1) We do not support downloaded copies of the game http://forums.qhimm.com/viewtopic.php?t=3800

2) Don't resurrect old topics

3) Read the forum rules and sticky topics before posting it really isn't hard.

You will find no help here

have you tried setting windows 98 compatibility mode?

109
Square-enix undoubtably know about this forum and I guess they also monitor the projects closely as well. AFAIK they haven't complained about the modifications so far as they are relatively minor. However, if the game engine was to be completely rewritten a cease and desist order will most likely be sent to the authors.

I assume you've now edited out the bit in your original message that said you had downloaded the game

FF7 works fine on my ATI 9800pro as long as I check the TNT box in the 1.02 config.

Most people frown at double posting, but triple posting and being impatient will annoy the board members.

Have you checked your CDs for scratches or tried to manually copy the file to your hard drive?

What happens when you try running the game at 640*480 resolution

I used to have this problem and turning on windows 98 compatibility mode fixed it.
However, sometimes it creates another problem in that when you exit the game the GUI closes, however the process remains running in the background using 100% of CPU. So you might have to manually terminate the process if this happens.

The weird thing is that I reformatted my HDD a few months later and haven't needed to use compatibility mode since.

Did you happen to download FF7 or is it a legal copy?

116
Several utilities exist to restore deleted files because they are not actually physically deleted but rather flagged as overwritable. In your case however, overwriting the file means that it is very unlikely you'll be seeing the file again.

Another option would be to download a range of FF7 saves  from http://www.cheatheaven.co.uk/pc-cheats-1/finalfantasy7_savegame.htm, find the one closest to your last location and use Jenova to edit the stats.

There have been multiple debates about the legality of downloading FF7. However if you check the forum rules (clearly marked sticky topic at top of forum) it clearly states that we do not support downloaded copies of the game.

You should post your system specs

In the config program have u tried alternating between riva or TNT in display settings.

Depending on your graphics card drivers you could try manually forcing off AA.

Some people encounter the crash and others don't. I think that some work is going into creating a fix for this problem if you search the boards
