There is no lag, I just find that the game is slow paced, really slow and if it is possible I'd like to go throught some boring part of it in turbo mod (best example would be the boring kalm flash-back). I wanted to know if anyone here did make some tweaking to make this possible, thought I did have my doubts. That was the main reason I tryed to use an emulator, I am not a croock, I don't donwload a game or use emulator unless I do own the originals. (Example, I downloaded FF8 in English for pc because I was bored with the crappy french traduction)

Like I said, I have no intention to ask about emulators, I asked help for the PC version.

As for my spec AMD Athlon(tm) 64bits proccessor
2gig of ram, pc3200
Geforce 7900xfx

I started playing FF7 again. I first start on psx...the loading time was horrible. So I came to pc (I own the original in french) and started again. Loading is faster but I find the game to be a bit...slow. Mostly because I have been playing GBA & SNES roms on emulator with turbo on. So I tryed to use the ePSXe, downloaded the bios file (I own the original so again, nothing illegal). I run the emulator and rom but could not find good videos plugin to fit my CPU and video card.

My question is not about that, that was just to explain the situation. What I am wondering is, is there possible to make the PC version of the game run faster? Because frankly, I find the game kinda slow.

(This one can be used with any materia, you can use comet or ultimate with it if you want, but it seems that when ever I cast the spell, the game would somehow freeze, the caracter will stop attacking, the enemy wont do anything, the camera will keep moving and do the caracter and opponent, no one will ever attack, if you have a timer, it will keep going down without you being able to do anything about it)

Mmh, got a similar Problem but with the 'crash' within the Video...

However, I somehow figured out in which file the Opening 'Eidos Logo' is stored (a files called like 'publish.pak' in the game directory) and simply deleted it!

Worked for me after this...

(only if you don't count 'black boxes' in the Backgrounds wherever two textures should flow into another to problems, this is... but this is a problem of WinXP, my Graphics Card (driver) or so on...)

Note: Just deleting the Eidos Logo file will not lead to any other complications

I installed the latest patch, and deleted the publish.pak file, which is the the eidos tittle screen. It works, I can play.

The Eidos screen doesn't even load, or when it does, it will not switch to the squarsoft one, the screen would stay dark.

I have a gforce 5200
windows XP
512 mg DDR RAM

I know there are patches out there, but none seem to work, I didn't bother about the horizontale lines, I changed something in the config and they were gone. What bother me is the fact that the game has been running smoothly for over 2 weeks, without any patches at all. This problem start today and I didn't change anything on my pc or in the game config.

Help?

When I need to get the huge materia in Corel, I need to stop the train. After the 5 fights on the train, Cids need to use the brakes. However, when the instruction on how to use the break appear, the game will not work anymore.

The last line which should say [CANCEL] Down (I have it in French and it is [ANNULER] En bas) say [CANCEL/COLOR] Down ([ANNULER/COLOR] En bas) and the game will not work. The timer still goes down, but Cid would not move at all, no mather which key I press (same when I use ps controller)

Can any one help me, I don't want to lose that Huge materia because of a stupid bug.

Try http://www.gamefaqs.com/ they have faqs and board for all games. Dif you want ff7 or ff8, go on the playstation section, it's better then the pc one

I didnt mentioned, I have a legal copy of the game, in french, I am using windoz Xp with the chocobo patch from this site and nothing weird happened at teh chocobo races.

The game just randomly crashes once in a while. The first time was when I beat the air robot (well, the robot in the second reactor) then it happened when the Zolom used beta for the first time, and the last time it happened is at Junon, for the first time. After saving that little gir and the old woman let you rest in her house, Cloud hear a voice that speak about Tifa. When should wake up and Tifa should be standing by the bed, it crashed.

1 other bug, when I was trying to get Yuffie. I was fighting her near the mythril cave. When she was running away, the ame wuldnt crash yet, but when I would open the menu, the EXP/AP menu would appear behind it and the game would freeze. When I would get an other fight, the screen would become dark, the fight would never start. Same thing if I was changing area.

I just installed the game. I was gettting that "Autoexec.nt" bug so I followed the link and did what's it was told to so I could install it. It worked. But now I cant instal the patch.

I just used the installation disck and clicked on install and when it was over i restarted my pc.

I forgot to mention, I didn't use anything else, running windows Xp and I have the game since 1998 or at least since I was 10.

I installed it wrongly.

I specified where the game is, clicked on "Patch!"
Then I get an error message : "Unable to identifie your game executable. Do you wish to attemp adaptive patching?"
I can click on yes and no. I clicked on yes and I get this
"Could not locate XP vulnerability. This does not appear to be an unpatched FF7 executable"

So either I did something wrong either it wont work with French version.

Any help?

I am feeling a bit nostalgique today and want to play FF7. But I am from Canada, Québec and only have the game in French. So I was wondering, is the chocobo patch working with this version. I won't even try to install it and get over there if I don't get an answer cuz it would be very frustrating if it wasn't.

So does it or not?
