Seeing as this topic was originally about religion...

I'm religious myself, and I believe that there's nothing wrong with religion on its own.  However, what people need to understand about religion is that it is strictly a belief, and must not be treated as anything more.  You can believe whatever you like, and you can let it affect your life however you like, but it's never acceptable to cause trouble to other people because what you believe has nothing to do with them.

Even if you're a raging fundamentalist who believes that your religion is correct and everyone else's is wrong and everyone else should die and burn in hell for it, that has nothing to do with them because that's just what you believe.  The only person that has anything to do with is you.

Wow, thanks for agreeing with me :) I'm actually a little surprised.

This is my personal favorite remix, although you may or may not agree with me:

So... you're designing an installer to make it possible to run FF7 on a Mac?

Consensus rules over all?  Pfft.  Consensus is so overrated.  On these forums, the admins rule over all :P It's just simpler that way.

Also, I don't agree with you.  If it's offensive, it's offensive to gay people, who are a minority.  Consensus victimizes them.  So whether 'gay' is offensive or not… I say only gay people should be allowed to vote on that one.

Test what?

The page loads fine now, so I guess something caused my connection at the time to go haywire.

*Just how many bytes is this .gif??*

Couldn't you have just posted the link to that?  It takes forever to load this page now >:(

If the proxy filter is really necessary, then I can deal with it, but it means that I need to refresh every time I change webpages here.

Meh.  I guess I need some incentive to come here a little less...

37
Actually, would NAT have to be enabled for Time Machine to work?

It just occurred to me that I have Time Machine running on my home computer.  Apparently, that requires some kind of proxy to work (don't look at me, I never knew this, it wasn't even my idea to install it :().  Come to think of it, I never got the problem when I wasn't at home, so I guess that must be it then.

@Bosola: I remember trying to get onto the forums with an AOL connection a long time ago.  Don't ask me why - the context is complicated.  But yeah, the forums completely rejected me (100% of the time), only with a different message, telling me that AOL is a no-no.  (So I connected to my neighbor's wireless network and used that instead 8))

38
But, but, but… I still got the error while using Google Chrome… :(

Also, the error doesn't seem to be happening to me now.  Or at least, it hasn't happened over the past five minutes that I've been on here (and I'm still using Safari).  Has something been done, or is this random?

EDIT: As an afterthought, if there is a proxy filter that filters me out for some reason, how come it didn't block me completely?

39
Nope, no proxies here.  Not that I know of, at least...

And I seriously don't get what people have against Safari.  (Oh, and I also get the error if I use Google Chrome.)

40
I'm having a problem.  Whenever I change web pages while navigating around the forums, I have roughly a 50% chance of bumping into this:

It's kind of annoying.  Why has this started happening all of a sudden?  I'm just using Safari on my laptop with wireless connection to a local network - the same as I've been doing for the past year and a half :-\ Has something been changed recently?

We really went all out against Obesebear in this thread.  But at least he got his post count back ;D

In my view, meanings are marked as "dated", rather than being outright excluded, so that if we encounter that word in some form of ancient literature, the context of which took place at a time when the meaning wasn't dated, then we have a meaning to apply to it.  Does that make sense?  It's probably just my childish way of looking at the world 8)

I think I'll retire from this thread now.

They should, but they won't.  People suck.  They never do what they should do.  They just follow whatever appears to be the norm :-\

EDIT: When I say "people suck", please don't take me too seriously.

But what does it matter, if no one uses it for that context?

Notice how the word "dated" comes before the definitions.  It may as well mean that those definitions no longer apply, unless the context of the word takes place in a time when it did apply.

It's not a good idea to use the word "gay" for its original meanings as they has been phased out in favor of the newer, more unfortunate meanings.

I'm feeling very gay today.  I'm feeling very happy today.

Very well, I'm turning off my filter!  Not that it makes a huge difference, because I don't swear that much.  imo, swearing is fucking pointless :P

Really?  I always thought it was pink.

Also, Alhexx now has the silver stars as well.  Not that it matters, seeing as he seems pretty inactive.

EDIT: The total post count of the whole forum currently stands at 133,455.  In order to become a geek, you have to make all of those posts your own, then multiply them by 4+?  Good luck, Kudistos...
