion.

I'm a down to earth person, and you have an exactly valid point. My opinion is biased because I didn't know masteraden, but I'd kick myself if "Mako" were telling the truth. But when you look at it, some things don't add up and I'm aware of this. Her boyfriend was masteraden? He broke up with her? He cheated on her? Did all this happen at once? Why are we just now hearing about it? What are the odds?
The only reason I'm expressing my opinion to begin with is just a gut feeling caused by the manner in which Mako conducted herself..."herself".
EDIT:..."I'd kick"? did i really just type that? I meant to say I'd kick myself. Man I'm too tired today.

KM's youtube? Link pls

Just a small interlude from one of the admins; please don't jump to conclusions. We know more than you about this, and I think there might be an actual post coming from us, explaining some things. We just have to decide how much information we are willing to release - whatever the truth might be, we are not keen on releasing personal details, for example.
Also, there is more to this than meets the eye, at least I believe there is.
-
Well. Fuck me. Shit just got serious.
Not only did Mako attempt to talk Timu into letting her host his work - probably meaning the entire Team Avalanche. Which pretty much confirmed my suspicions that this was an attempt at a takeover (details to follow, right about now I don't feel much gentlemanly about her private info, either) - which had been my suspicion all along.
But I just got hijacked from our IRC channel by the server OPs.
Apparently we had acquired her financial information - this would mean credit card numbers and such. Only we have not, we are not interested in those, and for that matter; we have no way of doing that, either. Unless someone shows me how to grab CC-info via PayPal.
And I had intimidated her. Well, I did question her. It didn't seem very intimidating, considering that at end she said that she'd still like to be my friend, before saying goodbye.
And that I had mentioned her personal information on the channel. Sure. I did mention her and her husband's first names, leaving the rest out. Also, I mentioned their email addresses, up to the @-sing. That's about as much personal information I mentioned. Unless I forget something. But oh well, I have logs.
Had an interesting chat with the server OPs of Esper.net - it took them about minute or two to figure out that we accept donations via PayPal and can't possibly have her CC-info. We had few words about them personal details; my view differs from theirs in the sense that I do not see much harm in posting parts of them, and yes, I do see an use for it, when I'm questioning a former troll, who tries her hardest to evade me, and backs down only when I present her with more information. I actually am not sure if that breaches esper.net-policy, should probably check.
This was purely an attempt to cause harm to us, by her.
So, keep that in mind, when you read her sob stories.
Like I said, more details to follow, and I am very, very tempted to mention both her and her husband's actual details right about now.
PS. Lesson learned. You can't kickban server OPs. Ooops. ;D Sowwy about that, I thought someone was playing a prank on me. Also, you can't tell them apart from a normal user, at least with Miranda. Which might have added to possible confusion. :P
PPS. Attempting to kickban said OPs can apparently lead to glitches, either on the client or server end. Leading to kickban of Master himself and SL. Ooops. ;D Lesson number two learned. Also, you can apparently kickban an OP, like Master. Lesson number three. ;D I learned a lot today. :D
Oh well. No harm done. Except she pretty much proved what this was all about. Also, expect more of this. She won't stop here, that I'm sure of.

A takeover of what?
-
The entire forum. She offered to pay for the hosting, when the server was being flaky. Which would have of course meant that the domain would be transferred to her, and would be hers to do as she pleases. She was nice enough to promise that it would still be called Qhimm.com.
That was the thing that really raised red flags for me.
Very novel way of getting even with a forum that banned you once. Of course, she is loaded, so that - and her sizable donation - are pocket change for her.
-
So, what exactly happened with Masteraden back in the day?
I obviously wasn't around back then, and the fact that he deleted his first account makes it hard to find out everything he said publicly (let alone in PMs or on IRC). From what I could find (mostly what was posted by this incarnation (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?action=profile;u=3593) and a few topics started by his previous one), he seems pretty tame compared to Hermoor or even Seifer. Did he do something monstrous behind the scenes, or am I overestimating how hated he is by the mods?

Ah, so I take it that was what sparked the background check.

Well, that's just it. I think it's all there. I got a PM or two - mostly Seifer-level bitching. I think the dealbreaker was that he - apparently - kept complaining and complaining and complaining (about me, I'd assume) to admins, pointing to threads where he trolled himself. That's what got SaiNt angry.
At least I'm pretty sure he didn't do anything particularly remarkable, or I would remember it. I think.
Ah, so I take it that was what sparked the background check.
Well, not really. Sure, I suspected something fishy back then, but since she was behaving and the forums weren't going anywhere, I didn't do anything about it.
It was actually herself that brought up the connection to masteraden, soon after we uncovered Mendy-chan and I believe I did mention few times that we ban for life.
But I'd rather leave the complete explanation into one, larger, coherent post, when we figure out how much info we are going to post.
-
Hm, I look forward to hearing about all of this nonsense.
These forums know how to make some enemies, man. But hey, good moderation comes at a price, m i rite? Life's about balance.
That's three as far as I can count. Seifer "Careaga" Almasy, Hermaphroditus, and Mako-aden. Mayhaps we need a trollcyclopedia?

I'd - at least still - rather just go with masteraden. Mako - even all things considered - didn't really troll during her time here. Feel free to add Rubicant, Mofokubik, and RPGillespie, plus his flunkies to the list, though.
We are most likely going to present at least part of our evidence, and I've already told you my greatest suspicion and the reason why I assumed this to be social hacking.
I'd pretty much prefer if we kept the name calling to a minimum. Please.
-

So, I did some digging around with those names and I found something amusing:

I later realised that this was because of the word filter, but it's still pretty funny :D

Lol nice that confused me at first. :P It made me think "Really? Hermoor was trolling on qhimm in 2003?" :0

I really love this forum. I tried to go to sleep about 5 hours ago and have spent the night lying there, too warm (somehow... it's snowing here and I'm too warm) so I get up to occupy myself and here's some more dramz. Its better than a soap opera. Thank you internets.

Hermoor would have been 10 years old at most. He probably would have had the same level of maturity he has now ;D
I also noticed the same person talking about his graphics card a few posts down. 64MB of graphics memory? I love looking at old forum posts and seeing how much computer hardware has improved since then :-P

Don't forget to tune in next week ;)
Or tomorrow :-P
There's bound to be plenty more drama ;D

If Mako truly was ill-intending, she's certainly the closest to adequate of all the forum's enemies I've seen. That she successfully deceived us all is, objectively, quite impressive.
-
I'd like to clear up that this had little to do with Mako's behavior; it is purely about the existing ban on masteraden. Lifetime bans are exactly that (lifetime), and repeat offenders are routinely re-banned as they try to return. Indications that masteraden was back led to his earlier ban being quickly extended, leading us to the current situation.
As Ammo pointed out earlier, Mako has behaved well through-out her stay here so far and following the renewed ban as well, with few exceptions. Though she maintains her innocence, she has nonetheless conveyed sincere apologies for any trouble caused. So please refrain from any name-calling while we figure out how to deal with the situation.

Well... I don't think authority on how all of us should behave gets any higher than that. As you wish.
