The guard has potential.

When you split it up into the different sections, try to make the coat 'tail' not clip with the running animations.

So far, I'm a little impressed with how good it looks, let's see if you can follow it up when you're getting closer to completion.

I was actually wondering how I was going to go about doing that. XD. And it's already all split up..  The parts are just pushed together to make it look like one model. :P.
And the guard is my first "to detail" humanoid. I made a first draft of it ages ago... And it was crappy. :p.

Another model I made.. I even made a simple design and sketch for it... My first Katana:

I don't know if I like the "completely" straight model... or the one that gets slightly more narrow as the blade goes down.

I guess I should start posting this here then since I am doing it for this project. :P. Though my skills are less then satisfactory. Here is my schpeel on the red Shinra guard. It's just a W.I.P... The hands are crappy. :p.

Edit:

it kinda fails... but:

Something I might donate to Team Avalanche if it turns out well:

He meant you can always just use the base game. Like the drivers that get installed when you install the game. That driver is called Direct X. :P. Aali's drivers are made to stabilize some of the issues that the Direct X drivers caused. Aali's drivers are far from complete, but they are definitely an improvement. In my opinion.

155
Direct X i think. XD. Umm 7? I haven't actually looked. Sorry.

156
It seems like this hurts FF8 more than it helps.

Not true. There's a few missing graphics, but this is the most compatible option.
Which ones? It just seems like until we can apply high resolution textures there is really no point in using this with FF8.

The ones that come with the game... When you install it? :P.

Thanks. :D.
On the second rifle, I am going to completely remake the stock later, to match the reference I am using a bit more.

I gotta make that bolt... slide thingie @.@.

Of course it is the first one you find in google images. ;).

But yeah. The rifles got the most love. ^.^.

I some how accidentally deleted my original thread while trying to edit, gee do I feel smart. Well as the name implies I am going to be posting my custom 3D content in this thread. I am one of those weirdos who loves constructive criticism, so don't worry about my feelings, tear my models apart, I want to get better!

Well I will start with one relevant to FF7, here is my schpeel on Aeris/th's Umbrella:

A mess up on Aeris/th's first staff:

Another staff thing:

A big sword:

A WIP of a rifle:

Part 2 of that rifle:

Now, any criticisms? :3.

It should be located here:

That default location on a 32 bit system being here:

I was wondering something along those lines myself. Cause i didn't know how to shape the torso or hands... :P.
So I stuck the original and added basic hands... Not sure if I should model fingers tho... I mean we need a basic design... if anything.

However I want to know what you people think of my model? ^.^
Any criticisms?

Well here is my attempt at the Red Shinra guard... Still very rough, and this is the first model I have ever made entirely from scratch. ^.^.
I know it isn't very good but I tried. ^.^

I know the legs and feet are crappy... they need to be remade.
And I still haven't done much on the face. I honestly don't know where to begin with the mouth and nose. XD.

I have no idea. I always use regsvr32

I don't know what regsvr32 is, so I think we are even. ;).
I have always just typed the name of the .dll in the "cmd" prompt after I put the file in my windows/system32 folder. But, now I am merely repeating myself.
I am sorry. ^.^.

Holy crap... click on the 3rd link down in google.
Click the file.
Save it.
Copy it to windows/system32.
Open a command prompt (type cmd in the search in your start menu, right click and run as administrator)
type regsvr32 mscomct2.ocx

Don't you just run "cmd" as admin if it's windows 7 or Vista, and type in the name of the .dll?
After the .dll file is in windows/system32 that is.

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / Re: FF7 missing PSFs
« on: 2010-06-04 05:21:22 »
Hello everyone, I thought I would bump this topic (and register) because I've been looking for a way to convert PSX music files (mostly FF) into MIDI for several months now.

I ended up coming across pgconv a little while back and attempted to get it to work, but I recently was advised that FF games didn't use standard Sony driver files, and that I would need a program such as akao2mid in order to get the job done. I haven't really had any luck finding additional information, so I thought I would try posting here...

It is customary to read forum rules before posting. Necromancy of dead topics isn't something that people like around here.
But, to answer your question, I think the PSF files are included in the FF7 Music download. A copy of the program and a tutorial to install it can be found here:
http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=8493.0
Mendelevium, he's not asking for the PSF files. He's trying to CONVERT them. Also, my bundle does not include the PSF files. They're legal gray area, so I left them out. They can easily be found at zophar.net, as well as probably a number of other places.

My bad. Lol. I thought he just wanted them to work in the game. *wasn't really thinking.*
And secondly I thought you did? Maybe it was the remix mod that included them. XD.

Troubleshooting / Re: Chibi reconstruction project??
« on: 2010-06-01 06:46:56 »
Lol. Of course. :p.
Although, it is not that hard, if you wanted to you could do it yourself. I have seen your work with kimera, it is ample enough.
I just used parts from the battle.lgp, and recolored the parts accordingly and snapped them into place.

And yeah. But, if I ever get inspired to work on it again. Qhimm's will be the first to know. But my work is kinda iffy, :P.
I am more of a writer and numbers guy.  So 3D and all this "artistic" stuff is kind of a challenge to learn.

Troubleshooting / Re: Chibi reconstruction project??
« on: 2010-06-01 06:24:44 »
I tried that a while ago, that was back when i was a beginner at Kimera. Lol. It failed. But, if I tried it now I am sure I could do it. But, to be honest I don't really want to :P.

Lol. I quit the project awhile back, it was just me and MXster (now going by another name... I don't remember what though.) who were working on it...

But, I don't think I will be taking the project back up anytime soon, if at all. I lack dedication. :P. Plus I am working on other mods at the moment. So yeah.

I was thinking about taking it up again. *is blood_Crowe*
However, I would much rather learn how make my own 3D chibis for Team Avalanche. :p
Although, it is still fun to just mess with around with Kimera. :3.

I don't mean to sound noobish but what exactly is a Warez User?

I infer that is a title given to those who repeatedly break the rules to humiliate them; that is what I was able to collect from what Covarr said. :)

Oh really? You know what is sad, I knew this. XD. I looked into the animations ages ago... I just Haven't modded in so long that I forget the ins and outs, I am trying to get back into it, you see?

But regardless, thank you so much! It worked like a charm.

Troubleshooting / AAFE.AKI file has failed to load?
« on: 2010-05-28 01:53:15 »
I have no idea what that is. Or where it would be located...

All I know is every time I hit new game, or try to load an old saved game I get an error message saying that the AAFE.aki file has failed to load. And then it shuts my Final Fantasy VII game down, dropping me back to desktop. O.O

I am pretty sure it has something to do with the char, or flevel.lgps, because I can start the game okay. And I am fairly certain it has to do with all of my personal mods, they most likely have the LGPs all clogged up. Hehe... I am content in not using my personal mods, cause I know a clean install runs just fine; but if it is at all possible, I would like to know if there is a simple solution to this, like opening the original Char.lgp or flevel.lgp and copy and pasting the missing file to my new lgp file..or?

I am using Aali's custom graphics drivers, and The Team Avalanche Overhaul mod, as well as the APZ custom Cloud battle model, and Ficedula's Music mod. On top of it all I have many personal mods installed...

I know I have the 1.02 patch installed, and the drivers ARE working, I have checked several times, the app log should be evidence enough. ;).

Here is my crash.dmp:
