well, speed IS an issue with otheros on the ps3
The thing is, linux doesnt have access to the RSX (the graphics card)
unfortunately, that means that half of the ram on the system is a no-no zone 

it might actually be faster to have ydl running a vm with a very light x86 linux kernel+wine+ff7
in a way you are all right

You can run the PC version of ff7 on a PS3
1. Own phat ps3 with otheros option
2. Install Yellow Dog linux and cut out every ounce unnecessary running bloat
3. Run butchered slim windows xp in virtual machine
4. Install ff7 in virtual machine
5. Build PS3 laptop

Henceforth, ff7 pc running on a playstation portable.

FF13 is worth at least renting, the story is pretty good. I watched some weeabo kid play through the entire game.
It gets pretty repetitive, "run down path, get in fight, continue down path, get in fight, cutscene, boss, run down path"
One of the reasons i liked ff7-ff9 was the explorability in the game, everything was downhill for me after that.
So strange a feature, i like having an explorable world map. If there were a world map in ff10 it would have felt like 7-9, at least to me
As would ff13, gran pulse doesnt count as a world map in my eyes. At least the graphics are pretty good 
There is still hope for ffv13 however

Heavy Rain just comes across as being really slow and boring, it's one giant Quick Time Event.

That's why I like it so much.  It takes me back to a time when nearly every game I played felt new and innovative.  I used to have a massive collection of games in the early to late 90's.  Nowadays, I have 5.  Almost every "new" game feels exactly like the last.

We aren't so different, you and I.
Heavy Rain has completely blown my mind. I have found the game exhilarating in the least, but definitely not boring
I recommend it to anyone with a ps3

I have a dell studio xps 1645, this is the only laptop you will find
 at such a low price that comes with an RGBLED backlit screen.
FF7 looks 10 zilllionbilliontrillionwtflolomgbbq times better on this screen than
our sony bravia (manufactured this year) as does anything else
that you throw at it
it comes with an at hd 4670 which can play most games, i havent tried crysis or anything
but i like manipulating the threads, there are 8 of them btw.

The only problem with this laptop is its sub par battery life
But it comes with a core i7. It does last a good 2 hours though surprisingly (you can disable cores and throttle frequency to save extra power)
 It runs vmware workstation+netbeans like doesnt even care
and can play the orange box games maxed out
