When I did the dyne battle, barret was level 58 and all materias I had to that point were 1 star from master(Full level without duplication)This was possible cause I went back to junon on the ship and leveled with the alarm, and my goal was to master my current materias with force stealer + platinum bangle(both doubles) and equivilents on red and barrett.
Now every enemy is wayyyy to easy lol. Every boss battle you can just hold ok and have NO worries, Interested to see if it takes all the way till the weapons for the game to catch up to me.

How'd you get that strong in an early part of the game?? Must've taken a lot of time leveling. ;D
-
Maybe played 2 hours running around using beta on all mobs inside junon corridor with the alarm. When your mp dies run forward 1 screen and theres an inn with a save point. The reason I level this way is cause I had a lot of competition in games from my cousins and we all wanted to be strongest.N/M where we were in the game lol.
Edit:I came back to the gold saucer and won 3 champ belts and 6 speed plusses and equipped them to my chars also.
-
Well you even have higher level than me and I'm in the part where Barret and Tifa is supposed to be executed and I'm level 38 and some 39. You must've hit Dyne with one shot and he died. Hehe :)

I got to thinking and maybe iI didnt have the platinum bangles then, but maybe I did.. Not sure where I got them at. May have been Corel Weapon shop.

i just (thru the magic of black chocobo) reserected my aeris from my legit psx save (from years ago) and she died @ level 54 w/ all her limits. i tend to level them up a bit to much as well then use a rubberband around the Ok button durring battles.
-
Woah I just remembered I never saw Aeris limit break level 2 or 3. I cheated and edited my save game to let her use level 4 limit break. Good think sithlord48 posted his Aeris thing.

I was looking at some old save files from ff7 and found a few that had my characters in the high 70s and cloud at 80 somewhere in disc 2.
-
As Ive gotten older I just wanna slaughter games to the point that I dont mind lvling in one spot against 1 mob for 2 days of play lol.I once lvled to 20 before guard scorpion, that took FOREVER! Like 5 days of play in the first reactor lol.

Pah! The first time I played, my characters were all at level 99 before disc 2 was finished and level 60 by the end of disc 1. ;D I used to get stuck a lot :(

lol i never got past level 50 in my first game =P

I want to try playing ff7 and make at least cloud to lvl 99 in disc 1. Any tips since your hardcore players here??

i like to do the bulk of my leveling out side of nibelham, the wolves there seam to provide decent ap and exp. but there are quite a few places before that you can also level, junon, the forests, etc.
-
I'm still at the junon part where cloud's party slips throught the ship going to costa del sol. I'll try leveling at that part when I get to do that. How long did you take when you leveled outside nibelheim??
-
I like leveling off of the headhunters around mideel. Accessible with the tiny bronco, gives excellent rewards and they're not too tough if you have the right e-skills and lots of tents to fill up on MP.
-
idk i really have not played like that in quite some time.. i do remember spending a few days out there getting people up to around level 60 (also working on gaining the one or two limits i was missing). also aali brings up a good point about eskills, get them and get them earily, they are most helpful

I remember when I first played the game when I was 7, I didn't understand how to catch a chocobo so I grinded from level 14 to 26 near the chocobo ranch and fought against the midgar zolom to get passed the marshes. :P Funny thing is, it's possible to get across the marshes withought touching the midgar zolom.
-
...it's possible to get across the marshes withought touching the midgar zolom.
Did this my very first play through without even trying. My second play through I couldn't replicate it and was completely stumped... so then I grinded until I was able to beat him. Does this make me cooler than everyone else? Yes, yes it does.
-
My first re=playthrough when getting the mods here on qhimm I just simply strolled across the masrshes without a care in the world, but like obesebear, couldnt duplicate it(I think it has to do with the zolom getting stuck on a wall for a sec)
-
u know guys, i have tried to cross the marshes w/o a chocobo and not hit that damn snake. but i have never been able to do so.....
-
It's ok sith. I heard it works better if you equip the sprint shoes on Cloud. :P :P
-
The secret to crossing without a chocobo is to scope out where he's heading. If you're facing the marsh, there's a little cove off to the left. He can only turn at a certain angle, so once you see he's heading towards that cove and won't be able to immediately turn around... RUN!
-
Or you can cheat and run as far as you can and just before he gets you you goto the menu and save your game. Load up this game and the zolom will start at the other side of the marsh again. The just run the rest of the way.

on my second playthrough wayyyyyyyyyyyy back when ff7 first came out i level up like mad at the junon alarm. I was level 99 before i reached the nibelhiem reactor and the rest of the game was a breeze. I ended up mastering EVERY materia by farming the magic pots inside the crater to get master materia, as well as doing the master materia quest. I don't remember what the play though time was, but it was well over 100 hours. stables loaded with golden chocos, beat the battle arena to death, beat choco racing to death, even beat that stupid roller coaster game to death(what is the point of that?) it was about as close to 100% completion i would ever dare to attempt legitimately. But when your 14 you have all the time in the world.
now i would do it like this:
start disc 1, load up black chocobo and get to level 99.
tell myself that i did it legit...same results :)
im getting lazy in my old age...or maybe smarter :D
