oh man obesebear, you just got SERVED  8-)

beavii, i would take you moar srsly if you didnt abuse your periods.
As for pcreator, i dont have a clue. but i acknowledge your effort and thats sexy.
There are some threads here somewhere that show how to use it, i have seen them with my own eyes.

http://webpages.charter.net/reunionvii/

That is the pcreator homepage, check out the tutorials section.

I'd like to see someone try a screen thats less partial to cubes such as ancnt1 or loslake3.

Also, hakun, can you send me your model. I wanna see how the pros do their work

456
w/e, sorry if I offended you somehow. But if you have an agenda about not supporting cracked software, there's no reason not to shout yer belief from the top of every hill, (in this case the very first download post). Tell off those damn pirates right from the start as the scum they are eh? As fer me, I admit I'm one o those damnable pirates, but I have 3 copies of the game already, (two ruined by the little brats I called siblings), and I didn't see a point in dishing out a fourth amount of money for an experience I already had in my head. Otherwise I make a point of buying any good movies and such, because, like you, I find it immoral to steal. And that's my pirate's bit. GHARRR

I took one of my practice models from sketchup and converted it to .obj with blender with texture maps
I dont know If i did it right, but whatev.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7R17HHQR

You can play with it or something, until someone posts a real model.

459
I've been practicing because I need to do this for something else, so I'm improving nonetheless.

Anyone wanna take a stab at what that says?

Halkitten?  Oh... The avatar.... Right
You know we love you  :-D

Not bad for a first shot. I strongly suggest you go through the sketchup tutorials (Start with chapter 2, on the left hand side)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2_fqoCjKPM

Hehe, Yea, I guess I forgot to mention that I do 3D art for fun. It's a whole lot harder than it looks.

You want any pointers?
Pointers? Yes please!!
The one thing that was really grinding my gears about the opening scene was adding planes to the walls that were PERPENDICULAR to the floor.
3D art IS harder than it looks. I need to go through all of the tutorials. :D

D: i finally find motivation to model something, i start up and i find someone else beat me to it? FFFFFFFFUUUU-

...I think it happened again D:

I'mma just give up now.

NO. If this 2d to 3d, retexture the 3d then go back to 2d method is what it is going to take to redo these backgrounds
then this endeavor will surely take well over 9000 hours of hard, painful, sweaty, tear filled labor. That is more labor than what any one
man's body has room for.

if you start, do stuff like halkun was doing, get a sketchup file working, and if the uvs are exported in a nice way, we can retexture them.
I was intrigued by halkitten mittens 3d videos so I decided to give it a shot myself.
I started off with mdstin extracted from palmer
here is the aftermath:

Please note fellas, this is my first time using a 3d modeling program let alone google sketchup.
(Starting off, I didn't have a clue what I was doing)

Learning how to (loosely) use photomatch (thats the tool that you use to do this madness)
It gave me some insight on how difficult it would be to apply this method to some screens and objects.
Also, when one would go about doing this, how would one know what to, and what not to apply to just a flat surface.

For example: Being the sketchup nubile that I am, I applied the train to a flat surface instead of breaking it down into smaller cubes and planes.

I tried out the new driver and ran into some things
1. The highwind is now semi-transparent
2. Cloud is semi transparent on the world map (sometimes)
3. The menus and world map are much darker

The game crashed when I tried entering the cockpit whilst driving the highwind

I didn't want to say this but due to apple's full disclosure in this thread:

Those apple commercials macfagging the windows 7 launch... what the hell?
If I were to write a ratio representing apple-anti-windows7 launch commercials to windows 7 launch commercials
that I have seen today, it would be 4:1 and I have had the tv on for only 1 hour thus far. What is this world coming to?

I don't usually support micro$oft but the RTM of win7 is just to nice to bash
so consider this a f*ck you Steve Jobs, you wouldn't even have apple if it werent for Wozniak anyways

this is an ibm thinkpad x300 running OS X 1/2 Tiger next to my jailbroken iPod

And yes, that is windows 7 running in the background.

Step 1: Put together a regular PC
Step 2: Install MacOS
Step 3: ?????
Step 4: Profit

And then you can dual boot into Windows so you can actually play games properly.

This way it's a win win scenario and a bit cheaper.

Aren't your hardware choices pretty limited when building a Hackintosh? :?

I'm almost certain that you have to use Intel processors, amongst other things...

Over the last year or so, the 'hackintosh' www.osx86.com has actually had a dramatic increase in hardware compatibility. You can run OS 10.6 on most newer, popular hardware including newer AMD and intel processors. It doesnt support all  laptop hardware and poopy integrated whatnots, however. But ultimately, the best iMac is a PC with mac OS. I have an installation of 10.6 that I have for teh lulz running on a core i7 and a nvidia gtx260 (I wonder how much my setup would cost if it came from apple). I cant stand to use it though because it makes me feel like I am five years old, openSUSE FTW!
