General Discussion / FF7 - Too easy. Make it harder?

Midgar, I realized that the mod of the thread you suggested makes the game too hard. I mean 5.000.000 HP for Sephiroth is ridiculous, that's 5 times the HP of Mox Ruby.

I though that you wanted a challenge... Tru using the 9999 Limit Break with it. I believe the maximum damage is 30,000 and the stats (hp,mp) can be about 18,000.

Okay, with that 9999limitbreak-mod it could become possible to beat Sephiroth.
However, I would prefer a mod which doesn't make the battles 3 times as hard but rather twice as hard.

Or maybe, I should simply play the normal FF7 trying to finish the game with a low level, e.g. 40, that means without "levelling".

Flatline, thanks for the links.

if you want a challenge, try some of those low level game completions......or like finishing the game w/o usin any magic or somethin...

...use ur imagination...

Can you give me some more examples?

Red, you should search before posting. In all your posts, I see nothing that a nice search or an faq wouldn't help.

I used the search but I didn't find that thread.

Thanks.

Has someone noticed that Mkilbride2599 hasn't posted anything in this thread for many days? He's probably reading this thread and laughs at those people who are expecting a description from him how to play Zack.

You'll never get a description how to play Zack because it simply isn't possible.

PS: I wanted to clear that up for those people who don't already know that.

I'm wondering if there is a MOD or a patch for FF7 which makes FF7 harder? Or is there a certain way of playing which makes FF7 more challenging?

I like doing extra levelling and that way the game becomes too easy. At my first and only time playing ff7 through I levelled up to lvl 99, killed both mox emerald and ruby without big problems and beat sephiroth realizing I could've killed him probably already with level 40 or something.

I've never run away from a battle until north crater because I simply didn't know how "running away" worked, lol, and I didn't get many problems either.

Movie. Rendered with computers; thus Computer Generated Imagery.

Ok, thanks.

I wondering if it was a game because Ged said on page two of this thread something about PLAYABLE and not-playable characters. So I thought FF7:AC would be a game.

I know there is a "Counter" materia somewhere in the North Crater, but I don't know if there is also a "Magic Counter".

I might sound very stupid but what IS a CG movie actually? Is it a movie or a game? Or both?!  :erm:

Okay, thanks. Are there even more prizes after the 40th win? If yes, when?

Chaoitc, I looked into some FAQs but didn't find more accurate information than "win it at the chocobo race" there.

General Discussion / FF7 - I can't find the key to Midgar
« on: 2005-03-13 00:22:46 »
I finally found it. I simply dug near the broken plane without placing any diggers. Those had always taken me away from the place where the key is.

When I went to Midgar, I was supposed to see a ghost of Aeris, but I didn't see any. When I enter into the church the sprite of the little girl somehow transforms from something I can't see into the form of the little girl in about 0.1 seconds. So can I see Aeris ghost only for 0.1 seconds (this time is too short to recognize anything), or is this a bug?

I read that one should get it at the Chocobo Race in Gold Saucer. I've won already 42 races, that means 33 races in the S-Class. But still I haven't got the "Magic Counter" materia.

Do I have to win even more races, or to do something different to get the materia?

remove that Key item from the editor then go to Midgar and talk to the guy, he will expain where he lost the key, then go to bone village and click dig good, then you should find the key item

I had already "dug good" many times (about 20 times) before I tried to get the key with the editor. And I had spoken with the guy in front of Midgar.

General Discussion / FF7 - I can't find the key to Midgar
« on: 2005-03-12 17:26:26 »
On CD3 one needs a key to be able to go into Midgar. I dug many many times for "good" and "little" treasures in the Bone Village, but still I haven't found the key to Midgar. Have I done something wrong? I'm confused because the diggers in the Bone Village still talk about the special harp you need on CD1, and let me only choose to dig ASWELL for a good or a little treasure.

I tried it with a save game editor and gave me the "Key to Sector 5", but I still couldn't open the door. When I go next to the door of Midgar and press "Enter", nothing happened.

Can you help me, please?

I switched also to the FastVoodoo drivers. They work fine.

No lags anymore, there is ANTI-ALIASING (there is anti-aliasing with my Monster 3D II!)

Edge anti-aliasing, to be exact.

Yes, but at least there is SOME anti-aliasing. :)

I found an inofficial driver for voodoo 2 under windows xp (FastVoodoo XP 4.0). The 3dfx demos work there but FF7 doesn't recognize my Voodoo2.

Yes, but I don't really mind anymore, because I installed Win98SE and everything works fine there with the standard official (old) Diamond Monster 3D II drivers! No lags anymore, there is ANTI-ALIASING (there is anti-aliasing with my Monster 3D II!) and fine graphics. Btw, I am using DirectX 9.

I simply bought a used Diamond Monster 3D II (voodoo 2) for 5.50 euro in the internet. I'll get it soon. Even if it doesn't work with my system, I still can use it because I have a PC for old school games (233 MHz, MsDOS 6.02, Viper 550 and a little hard disk drive) where I could install it.

General Discussion / Save anywhere in FF7?
« on: 2005-01-16 09:25:15 »
I think it's really annoying if you can only save every 2 - 3 hours. That's why I am looking for a way how to save without the need of the save point.
I found a memory code somewhere which was said to be able to enable the ability to save anywhere. Oh well, the memory code didn't work. Probably it was for the 1.0 version of FF7 and I use the 1.02 version (Animevamp patch). And maybe it could be a problem that I use the German version of FF7.
I found 2 trainers which had the option "save anywhere". They didn't work either, again probably because I have the 1.02 version.

Does someone know where to get a trainer with the option "save anywhere" for FF7 1.02? Or does someone know which memory address to change with a memhacker in order to be able to save anywhere in FF7 1.02?

There is documentation describing group searches more thouroughly on its way, whenever Trickster puts it on the site.  He is the only person with access to the site as it is a secure network.
The documents describe everything fully.

The documents will be loaded here, but ReadThis.txt is an old file and should not be viewed.
The new files will be Memory Hacking Software.doc and Memory Hacking Software.txt.

This link doesn't work. It would be nice if you could fix it.

Updated today especially for Nori.
Now converts GameHack save files so they can be opened with Memory Hacking Software.

Thank you!

I'd like to test this program but the link doesn't work. I haven't been able to find another place where to download it either. Could someone please upload it (again)?

Thanks for the information.

But I am still not sure to buy a voodoo 2 or not. Does someone have screenshots of FF7 running with different graphic systems and settings (e.g. Direct3D with geforce or 3dfx with voodoo 2)?

Graphics look equal to, or in some cases, better than the PSX edition of the game.

I heard the graphics of the PSX version look very ugly..
