Well i beat king last night after getting the spaceship (I'd spell its name but i know i'll get it wrong). Interesting

I read somewhere a while ago that all the CC players show up in the space ship after you get it and have beaten them all, is that true?

ahhh kay

I'm playing through FF8 this time focused on playing Triple Triad for once (Never had before). I've played everyone in the CC Club except the "King" - i've played the black sheep guy (His CC names like magical jester or something?). I spent ages trying to find him and eventually looked in a walkthrough - not the whole thing cause i don't wanna know who it is, but it sez go talk to the doctor and the doctor isn't in the infirmatory :(. I'm at the part on disc 2 where you have to find the white seed ship (Don't tell me where it is)

the game actually only runs in 1 resolution, thats the problem, with larger screens you should have a higher resolution. But low reso on a big screen isn't good

though with emulators are different

when you put it that way it does look simpler and easier, but you still need FF7w

General Discussion / What purpose of Weapons in FF7?
« on: 2005-02-05 00:41:00 »
you don't have to attack the flying weapons, their just an extra bit. Like the goldern saucer, you don't have to go back to the play games but you can. You don't have to attack the weapons but you can

The main point in attacking them though, is if your doing a certain side quest that requires you to get some rare items, which just so happen to be held by the a couple of the weapons

but yeah to answer your question, There is no plot related point to attacking the other weapons. your not forced to attack them like you are with the midgar one - like with the midgar one you have to attack it to progress further in the game/story. Wheres with these you don't, their just extra things - like the card game in Final Fantasy 8

yeah best bet is making sure your not in Software mod and such

Your mates might of looked better for a few reasons also, the main one being, does he have a small screen then you? Running at 640x480 on a 19 inch screen won't do it justice, its like zooming right in on a picture, you always get pixelated

Wheres on a small screen, say 15" it'll look much better. I've got a old 15" screen running on my old p3 machine and the game looks about 50% better on that screen then it does on my 19" screen

General Discussion / What purpose of Weapons in FF7?
« on: 2005-02-05 00:16:08 »
yes ^^ is right

You attack the one going to midgar because it is going to destroy midgar. Even though they hate shinra, theres still people in midgar that you want to save - Marlene for instance

Thats why they attack that Weapon. The other weapons you don't HAVE to attack, the first time i played through i never fought the red one (Ruby?) that flys, i just went straight to the creator to fight Sepy.

but yeah cloud and the others only attack it to slow it down/attempt to save midgar for certain destruction

FF7 Version - Latest - v1.2
Full install w/ movies on HD? - Yes
Ultima version? - No, standard
Did you install the yamaha drivers? - Yes
Did you install directshow or the truemotion codec? - Yes, both of them
Any other patches or mods installed? - Chocobo Fix. Upside down video fix required on the Pentium 4 machines only, nothing installed on the Pentium 3

What res do you run FF7 at? 640x480
Hardware or software mode? Hardware mode

Movies: Do they play? Yup - flawlessly

Crashes
No game related crashes, but it does crash at the next battle if you tab out of the game and back in on the Pentium 4 machines, not on the P3

Other Bugs
All mini games are really fast
- Bike Game
- Snowboarding
- Underwate sub
Both in the game and at the goldern saucer. Again on the Pentium 4 machines only, not the Pentium 3

Game runs perfectly, as intended on the older pentium 3 machine, with no patchs, no stuffed videos, mini games don't fly along at 100000 fps

Can i make a suggestion, You should include questions for Final Fantasy 8 aswell, cause it has just as many problems, and for instance, my old P3 is the only one that will play it - the new p4 doesn't play the sound effects and the middle p4 - well havn't tried that one cause its out of action at the moment

General Discussion / Save anywhere in FF7?
« on: 2005-02-04 23:16:30 »
guys theres an easy solution if your using the PC version. Just get a saved game editor, go into item and give your self 99 Save Crystals

You know the crystal you get at the very end on the way down to fight sepy, it lets you save anywhere and its an item but in the game you only get 1! (i don't know if you can use it multiple times or if it disappears after using it once). if you can use it multiple times then  give your self one and your set, otherwise give your self 99 copies of it, i'm sure you won't save 99 times in 1 session and even if you do you can just save, quit out give your self some more then keep playin

just don't go overboard with the editor and start editing your character stats and stuff cause that just ruins the game

weapons don't create lifestream, they protect the planet. Same as a body guard protects their client. Weapons are the body guards of the planet.

Midgar was sucking lifestream out of the planet slowly killing it so Weapon attacked midgar to stop them stealing lifestream energy and killing the planet.

I'd suspect that Weapon would of continued around the planet destroying all the mako reactors as they all do the same thing - kill the planet. Though it was shot and destroyed by sister-ray before it even got to Midgar.

Originally Weapons were created to protect the planet vs jenova - not go around randomly killing things to get extra lifestream energy - come on this is Black & White we're talking about, their point wasn't to go around sacrificing innocents so the planet had more power but rather fight jenova and the monster jenova created after infecting the "Ancients" with a virus but when their time came to actually fight, the fight was over so they just went to sleep for aloooooong to such time as they were needed to protect the planet again, which was now

come on, its really isn't THAT hard to understand. Just go and replay the game, try and find a saved game on the net somewhere near where they start talking about weapons and stuff - probably in the lost city (i think is the first significant mention and explaination of what "Weapon"s are)

i coudl never bring my self to cheat straight out without playing the game through atleast once. Above is the most i'll do, i jst don't see the point in wasting money on a game then finishing it within the first day after you've flown through it with cheats :S

It especially shows in FPS. I'll only cheat in those when i just want to go kill stuff, and not actually play the game (Only normally lasts 10 mins tops :P)

chesso is right, perhaps you should replay the game and pay particular attention to the actual story

Maybe this will help understand, its from the FF7 time perspective

Many Years Ago:

    * The Cetra, a magical race, arrive on the planet after a long and arduous journey. Some Cetra (later known as Ancients) choose to continue their journey, whilst others settle down and eventually become humans. A few true Cetra still survive, however.

2000 Years Ago:

    * Jenova, a malevolent creature, crash-lands on the planet and causes a huge rift, the Northern Crater. Jenova infects the Cetra with a virus, turning them into monsters. Most of the remaining Cetra are slaughtered as the humans hide out in their new settlements, avoiding the terror. The Planet creates five Weapons to battle Jenova, but they are never used. A small number of surviving Cetra succeed in containing her in the Northern Crater. The Planet begins to heal itself using its life energy. (It never fully recovers.)

The full FF7 story can be found here in point form liek above. Hope that this clears that up, atleast a little bit

i agree cheating is extremely boring. But ! in games like FF7/8 it can be helpful if say your characters are under developed and your stuck in an area (the missle base in ff8 for example, where the enemies give sweet FA xp to levelup and the boss is really hard). Can be helpful to get past those situations where you want to continue the game but can't get past 1 stinkin boss

I'll admit i have cheated on occasions for the exact reason above, but i always write down everything i change, go do that part, save at the next save point and reset everything back to their original values.

Using training in short bursts like that doesn't make the game boring, but maxing your characters out with 9999hp and full stats with their ultimate weapons and 100 of each item/spell and starting with GF's that are also maxed out with every little thing is what makes it boring

its the actual video its self, i extracted it with the FMVextractor - both high and low rez versions on 2 different computers and they both crash, the high rez one crashes right after the sorceress stands up and the low rez version crashes about 2 seconds after she starts to walk out infront of the crowd

This would be so much easier if they had of put in a "Skip Video" option lol

[edit] Hey, me again, still no one around that can help? I managed to find a download on Shareaza with a stack of saved games but the closest to my point is on disc 2 :( Anyone?

I've actually finsihed FF7 - on PC too, funnily enough i hadn't even played FF8 until a little while ago and since then i've been hooked, until today when this happened :(

Here i'll supply anyone whose currently got it installed with my saved game. It really shouldn't take that long to get to the next save point would it?
http://users.tpg.com.au/adslllm2/save01

cheers - I'm actually looking around on the net to download a new copy of the first cd - Yes i do legally own an original version of the game, i didn't illegally download it - i picked it up at the local vid shop - probably should of expected something like this  :z - but i'm capped at 64k so i won't be getting it anytime soon, would be great if someone could do this for me :D

I've been searching but the closest i can find is one for the JP version thats at the beginning of CD2 - Is the part where i'm having problems right before the end of cd one or is there still some stuff there? I remember the "Gateway Team" getting locked in the house, don't tell me what happens but is there part "Resolved" on cd1 or 2?

I don't mind if there all edited to have illegal stuff, i can just use a saved game editor to edit the stats and items and stuff back to what i currently have :D

anyways i can't find a list of savedgames, can anyone point me in the right direction (Even by Pm if you don't want to post)

Hi, I wonder if its possible for someone to send me a copy of those saved games that were in the old thread if their still hanging around?

Or even play through to the next save point for me, thats be great !

and, i don't know if this is breaking the rule thats stickied about downloaded games and what not, but is it against the rules to get a specific file? Say the disc1.pak file that has the movies in it? Cause that would probably fix this issue straight up - again sorry if thats against that rule :)

Anyways i'd be forever in your dept if someone could atleast play through to the next save point, i don't want to miss out on anything as this is my first time playing the game (I know, i should be ashamed :()
My E-mail addy is [email protected]

- Cheers

on a side note, does anyone know why on my good computer (P4 3.2Ghz prescott, 6600GT PCI-e gfx card, gig of ram, xp home SP2, onbaord 8ch sound by CZilla, its a GA-8i915P Duo mobo) Non of the sound effects play? I've resort ed to playing it on my old p3 650 with a tnt2 gfx card that lags abit in heavy battles (such as the "Brothers GF" fight and such)

anyways cheers for any help :D
