Archive / Hardware mode error!

I know that this problem is related to my nvidia drivers (78.01). The latest drivers fixed this for me, but they also broke dvd playback and every other game I own. Does anyone know what causes this error and how to fix it (maybe with rivatuner) or what newish drivers fix this? I'm using a 6600gt and software mode runs like crap for movies! thanks!

I accidently clicked the install DirectX 5 (or 6 or 7 I don't remember what it said) button during install. Did this replace my DX 9.0c or did it do nothing? Thanks!

When it's the in-game scene before one of your party members hands over the Black Materia and blacks out, intead of that green background popping up, everything just turns white. Doesn't really matter, but just wonder if there was a fix available.

Try the 81.85 drivers. I have the same card and that fixed it for me. Make sure it's in hardware mode! Make sure your sound card drivers are updated too.

General Discussion / Speed Square, breaking 5000 points?!

Alright, I'm trying to get the parasol for Aeris. I can get around 4300 points on this stupid godforsaken game, but I can't break 5000. I hit the yellow rock, I get part of the boats wheel thing (I don't think I'm doing it right), get the red balloon, get the big UFO, get the friggin 200 point light! I do everything the stupid faq says. Somehow I'm suppost to get 1500 points after the star part? I leave the plane area with over 1100 points and I can't get that score! Is there anything I am missing? Thanks!

edit: wow, nevermind! i accidently hit the yellow zeppelin (the first one thats there for like a second) and i got something like a 20000 point bonus! i was like holy crap! I ended with over 29000 points! so much for skill in that minigame, just gotta get lucky and hit the propeller!

When in hardware mode, the FMVs run fast and look great (although in game some graphics don't show up right.) But in software mode, they run a little slow and any character models on screen "float." Does anyone know how to fix this? I have 1.02 and the chocobo fix installed. Thanks!

well it worked in software mode. i ran the exe file and it created the patched exe.

ah, i just got the car thingey, and i read that laser can be learned while you're still in the previous area. is there a way to get back there and learn laser or do i really have to wait until the end of the game? oh well, guess it makes the game that much harder

alright, thanks! It's my first time playing the game and i installed the video patch, 1.02, the chocobo patch and the frame limiter for mini games. anything else i should install that will patch the game but keep it 'vanilla'? i think next time through the game i'll install the high res packs and better music packs. thanks!

I read a while ago that omnislash will crash FF7 running under XP. If so, is there a patch for this? If not, thanks!
