Bam:

I have just finished the game, the 2012 version with bootleg. I found that running the conversion then bootleg doesn't work. What you need to is:

Delete all Final Fantasy 7 install data
Install the 2012 version
Rename ff7_en.exe to ff7.exe
Choose your desired bootleg configuration
Select the Any CD Loader from under the games tab
Run bootleg.

and it should all work. (I tried many different combination of mods and conversions and this is the only way that I could get the 2012 Version to work with bootleg, I was using the 0.40RC bootleg but it may still work with 0.39

Mount is under the "Main" tab above the "Movie Path".

When you ran bootleg the second time did you use the Install Image you can create with bootleg?

Jreeds26: To get the current bootleg to work with the 2012 version you need to rename ff7_en.exe to ff7.exe. Once bootleg is finished you need move the files in /Final Fantasy VII/data/Movies to /Final Fantasy VII/Movies. Finally you need to open up the bootloader utility and open up the configurations and select "mount". Save then exit the config and then open it again and choose the drive that was just mounted.

For the 0 copied error, the only time I've seen that is when there is not enough HDD space for the all the files and temp files.

XxwitelitexX: Are you using the 2012 version, if so you need to mount a virtual drive using the bootloader.

Hello, I have just had a little play round with this with the bootleg .40RC and so far it has been awesome. I love the idea of having the hidden items as well as extra limit breaks

however I was wondering if it were possible to be able to customize it a bit more, for example being able to choose to have the Nightmare OST or the Original one and being able to choose to have the original sound effects.

5
Ah, in that case I'm not going to be much help. I've just spent two days getting bootleg to work with the 2012 version so you will to wait for someone more experienced with the other version to help.

I wouldn't bother getting the 2012 version, they are practically the same except that some of files for the 2012 are slightly different (E.G the .exe isn't named ff7.exe but ff7_en.exe and there are 4 .exes for 4 different languages)

6
I have been trying to install everything for a while now, I am on Windows 8 and keep getting errors. I think it has something to do with the user access level, as Windows 8 puts permissions on anything installed. I keep getting 'ff7.exe not found' Even though everything is in the correct directories, etc.. I have tried to change the access levels and still nothing, I think they must reset after the .zip finishes extracting.

Just wondering if .40 has any work around for this, if not I would be happy to run a few tests and help out.

Do you have the 1998 or 2012 version?

7
My turn now.  I have same problem as this guy:

http://home.eyesonff.com/final-fantasy-viii/102904-laguna-crash.html

I assume it is a bug in the game.  Have you fixed this already Aali or do you want my crash dump?

I may have a way that can get you past that. I've never come across this before but it seems to be a pretty common one. I believe the problem is with getting into a fight and the reason I've never had it before could be because by then I always have "Encounter-None" learned and equipped. You could try that to get past there.

8
I have used every bootleg from 0.27 to 0.38 on the 1998 version with laptop with the Intel graphics card and it works perfectly (possible because this laptop also has a Nvidia card as well).

I have managed to get it working and I'm pretty sure that the problem is with the create FF7 install image. I had been using that with each bootleg install so then I decided to uninstall the 2012 version and install it again. I noticed that for some reason the create FF7 install image functions adds in an extra folder called "new folder" in there is 2 more folders called "data" and "ficedula". Ficedula has nothing inside but data has "music_ogg" and then in that all of the music files in .ogg format.

Once I deleted the extra stuff and ran bootleg everything started up as it should.

I don't have Menu Overhaul (I like it but I like keeping the battle menu as the original even more, also it has worked fine in the past)

Once I have time, I will start a game and create a report for you.

So for anyone else having any problem with the 2012 version, make sure you have a clean, vanilla install. Rename ff7_en.exe to ff7.exe and choose the no change option for the FMV cutscenes

****Edit****
Another problem with bootleg and the 2012 version is the folder placement for the movies. The movies will not play but I have an easy fix for it. Move the files from
/Final Fantasy 7/data/movies
to
/Final Fantasy 7/movies

***Note****
All of this is for the 2012 version with bootleg 0.40RC, a fix maybe added to bootleg in the future (I assume) but for now follow those steps and it should be working fine.

9
What is the new folder structure of the updated 2012 rerelease of FF7?
Where is battle.lgp located?  What errors did Bootleg generate when compiling battle.lgp?

Bootloader has an option to mount a virtual drive for FF7Disc1.
It's on the configuration page.

I looked for a mount but I missed it.

I've gone back to a vanilla 2012, I then changed the name of ff7_en.exe to ff7.exe then run bootleg 0.40RC. It got through without any errors and all the files in the correct place, I then used Bootlader to mount the virtual drive and change the data drive to match the virtual drive.

When I open open FF7 it opens and then closes once it tries to play from FF7Music.

I'm going to try bootleg again but this time without FF7Music to see if it really is the problem

10
Anyone else testing the 040 release with the 2012 version of FF7?

I tried running Bootleg, and it says that it can't find FF7.exe.

Is there anything that I am missing?

I ran into this as well.

The 2012 version has been recently updated and the .exe is no longer FF7.exe, there is now

FF7_en.exe
FF7_de.exe
FF7_es.exe
FF7_fr.exe
FF7_Launcher.exe

obviously there is now a different .exe for each language, I've have just tried renaming the FF7_en.exe to FF7.exe and bootleg is now running. I'll post back later whether or not it worked properly

****EDIT*****

Bootleg finished with the newly renamed FF7.exe but Bootleg also gets tripped up when it is looking for the CD and since the 2012 version doesn't have CDs it asks for a drive letter, I just put in my DVD drive letter. Also there was a few errors with files in the battle.lgp, this led to the battle.lgp not being recompiled and put back into its directory. So I got a vanilla battle.lgp and put that in there.

Once everything was done I tried playing it, when I open it with bootloader, it can't find the discs and closes when I try with the 2012 launcher it didn't recognize the .exe so I renamed it back to ff7_en.exe but when I open with that and with the ff7_en.exe it tries to open FF7Config but that keeps crashing and FF7 doesn't run

I then tried mucking round with the .exe's, I backed up the ff7_en.exe and ff7 config and replaced them with the ones in the 1.02 official patch, ff7config was then able to open to run and FF7 started. How ever it for some reason displayed as the lowest resolution that can be selected in the 2012 launcher settings no matter what the resolution set in FF7OpenGl, the movies didn't play and some of the mods were working but it turns out a lot worse than a vanilla 2012.

Bootleg .040RC is online for testing.
If you're willing to test it out and provide me with a report of your results, please PM me with a kind request.

Are you still after testers?
