I can't extract the game sounds, even under virtual XP. Don't know what I'm doing wrong here. Maybe I'll try again when I have more time!

I have a problem : When I set in_vgmstream.dll as the input plugin in FF7Music, I configure it then save, but immediatly after, it is back to default. Could someone send a plugin.ini so that it will stop doing that?

You could check what file permissions are set on your FF directory. If you're using Windows 7 / Vista, this could be a problem...

OK, so it's confirmed.
I wonder the same bug should happen on all games with the same method, like Myst and similar. I don't think this one is FF7 / 8 exclusive!

Is there someone who has an account over at Nvidia support forums to post it in the driver bug thread? I know - they maybe won't give such old games a high priority, but just to report it?

I've got an x64 machine with the same graphics card (minus the M) - I can check it out if you want.

Yess, that would be really helpful!

I've made a rollback to "266.58_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_international_whql", and now FF7 works again.

Maybe this is another x64 exclusive bug? Or it's only happening on GTX generation cards?

270.61 breaks FF7 completely, no matter of what driver you use. You will get white borders an white backgrounds. I'd really like to know what the guys at Nvidia have changed - up to the current driver version it always seemed to work flawlessly.

hmm it might just be the 64 bit because it runs perfectly on my my 32 bit windows 7 ultimate

I'm going to copy the contents of the game into my virtual Windows XP machine. If that works, I'll try again!

Redownloading it did not help. I think it's the way cosmo tries to access the file. Maybe it creates problems with windows 7 x64. I have already tried to disable DEP for this file, and I also have set
Code: [Select]
"CWDIllegalInDllSearch"=dword:00000000 for "cosmo.exe".

I thought running cosmo.exe with admin rights would fix the problem, but no go. Maybe someone who also has a x64 Vista or 7 could look into this and tell me, if cosmo works on his setup...

Ah, OK, thanks. I have mistaken "sqlogo.avi" for "eidoslogo.avi", that's all. My bad!

But you're right. At least it is less pixelated now. But the other FMV's are far better than before!
Since I own the PSX Version AND the (german) PC Version I have compared them and it seems to be even better than the PSX ones through maximum settings ePSXe on Pete's plugin!

Sadly I'm not even able to open the sound file. I have already changed the security to allow everyone and tried to execute cosmo.exe with admin rights. The path is correct, but there's no info WHY cosmo isn't able to open the file...

Code: [Select]
Plugins ready
FiceStream Trans_Table not located!
EXCEPTION: EFOpenError Cannot open file C:\Spiele\FFVII\data\sound\AUDIO.DAT

Is there someone who can help?

Just installed it, and it's working great. Great job, many thanks!!

One question: you write "Total Complete: 103 (+1, the Squaresoft logo)". That means, that the Squaresoft logo remains original and will not be changed, correct?

I don't know if you're still working on this project.

I'm a mastering engineer, and maybe I could help.
I'm using Adobe Audition with iZotope plugins and Pro Tools for mastering, but I'm NOT good at multitrack and/or composing. So if you need just things as loudness, compressors, resamplings, cleanups, fadings, EQ, I'm at your service!

Hello,

to Timber: yes, it seems to work without compat mode. I noticed that many progs which still needed the compat. mode in Windows Vista don't need it anymore on Windows 7. Seems that M$ has done a pretty good job here.

The only thing that could happen is, that since you have that damn VirtualStore since Vista and no enough rights to write to HKLM in the registry, some progs might behave strangely, as the installer of the avalanche mod did. Starting FF7Config with admin rights fixed that problem, too. No need for compat. mode.

To Covarr: I have double checked this. As soon as your installer has run, the compat. flag for Windows 98/Me is set to "FF7.exe". Uninstalling seems to revert that change. The crash happens in "rundll32.exe" because of the shim dll (which is used by M$ for the compat. mode). Antivirus and/or M$ EMET could play a role, though. But even by completely disabling DEP in EMET, I got that BEX crash when compat. mode was set to Win 98/Me.

BTW.: I'd like to thank you all for your great work. Currently I'm playing FF7 again after MANY years with my 14 years old son. He is absolutely blown away by the great storyline. Without your awesome work this would not have been possible, or at least not in this pleasant way!

Edit: many typo's.

I do not know if our mods work with the german version or not.

It seems to work flawlessly, I run it with my german version. Did not play that far up to now, though.
I only had to re-run the "FF7Config.exe" a second time for the installer to detect the registry entry correctly.

Hello,
I noticed there is a "flaw" in you installer, witch makes FF7 Crash with a BEX (even if DEP is disabled) on Windows 7 x64!

You turn on compatibility mode for "Windows 98 / Me" by default for "FF7.exe". That causes the crash. The solution is to choose "Windows XP SP2" or no compat. mode at all.

Thanks and regards,
