7th Heaven 2.2.3.522 - Outdated
Released 8/27/2020

Note: 7H 2.0 users will be prompted to update to 2.2.3.522 if the 'Check for 7H Updates Automatically' option is turned on. Unfortunately, 2.2 BETA users will not be prompted and must learn of the update by themselves due to the developers losing access to the version check site used in the BETA. Sorry!

*The Qhimm Community "Animations" 3.0 mod, 60 fps option is NOT compatible with FFNx (therefore 7H 2.2)!* It will crash your game. Turn it off. The mod will need to be updated in the future to support FFNx.

Introduction
It's been 7 years since version 1.0. Now, the 7th Heaven Mod Manager has been taken to the next level with version 2.2!
This version makes using mods for Final Fantasy 7 ridiculously simple.

Why should you use this over the original 7th Heaven 1.x? That's a good question!
  • To use this version, just open it, choose your ideal mods, and click Play. That's it!
  • No more messing around with converting your game, load order, or mounting an ISO (Works now even in Windows 7!). It's all built in!
  • Supports multiple languages of the installed game as well as English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Portuguese (Brazilian), and Spanish in the 7th Heaven User Interface.
  • Auto Sort button so you don't have to worry if you have your mods in the right load order.
  • Customizable themes including dark, light, and classic modes or create your own!
  • Includes the FFNx driver which adds centered vertical fields (no more big black bar at the bottom), better controller support (including using triggers and d-pad!), antialiasing, built-in cheats like a random battle toggle, speed hack, and soft reset and more. The game will also continue to play even if the window loses focus.
  • Edit your keyboard and gamepad controls directly in 7th Heaven and save them as presets.
  • Comes with new and updated mods from E2QAlyza's Catalog 3.0, Strife98's Mods Of The Round, and Sega Chief's catalog (popular for New Threat).
  • Onboard help, FAQ, and troubleshooting documentation.

7th Heaven / Re: Error when Clicking Launch
« on: 2019-12-13 11:28:19 »
You are most certainly not running an up-to-date version of 7H. The copy you have is missing critical files based on your error messages as well.  Be sure you are getting a current supported version from EQ2Alyza's tutorial on these forums, extract the entire zip file to a folder, then run 7thHeaven.exe. You cannot just run 7thHeaven.exe from within the zip file (aka compressed folder).

381
7th Heaven / Re: Is a one click launch possible?
« on: 2019-12-13 11:22:56 »
Yes, it is possible. You would run it from the command line, shortcut, or batch file like this:

7thHeaven.exe /PROFILE:Default /LAUNCH

Just change Default to another profile name if you have a different specific one set up that you want to use. 7th Heaven also supports the /QUIT switch, however, it will immediately open, load your profile, launch the game, then exit, so that is kind of pointless because none of your mods would work once it quits. So, you unfortunately would still have the GUI up. I'll consider adding a proper /QUIT command in a future version of 7H.

I would suggest making a batch file or other script look for the FF7.exe process running in some way, then do a taskkill command to 7thHeaven.exe once the FF7 process ends so you wouldn't have to manually close it.

Releases / Re: [FF7PC] [7H] Enhanced Stock UI (1.0)
« on: 2019-11-22 21:52:36 »
Congrats on the release, Chrys! I am a little confused, though, because earlier in the thread, when I asked, you said a modified .exe (such as being changed by White Chocobo or TouphScript) can be used with this mod. But just a few posts up, you said it can't. So which is it? And I still think you might want to provide a non-7H version as well. Not everyone uses 7H, and forcing it to go through there alone cuts off those people who don't use it who might want to try out the mod. The choice should be up to the user to decide how they want to install it.
I don't mean to speak for Chrysalis, but the person who created the mod gets to decide what they want to support.  Not you.

My interpretation of what he said was you can change the exe if you want but that doesn't mean you should nor does it mean it is supported.  Give it a whirl, see what happens, but just know you do it at your own discretion and risk of it not working properly or it looking weird.  Many modders are moving away from hacking exes nowadays, which is a good thing.  There are better ways.  With that said, if you're only changing shop data, and the integrity of the rest of the exe is intact, it will probably work fine.

Nobody is forcing you to do/use anything.  The choice you have is what modding platform or method you use.  There is nothing stopping you from applying the assets from this mod into your preferred platform/method if you choose to take the time to do so.  Maybe you could be less demanding and instead suggest ways and offer help on how he can support your setup.

White Chocobo has been long abandoned.  If you're going to cheat in the game, why not just use other methods?

Chrysalis/EQ2Alyza, this is absolutely hands down the best looking and coolest UI/MO out there.  It looks fantastic and works great. Congrats on the release! And thanks for the mention.

384
If the most you can "toy" with a complex mod like this is 15 mins before throwing in the towel and deciding it's no good, then I have no idea why you think modding games is for you in the first place. Your opinion isn't worth the grain of salt you recommend we take it with.
That's simply not true.  I love modding FF7.  Most people can easily (and do) tell if they like a product within that amount of time or less.  It's like staying on a date for 5 hours when you already made up your mind you weren't attracted to the person as they were first walking up to greet you.  Why torture yourself?  Hence why they invented the very popular speed dating.  The value in downloading, installing, reading, configuring, and then ultimately using without seeing much really exciting (to me) was not worth it to me.  Excellent if it is for you.  Reunion won't be "an acquired taste" for me by using it longer.  I simply don't like it.  On the bright side, at least R06 installed.  I couldn't get that far with R05.

I'm sure there will be many fanboys and fangirls that don't agree with me and will run up to defend it, and that's OK.  But it's pathetic to let someone else not liking a mod get under your skin.

385
Aaaaaaand....meh.  Quick review after toying with it for 15 minutes:  Installer is not high DPI friendly, nor is it clear in the options what you're installing or not installing (do I check it or NOT check it to get what I want?).  Runs in a 640x480 small ugly box until editing text file. BSOD'd my PC first time I ran it and got into a battle (that really pissed me off 'cause I had some unsaved things open). 60fps is buttery smooth (when it works) but does weird speedups and slowdowns (not my PC performance).  Cloud's limit break is broken.  Menus are ugly and boring and IDK why the Quit menu was removed just because there are now alternate controls (which are not immediately known unless you RTFM...most people won't).  Audio engine, only audio modders will care. Speaking of, looks like I'll have to rename all my oggs to long and different file names if I want to mod them (would have been nice if the original file names were kept). No frontend yet. Only 1 mod can be active at a time (voiding the whole value of the modding framework). Won't be spending my time trying to get all my mods that I like to work in one folder.  Not a fan of all the bundled stuff when only the translation is of interest to me.  That's unfortunate because I won't run this just to have some updated dialog (and only that, because I HATE the towns, item names, equipment, materia, spells, etc. being changed). Big download, lots of disk space used for little reward.

It's not all bad.  Kaldarasha's models look great. Not sure why they're not on by default.

I'm not trying to be mean or rude, as I know you put a lot of work into this but I just don't see what all the hype was about.  Take one person's opinions with a grain of salt.  In all, not my cup of tea.  Will be uninstalling.

386
7H works just fine with Windows 10. There is a 3rd party component of 7H being used called EasyHook which has a bug on the newest updates of Windows 10. This bug has been reported to the EasyHook developers and hopefully they find a fix soon. However, in the meantime, 7H still works just fine if you set your FF7.EXE's 640x480 compatibility flag. The next version of 7H will set this for you automatically (or if an EasyHook fix is released, will include that instead).

387
This looks like a texture filtering problem to me. Try turning it off if you have it on in your OpenGL/Aali driver settings.

388
I've been listening to these tracks and I've gotta say I think these are the best remakes I've heard so far. They capture the original, including a certain punchiness that other remakes seem to miss. I really, really like these.
I agree with you completely. They seem to stay true to the heart of the originals in most ways with some added flair from Enrico.  They sound fuller and I like his arrangements.  This is why I thought his music would be a great candidate for a mod to use in game.  While they're great and I appreciate the work put into them, I'm not a huge fan of changing the genre, like an all heavy metal music mod or something.

Team Avalanche / Re: Project Edge (Jusete's field scenes)
« on: 2019-11-09 04:25:13 »
satsuki knows his stuff  ;)

391
Should I make the former optional?

Definitely.  Windows does not like switching modes, at least on many PCs I've used.  Makes things even worse, and I don't want to have to potentially reboot my PC for things to return to normal.

392
What is this?
This will eventually be a complete in-game replacement soundtrack for Final Fantasy 7.  All tracks are composed by the very talented Enrico Deiana and looped/edited by me.  Enrico is from Italy and enjoys creating video game music remakes as well as original works.  Many of his remakes have become very popular on YouTube.  I was fascinated by his music and reached out to him to see if we could collaborate on bringing his music to a new audience (the modding community) and inside the game.  With Enrico's permission and oversight, we're doing just that.  Some tracks will even have multiple versions to select from!

What does the music sound like?
Check out these and other tracks on Enrico's YouTube channel:
Opening - Bombing Mission: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41cqwo504hA
The Chase (Crazy Motorcycle): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNWJtQaWIEI
One-Winged Angel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPQii0-A98c

Technical Details:
-All tracks are created directly from original lossless WAV files.
-They are saved as high-quality 48 kHz OGG Vorbis files with a quality setting of 7 (a nod to the game).
-This setting means a variable bitrate between 224 kbps and 256 kbps which sounds better than an MP3 at the equivalent bitrate.  This is significantly higher than most people store their own music collections and is a good balance of quality vs. file size.
-Loops are created by ear and are not necessarily "bit perfect".
-Loops are created to best showcase Enrico's vision of the track; some loop points may be different than the game's OST.

How do I get it?
There is currently a public preview of the mod, available in the Mods of the Round catalog (included with 7th Heaven 2.0).

When fully completed, this should be available in several formats such as:
-We're proud and excited to say this will be a music pack option in the impressive Echo-S mod!
-Single file IRO that works best with 7th Heaven 2.0.
-A standard .zip file containing just OGG and movie files that you extract to your FF7 game's music and movies folders.

Yes, I read the FAQ, but I still gotta ask:

Any plans to integrate/add mod support for the "Remako" mod? Or maybe do something simillar yourself in a future version?

Those upscaled backgrounds and FMVs are a real game changer as far as I'm concerned.

No offense to CaptRobau, he did great work, but Remako seems more or less like a proof of concept that won't get off the hype train.  It is outdated now and there are much better upscales that are new and supported. I recommend Satsuki's.

Discovered that the bug in previous post also affects the "world map"-type area in the Great Glacier. The area where Cloud puts markers as the wind blows and turns the camera to alter your direction. When that area first loads and Cloud has his dialog, the game crashes before the dialog box shows up. I'd assume then this affects all boxes that pop up on a world map type area.

Just an FYI to help where I can. My game crashes and I get the "oops" error with your mod in this scenario: Have Highwind, Tifa lead of party (unknown if it occurs w/ Cloud yet), catch a Chocobo. Once the World Map loads and you dismount, where you get to select whether you want to release the Chocobo or send it to the stables, game crashes. The menu does not pop up when it is supposed to. I've narrowed it down to this bit here in the 01-Base_12.txt file for hext edits:

{world map box height
768FEB = E8 4B A9 1A 00 90 90

This does not occur if I use the modded _bc.exe, only if I use the standard exe which of course, I intend to use this mod with so I'm not dependent on a modded exe anymore.

Wow, beautiful! It's so cool to see these take shape during different stages of completion.

397
Of course you can use the video and mod it as long as you credit me ^^
Could you check this version and tell me if it's ok for you: http://wowsatsuki.free.fr/Ending2.avi

C'est parfait! That was incredibly fast! A thousand thank yous. I appreciate all the time and effort you have put into these mods.

These are really good looking. Great job, satsuki! I have a couple of questions:

1. I've found errors in the subtitles in the ending sequence. Being an OCD spelling and grammar nut, this makes me cringe a little. Any chance you can fix them?
a. "They all seems to be safe, too." -> "seems" should just be "seem".
b. "The flower girl ?" -> Unneeded space. Should be "The flower girl?"
c. "Wait a damn minutes! What's goin to happen to Midgar?" -> "minutes" should be "minute" and "goin" should be "going" (unless you're trying to emphasize Barret's speech pattern and want to use "goin'" with the apostrophe). It's also worth noting that these are 2 separate lines on the original video.
d. "...Lifestream" -> Needs a period at the end. "...Lifestream."

2. I'm doing a little work on a music mod, including replacing the music embedded in the opening video and possibly the ending video. If I changed the audio track(s) but kept the video, would I have your permission to include and distribute the modified files with the mod if it ever releases? I'd of course give credit to you for the upscale work on the videos.

Thanks!

Looks amazing! Excellent job! Congrats on the big day.

Any idea when we will get a download for main Kalm that we can use in game? I'm only seeing the basic render but no layers, etc. Would love to see it complete since all other fields there look amazing then main town still out of place.

Edit: elmpb also.

Releases / Re: [FF7PC] Enhanced Stock UI

Been trolling the forums awhile, finally decided to register. Excited for this UI mod. I downloaded the early work from your other thread and using that instead of other menu mods. Noticed 2 things which may or may not be fixed already: It doesn't take into account the beacause mod and says things like "Fury" instead of "Anger" in some parts. I'll literally see both Fury and Anger (both translations) on screen at the same time in some screens. The other thing is the multiple incorrectly sized dialog screens, particularly ones where you have to select a choice with the finger cursor in a dialog. They don't seem to take into account the larger font.

I'm hoping this will be released prior to Catalog 3.0 as standalone? Hopes of ever seeing an updated/working 7H, Catalog 3.0, and R06 before I (or they) die are slim. Let me know if you would like any beta testing done and I'd be happy to help. Speaking of which, EQ2Alyza, don't release that MO update ya'll were messing with and removed the kernel bin files from in the other thread for Catalog 3.0; it's unstable AF and instant crashes the game without any "oops" or other errors in certain scenarios. Straight to desktop.
