About kernel2.bin size limit, i know that aali's driver removes that and he posted this years ago. can't we apply a similar workaround for 2012/steam version too?

152
Can't wait for when the new verson gets released! Glad to see you implemented your centered description here as well. Are you going to use it in shops as well this time?

153
It will be fully compatible with Steam.  It's one of the reasons I am switching to the old menu ;)  The exes addresses for main data are the same.
Great, thanks! I'll be waiting for it then.

Update:

I am now finally on to the shop menus.  It's not as difficult as the first time round since a lot of the code is in place.  But it's still slow and annoying to edit the positions of almost everything .... again.
I was wondering... seeing how this new menu overhaul consist of minor tweaks to the original menu instead of a retextured one, will it be compatible with the 2012/steam version as well? and if not, the 2012 exe is that much different from the 98's 1.02?

Well, shinra discovered mako around 40 years before the start of the game and president shinra was in charge at that time IIRC. It's unlikely that an infantryman (the one speaking, whom is almost certain to be younger than 40) would either remember other presidents or talk about "scientific potential" other presidents didn't use when shinra, before the discovery of mako, had none.

a little dialogue-related question.

Code: [Select]
Rufus is different from those who
  went before him.

Why the plural?

157
Well, this makes a lot more sense, thanks guys.
Oh, and as a side note, I just noticed that inside the menu the location name string is limited to 23 chars. Is there any way to increase that?

EDIT. Before climbing the cable in WM, cloud says that it goes up "hundred of meters", while Jessie on the train said that the top plate is 50 meters above ground. I do believe that the latter is completely wrong, but the number is still there... what do you think about it, Daniel?

158
I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question but i don't get what that "Plate - Cross Section" is. I think it's the fallen sector 7 plate, but isn't a cross section something "cut off"? I'm asking cause I'm clueless at how i should translate that into italian.

159
minor mistake. in the manly hall, Aerith stops Cloud from saying "are you a man" using Cloud instead of {CLOUD}

Pollensalta: what about Pouransarita? Sarita as princess in hebrew and Pouran as successor in persian.

Got it! Thanks

It's genuine...  If they went in their sleep they wouldn't have known about it.  But, awake, they'd be walking around...  might know about it before the end.  Not that that is much comfort, but the Japanese writers seem to think so :P

The next release will show what other script fixes have been made.
What i don't understand is the "went in their sleep" part. what does that mean? sorry but english is not my mother language

163
The sector 7 woman says this in a dialogue after returning from reactor 1 bombing:
Quote
“If the explosion had been in the
middle of the night… well,at least
they would’ve gone in their sleep.”
I never really understood this line... is as cynical as it seems? Meaning that people died without being aware of what happened to them... or something else?

164
Could you please update the download link? The linkbucks one has expired.

EDIT: Solved. Thanks DLPB!

Ask me anything if you're troubled, Roxas. I'm italian too.

Chiedi pure a me se hai problemi, Roxas. Sono italiano anch'io.

menu overhaul's status being "completed" means no more FFX-like or FFVII-like battle interface?

I have a question. Could you clean the video of Jenova?

Are you talking about subtitles?

I doubt you're going to want to play the game and look at the text at the same time.. what's the point?

Also...  I've been sat here 6 hours straight now fixing things that decided to surprise me.  But it is getting released before I go to bed tonight.  I am not going to sleep until it is released :?:
Please stay healty XD

Thanks  It will save me some time indeed.

Glad to have helped. I'm really looking forward for the time when every single string of the game will be editable with your tool.
Ah, and when everything is finished you should consider adding a search function and/or an export/import function to allow easier editing of multiple strings.

I don't know if you already have info regarding items and equipment text so i'll just tell you what i've found.
Items/Key Items/equipment/card names are are located into the SLES/SLUS file in ff9 text format. Pointers for equipment and item names are right above the names, in blocks long 18 byes each, with the first two being the actual pointer. Key item pointers are located after the names instead, but not directly after (there are 386 bytes between the end of the block of the names and the first pointer to key item names in the italian SLES file) in blocks 7 bytes long, with the first two being the actual pointer. I'll try editing card names next so tell me if you need infos about them too. I hope to have saved you some time, keep up the good work!  ;-)

I did a search for セト on a japanese final fantasy site (not sure if I can post the link) and the only thing that showed up was Seto from FFVII. However I also tried to look the net for Seth translitteration in kana (Seth to katakana search with google) and it is written as セス (Sesu) in the first 3 results...
Nevermind, even the japanese wikia lists セト as one of the possible transliterations for Seth, it seems that the more I look into it, the more complicated it gets...

Anyway to me it's incredible how only 16 years later some forum users manage to make sense of a much more complicated situation given all the prequels that help for worse and actually care enough to spend their free time in correcting that (and get complained), while the original translator couldn't, never cared, and everyone was happy of their job (FF7 the MASTERPIECE... even if it makes no sense, lol)  :-o

It isn't...  so that's come from elsewhere. imho It's best to stay well away from other sources if you want to enjoy FF7, because the more you read from other sources, the more the story seems to get retarded from all the crap they have added, and retcons they've made and so forth.

So nobody should care  ;-) .

Not the original game anyway...  dates aren't recorded at all.  So I guess that comes from preq seq again?

I mean, part of the original game's charm is that you can believe their world uses a different dating system or names for months.... and now it all has to have real world names and dates?  That sucks.

Yeah it's likely that that is the case, but at the same time I don't remember where it's stated in the game that only a few weeks of time have passed from Nibelheim to Zack's death.

I believe there are notes of their experimentation results, when they found them and what happened after and why they let Cloud go in the manshion basement which I believe give dates to them.
But they are way too detailed... could it be the Ultimania the source for them?

Anyway if isn't told in the original game if it's few weeks or 50 weeks it shouldn't matter THAT much.
