Well mark Kingdom Hearts 3 off the list, thats coming out for the new consoles.

Aright, thanks for the responses. I turned a corner with that project though. I see no point in remaking models that are already out there to rip and that are most likely being used by people here already.

I have thought of doing more realistic models, which I might still do however other more experienced artists could probably trump me at that, especially if square wanted to remake FFVII, finally. I have something much better in mind, something that would still beat square even if they came out with PS4 graphically enhanced FFVII. Itll be a lot of work on my part but it would make people replay this game fully just to see what Ive done.

So while Googling Cloud picks to inspire me for creating a model I came across a picture that lead me to a couple threads of people taking models from other games (FFVII based ones) and editing them for use in FFVII, on this site, in 2009. The projects were stopped abruptly.

Whats more curious is that several people doing this type of work have come up with an excuse to stop, by saying that they have bad things happening in their lives at the moment, coincidence?

This might not have been when you guys were around but do you have any clue what brought about the halt? Did lawyers contact people?

Sorry just curious whether Im going to run into any problems. I know Ive been told its fine as long as I build the characters myself but Ive been reading up on the subject.. I think if I base my models off other better looking ones in square games they can still slap me with a cease and desist.

Ill continue my plans either way because I think the fans deserve a better class of FFVII but Im not so sure how public I should be with my projects until Ive completed them. What do you think?

Bootleg Questions / Re: [Tutorial] Tifa's Bootleg

It's late and I have to go to bed, so I'll explain tomorrow when I get home from work. Look for this post to be edited.

EDIT: Download this program: http://www.mediafire.com/?zxj5iyzzmwi

Make a back-up of your battle.lpg before using it.

No installation is required. Just open it and point it to the data folder inside your FF7 installation folder. It will then show "Unlpg" and "Rebuild" options. Check the box for "Unlpg battle.lpg" and it will unpack it and open a new folder. This folder contains all the parts for every battle model that is packed inside battle.lpg. The spreadsheet I linked was to help you be aware of all the file names and what characters they correspond to. Anyways, now you want to put your Tifa files inside this folder. It's okay to overwrite since you made a back-up of your battle.lpg. Now open the UNLPG+LPG tool again, point it to the data folder, and check the box for "Rebuild battle.lpg." It will then close the folder with all the model parts and repack it into a new battle.lpg file.

That's it. Pretty simple  8)

Worked flawlessly! Thanks a whole lot. Tifa thanks you too, she would of never got with Cloud with that face.

I dont think its anything I did, I deleted everything and reinstalled it all with bootleg just to make sure. Also chose vanilla this time in case the remake changes did something.

Uhhhh... I have no idea how to do this. h-hellp. So I want to fix JKA Tifa if itll work. I downloaded the unpacker and theres five folders and inside each is a lgp.exe which double clicking it does nothing.. from what they talked about in other threads I need to use cmd with this? I also downloaded ulgpGUI_v0.5_aio which looks more straight forward with a LGP, Folder, Dump & Encode. Whichever is easiest would be the one I choose.

I guess my questions are what am I looking for and what am I doing with it when I find it? And whats the spreadsheet for?

P.S. If you find an image you like, you could probably throw it in an editing program, split it into 6 parts, and save them as opback_a_00.png, opback_b_00.png, etc. and then replace them in the ...\mods\Bootleg\cr folder. I said before there were 5 parts, but there are actually 6. Sorry about that!

I already did all that this morning, thanks though. Also put custom music in. However, I went into battle and Tifa was the default one and her face is scary looking. How do I edit that manually?

wOW thanks everyone.

EQ2Alyza, I tried all that, the problem is theres no png images to replace the original. Isnt it? Cause moving those files changes nothing for me.

I just now renamed a random wallpaper to one of the original diced up pics name (opback_b_00) and it came up when I loaded the game but only in a section. Guess Ill just dice the pic up in gimp the way the original was and then itll be fine. I have a better wallpaper in mind anyhow.

Theres just a diced up picture of the JordieBo wallpaper. Am I supposed to have a diced up pick of the wallpaper I want? Cause that didnt come in the zip.

Yep thats why.

Might as well tell you I also had some problem with music but fixed it after finding a download for ff7 music (which didnt install for me during bootleg) and tinkering with its settings.

My only problem now is I cant seem to change my prelude wallpaper at all through bootleg. Its just stuck on the JordieBo one no matter which I pick. I even tried following the note on the Grimmy Sephiroth (since Jordies links are dead) one to manually do it but it didnt change a thing.

Quote:
"1. Back up original cr_us.lgp
2  replace with new cr_us.lgp, changing name from XXXXXXcr_us.lgp to cr_us.lgp"

I replaced it in the 2 locations I found the files ( data\ccr & data\cd) and nothing happened. Im sure theres an easy answer for this and Im missing something.

Oh okay. Thanks, guess I'll do some digging. *equips a shovel and spins it to the fan fare music then places it on his back*

Alright cool. Can you point me to a helpful thread to get started or a list of programs that people use?

Eh, nvm looks like they built the things. They just look really really close to the CG models. So Id have to build the models myself from the ground up and even if they look identical to the official ones Im safe to share?

Yeah its pretty good at that, seemed like a hot mess when i was reading how to do it but its kind of straight forward. Download the mods put them in a folder, download bootleg, run it, choose your mods, select the folders everything's in, check for red, and then run it and wait a year.

15
Guess that explains it. But how are the FMV field models not illegal?

No the menu that popped up was Aali's. I just thought I had to see the actual name Aali's blah blah blah in the select list for graphics. Little did I know I was already using it.

Just a heads up, to benefit others you may want to change the tutorial and put the part about Aali's Custom Graphics Driver (more specifically tell them to download it first) before you go into the bootleg settings. It would save people, like myself, from having to stop everything after getting to the point of the graphics and sound. Having to exit out and install Aali's Driver and then have to click run and wait for it to get to the graphics driver tab all over again.

I was wondering how hard it is to grab models from say Dissidia or Itadaki Street Special and use them in FFVII. Ive seen videos of a guy using those models and some of his own but hes not sharing. Is it a long journey, is that why people have made their own renditions instead? If I wanted to do this what tools would I need to use?
