FF7 Tools / Re: Yet Another Multi-Patcher
« on: 2006-01-04 03:35:51 »
Is there anyway to manipulate the amount of damage that one character can take or give? I'm talking about teammates in this case, not monsters. For example, setting the maximim damage that can be received by Cid (or character in the 3rd position in battle mode or something like that).

Archive / Weapon Modifications, Menus, Stats...How???
« on: 2005-10-30 05:22:41 »
Heh actually I'm trying out this Sephiroth patch thing, and only thing i got it partly working with the reunion patch, so i wanted Sephy to have his Masamune rather than Cloud's swords. I read an old post about Hex editing and the Kernel.BIN file with modding weapon stats and stuff, but that went way over my head....
Dammit, well there's my hopes all shot down...booo  :isee:

Anyway, thanks a lot guys.

« on: 2005-10-29 22:29:19 »
Hi, ok from what i know, lgp files are for the display purposes and models and such i think. So my question is, how on earth do you edit the name of weapons in the equip menu and the stats?? Something tells me it's a lot harder than switching the models...

I read an old thread, but I didn't wanna bring it back up, so does anyone know how to equip Cloud with the masamune itself? That is having the name AND stats intact? I know how to replace the model, but I'd like to have the name and stats there too because it's such an awesome sword..heh. From what the thread i read said, it's not possible, but that was a while ago....Does anyone know how to mess around with the weapon details??
Thanks a bunch... :erm:

Archive / Ultima editing Program Question
« on: 2005-10-25 22:32:14 »
umm...ok for example, the piece is a piece pointing up, so i changed the rotation to make it point down (180 degrees), and then i save it, but when i view it on biturn, it's still pointing up, kind of like it didn't save it or something. Do i just have to apply it to the game to see if it worked?

Edit: OMG...i'm THIS CLOSE...i got the save thing working somehow...although it doesn't save when rotating on a certain axes i think...but anyway, everything shows up right EXCEPT the hair in the mid-part, which is from the back of the neck to the lower back. I added all 3 parts to the head bone, but the middle one just won't show up >.<....I'm still working at it....ahhhh daaammmiiitttt....

Archive / Ultima editing Program Question
« on: 2005-10-25 05:05:22 »
dammit so there was an easier way all this time...>.<...

oh wait, but the thing is, that when i open an hrc file, it give the bones and which .rsd files it has on each bone right? but opening the .rsd file, i don't see the .p files it uses. It just says some other stuff with different extensions. so how would u edit the hair on? i think i know what u mean by adding the .rsd file to the bone so no new one is necessary, but its the .rsd filename u would be adding right? Shoot i think i just confused myself a little bit..... :isee: .....

Edit: Ok actually, i think i got the files i need, but how do u reposition the model?? there's rotation, reposition features and such, but is that just for viewing? because it doesn't seem to change the file...ahhhhhhhhh.....

umm...well i replaced it with the same uncorrupted video...although i 4got where i freakin' got it though, it was a while ago, think there was some backup video pack somewhere sometime...but in any case, you could try just replacing it with any working video with similar length (like another ff7 video?), but i'm not sure what the effects would be, but it might work in theory...

Heh i c....cool i'll check that out...and get my painkillers ready for the headaches im gonna run into in the process.... :isee:

Thanks guys heheh

Edit: Hey that was a pretty cool program hehe. Although I was wondering, can you merge .p files? ok basically my problem is that I wanna make one of the characters have long hair, so I'm trying to edit the hair right on the .p head file, that way i don't have to add a bone which screws up the animation of the character. I did it on ultima but it didn't work in the game...shoot..but yeah, anyway around that??  :-?
Oh and I don't think Kimera is listed on the compilation of programs thread yet, although it really should be heh.

You can try out the Sephiroth patch which edits sephiroth in place of cloud, but it hasn't been fully completed yet. I forgot where u get it, so just google it and its easy to find.

I had the same problem, the problem is that the video file for that scene is corrupted, so u gotta replace the video file on the cd, which u can do with magiciso i believe.

« on: 2005-10-23 17:47:43 »
Heh it's a cool program though, when I figured it out and got the thing I wanted working out, I was like "woooohoooooo", but then it crashed when I tried to apply it to the game heh. O well, time to search around some more...was this close....ahah. Anyway, thanks a bunch heheh

Edit: Oh btw, how about polygons? If I adjusted existing vertices and added polygons, do you know if that would work?? Problem is it's hard to figure out which vertices relate to which number based on the XYZ coordinates...  :-?

I think you can just use the Jenova editor and give yourself 99 save crystals. That way you can just use it anywhere...theoretically...though I'm not sure what the restrictions on that item are.

Archive / Ultima editing Program Question
« on: 2005-10-23 06:35:06 »
Hi I was just using Ultima to edit a .p model, adding vertices and such, and when I created a char.lgp file with the .p file replaced with the one I edited, the game crashes. Does anyone know why this happens??
Thanks

ohh...im beginning to see how it works...sort of...but this is with hrc and rsd files right? So how do you know which ".p" files go with which character? I opened an .rsd file but it listed some other filetypes...Let's say if u wanted to switch Tifa's and Aeris' models for example, then would u deal with .hrc, .rsp, or .p?? or all of them?? Mad respect for you guys who figured this stuff out...hehe...@.@

Edit: Ok I was playing around with things, and to be more specific, how would you switch the models of 2 characters with a different number of bones?? Cuz i tried and im guessing it looks screwed up because the animations are designed for a certain number of bones? How do you edit that sort of thing??

Heh yeah thanks again...although looking through some of this stuff has partly destroyed my level of confidence...I guess basically what I'm trying to figure out, is how do I figure out what parts one character is comprised of? For example, the reunion patch replaced the models for all the characters, but how do you figure out what parts go with which characters?? There are thousands of files in char.lgp, even just for ".p" files alone...

It would be great if there was a program like Mirex's Leviathon program that shows the model, but then also lists all the parts that the model uses...wait is there..? Mirex..? Anyone?? ...ahhh my head hurts......

« on: 2005-10-15 18:45:33 »
Hey umm...if Reunion is here, I was wondering, where did you get the filenames for the files that this patch replaces? For example, Cloud's files are:

Cloud:cloud_sk, chair_sk, clouds_sk, hei1_sk, hei2_sk, hei4_sk, n_cloud_sk, pcloud_sk, reifuku_sk, sd_hei_sk

But when I extract the char.lgp file, I can't find any of these files. There's a good chance that I'm probably just misinterpreting all of this, but does anyone else know??

Thanks....>.<....

Hm cool, thanks a lot for the help guys, and thanks a bunch for the huuge list Mirex... o.o....gonna try messin around with it while goin thru these damn midterms...

Oh I forgot to ask, but Mirex, would you happen to have a list of the battle.lpg files too? Or would u know where I can find one? cuz i know its a huge list and all too, so if u or anyone else can direct me to one i'd really appreciate it. How did you find out what each of them do anyway?? can you actually view them somehow...?
Anyway THanks...

Hi, I've been searching and reading for a while, and I have 3 very general questions in terms of tweaking.

1) Can sound EFFECTS, like a slash sound, be edited?? I think it wound be under the "sound" folder, but its an audio.dat file, so i dunno how to approach it...

2) If I wanted to play around and edit a patch, let's say the Sephiroth patch, I know there's probably a lot to know about the process, but where do I begin? the char.lgp file?

3) About the char.lgp file, there are tons of files in there and I have no idea what they relate to or what they mean since the filenames aren't explanatory. So is there a map/key out there based on this file stating what each extension means and what the filenames refer to???

Thanks a lot to anyone who can help me or direct me to a specific FAQ or thread (which i didnt find...damn), frankly I have an interest in this, but I'm quite a newbie in terms of editing these things... >.<....

Hi everyone, I just foudn this place, and read through a bunch of stuff...and WOW....u guys (like Reunion and Borde) are awesome...I showed my friend the game with the Reunion patch and played for a while, then I showed him how it was like originally and he was like "Wth...that's how it looked like before??" Ahah...Very nice jobs guys...frankly, I'm playing through it and I hardly even notice it's modded. It looks very original actually (despite the fact that most of the non-battle models are still sprites, but oh well). It's cool that you guys are slowly reinventing the game. =D

Ok which brings me to my question...I figured someone would've asked this alreayd, but I can't find an answer to it anywhere after searching the board. Can the "REUNION patch" and the "SEPHIROTH patch" be used together?? It crashed for me when I tried it. I guess the difference would be Sephiroth's battle model in place of the field sprite right? Anyway, is there any way to get this to work??

THanks a bunch...

Archive / Combination of Patches Problem...

Heh yeah that's the one. I'm not sure if I can just switch the models, because from what I've read around here, there are tons of things u have to know how to do to interchange moving models and stuff. I'm just wondering if anyone got that to work cuz that would be pretty cool...Thanks for the tip though. I'll try messing around with the lgp's...
Anyone else actually tried it out?

Hi everyone, I was searching the forums, and I figured this would have been mentioned somewhere along the way, but I didn't see it, tho maybe I just couldn't find it. But anyway, has anyone tried running the "Sephiroth Patch" and the "Reunion Patch" together? It doesn't seem to work, which I didn't think it would anyway, but I tried it out anyway. Is there any way to get this to work? I think the main difference would just be Sephiroth's battle model moving around instead of Cloud's when exploring. Not sure if this is even possible right now though. Does anyone know? Thanks a bunch...
