Troubleshooting / Re: FF7 Lock-up - Yuffie Battle
« on: 2007-12-01 11:12:07 »
Thanks.

I'm keeping it in Software mode I think.. hardware mode has a few other issues (Such as some animated pre-rendered scenes not working properly, like the whirlwinds in the north cave.. they're always on full force in Direct3D mode for some reason).

Edit:

So it still won't work. The game still crashes. The battle ends, the music plays, then the music kinda stops and plays one note for a while, then it just stops. Lots of blackness..

How can I get through this bit? I want her in my party!

No it is different, the other FF games follow this design (Although the logos are smaller from VIII onwards)

Final Fantasy games in the UK have all similar boxart. They're just white with the logo on (similar to japanese ones).

The American games usually have some sort of awful mishmash of characters on the cover.

Troubleshooting / FF7 Lock-up - Yuffie Battle
« on: 2007-11-24 18:37:17 »
Hi,

So heres whats going on. I've played up until the forested area near Junon, where I want to grab Yuffie. The game will just stop once I defeat her. The battle ends, I get the exp screens, etc. Then just black. I have to force the application to close to get away from it.

Otherwise the game is perfect. The bike thing was fast but I don't really care about fixing that >_>

Does this happen often? Any settings I should change?

I'm using a laptop.

Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB RAM
160GB Hard Drive
Mobile Intel 965 Express (358MB reserved to it)
Conexant HD Audio

Drivers are all the newest, and ff7.exe (v1.02) is set in compatibility mode in 98/Me mode.

As for codecs and things, I just have the duck one. And standard DivX codecs.

Also I am using a proper version of the game.

Thanks. :)

In FFXI Pugs are like fishy things.

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/images/mobs/ShPugBubu.jpg

I think those are annoying.

But yeah, Tonberrys are also known as Pugs.

I think Marlboro are the downright worst. I hate those things. Especially in Final Fantasy VIII (Because status effects last until you cure them).

Releases / Re: need help on ff7 Higher Resolution
« on: 2006-08-28 19:00:32 »
If it's anything higher than 17", it should support 1280x960.

Besides, I'd imagine a "Out of Range" kinda message to come up if it's not supported.

Thank you for this patch. I don't really notice the blocky backgrounds so much, so it's not really a problem. Though it would be nice if you got that other 'hack' working correctly.

My game looks really good now, with FSAA and everything. I couldn't do this with my old Geforce 6200.. I can now, moved to a Radeon X1600 pro. Great card. :)

Guh. I knew something like that would happen. I actually went to that page before but closed it.

Thanks for that. :)

I'm using an ASUS pocket router. It's quite nice. Although it doesnt double as a modem. So you'll need to keep the old one.

General Discussion / Can't find FFVII 1.2 Patch
« on: 2006-08-27 12:33:23 »
Hi,

I've looked everywhere. Eidos seem to have removed it from their website (Message also states they've removed all their old support content to make room for the new stuff), and another link elsewhere is down.

I've tried google, searched for it. I get some weird 'Unofficial 1.4 patch', which I definatley do not want to try out.

Can somebody else upload it?

If you can, I can provide a download link as well, afterwards. I have about 1000GB of bandwidth on my server (Clustered).

Thanks.

I bought my copy of the game off eBay, and I got a version which had a box (Similar to the ones above, but not the same), a little leaflet inside which had mimimum specs on etc, and a CD Case with 4 discs.

« on: 2006-08-27 12:19:21 »
All this stuff is way over my head. I don't think I'd ever be able to learn it.

I can only sit down and learn languages like xhtml and css etc, cause they're simple. But programming languages? Duh. :0

.. haha. This sounds dead tragic, I'm installing FF7 again and that musics on in the background. >.>

Dont worry. Thats what this is all about. Solving your problems.. even as simple as that. :)

Seems to be gone now. Obviously a huge mistake on their part. :)

I dont claim to know anything about programming, but could you just put it in a resizable window and have it move around freely?

Im sure its pretty easy to get hold of an algorithm that does that.

But Im guessing that means a lot of distortion and unreadable text.. right? :/

Remember this though.

Take backups. And make them good backups. In multiple locations.

As most long projects such as this get flushed down the drain pretty quickly if you dont.

I get hosting from servage. 600GB bandwidth / 75000MB webspace... £5.25 a month

Good uptime as well.

I'm going to be testing every game I can think of on Vista Beta 2.

And if they don't work.. it's my job to make them work. Sort of.

Thats my goal for the next few weeks anyway.

I turn 19 in about 2 weeks.

I'm an IT Specialist. I repair computer hardware and solve software and hardware issues with them.

So. My computer is.. shall we say. Unique.

Hehe. =)

I also do a bit of charity work.

I'm also a graphic and web designer. Forgot to mention that.

General Discussion / how do i?
« on: 2005-09-03 10:39:18 »
Question.

If you kill 80 enemies before using limit 8 times, you automatically skip one.. but.

Can you go back and kill 8 snemies and get that limit you missed out?

Because I'm at that second reactor (airbuster etc).. and I've completley missed Cross-Slash and gone straight to Blade Beam.. but I like cross slash.! <.<

General Discussion / FF Merchandise?
« on: 2005-09-03 10:35:43 »
Interesting.

I have bought an FFX set before.. and this is why I don't want to use eBay.. as it's exactly like you said with the FF8 one.

Everythings got rounded edges, the metal isnt cut that well, theres dents and stuff on the sword..

The metal was dull at first, but a bit of brasso solves that.. now its almost like a mirror. :p

The ring is absolutley terrible, and the necklace..

.. Well, the necklace isnt actually that bad. It's a shame it's only one-sided and a bit on the small side.

I spent £10 on that one... but I guess I got what I paid for. :p
