General Discussion / PS-PC USB2.0 Convert V
« on: 2005-01-22 20:13:19 »
Trying to use a PS1 controller on FF7.  I'm using a PS-PC USB 2.0 Convert V as my adapter.   I went into Control Panel-> Game Options.  I selected my device check out all the buttons and they all responded, but when I go into FF7 only the keyboard works.  Any tips on how to fix?  Do I need to have Directx 5?  I'm currently using Directx 8.1.  Thanks.

Edit: 1/29
No one has a clue whether Directx 5 has to be installed to use Joypad? :(

If you want to use hardware rendering, you must have Direct3D support.

Getting Direct3D support means updating your video card driver, not your game.

Guess I can't have Direct3D support because windows 2000 or WinXP doesn't support Direct3D for voodoos

As much as I would love to upgrade to winXP, my computer just can't handle it. It is a P2 400mhz, 256mb of ram, and I don't even know what kind of video card is on here.

I've played FF7 with no issues (and full speed) on a P2 266 MHz, 256 MB of RAM, and an nVidia TNT2 with Windows XP.

You must have a really good PC.  Installed WinXP Pro on my p2 400mhz with about 192mb of ram.  I also installed WinXP Pro on my fren's Celeron 700mhz with the same amount of ram.  They both lagged.  Which WinXP are you using Home or Pro?

Is this post about improving the FF7 models in the game?  I was reading the most of the posts and I'm not too sure.  I'm quite new here so please forgive my cluelessness.

I got the game working under win2k.  I used the Compatibility option and set it as win95.  So far I got passed a the first battle and went up to the very first save.  Don't know if or when the game will crash.  If anyone needs to know how to do the Compatibility for win2k I can post it.

Hi, I just installed my old voodoo 2 into my computer.  I installed the drivers and rebooted.  I checked the FF7 configuration to see how I did on the tests.  It said I failed all the tests but the 8 pallette one.  Is a voodoo 2 not eough to handle FF7 for PC?  Any tips?  Thanks.

Thanks for the tip.  I'm going to decided whether to downgrade to win98 SE or winXP.  Thanks for the tip.

Hi, I'm pretty sure everyone has seem this post before.  I tried looking through the forums for answers, but came out with no definite answer.  I am currently running win2k on SP4.  I've read some posts that maybe the game doesn't work on SP4?  I also read that it works on SP2?  Does anyone know?  I have the problem where the game crashes on me when I enter the first battle.  I tried loading an old save I had, but still crashes once I enter the first battle.  I have read on a post that the game might work on win2k is there any confirmation on this?  I'm starting to believe that the game will only work on win9x and winXP.  As much as I would love to upgrade to winXP, my computer just can't handle it.  It is a P2 400mhz, 256mb of ram, and I don't even know what kind of video card is on here.  :erm: .   If any has any solutions please feel free to post.  Thanks for the help and your time.
