Doing a playthrough now with hardcore mod and will keep fraps handy to screenshot any oddities I find. One thing I noticed though is weapon balance issues, because her Ultimate Weapon is acquired early won't it seem weak later on? the damage is maxed out at 52 while everyone else has 95+.  I guess it won't matter much if she stays a caster class.

edit: Mhmmm just read that hardcore now has a weapon quest for her...any idea/guide where to start this then?

Just reporting that this breaks the new battle interface option in bootleg .040. Since you removed the option, my game always has the black bar in place where the battle menu is so i'm forced to revert.

And as stated, disable_popups is gone now? Why? I hate messages spamming my screen when something goes wrong.

Please add these two options back in for compatibility and convenience.

Some constructive criticism on the battle models:

1. Aeris's expression looks slightly derpy somehow? I think it is mainly her eyes - they feel too close together like cross eyed.
2. Yuffie's expression is really weird and eyes are off. She no longer looks cute or cheeky and this breaks her character feel to the point I don't feel like using her.
http://static2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120320221355/finalfantasy/images/d/d2/Mystery_Ninja_FF7.png is how the original looks? I much prefer this one
3. Cloud's chin/jawline feels too wide and makes him look older/chubby.

Barret, Red XIII and Tifa look great! Have yet to unlock everyone else

Gameplay / Re: gjoerulv's hardcore mod guides? FF VII

So this mod has essentially revamped and improved my FF7 experience by a million. No longer are bosses or enemies pushovers and the game feels much more rewarding.

Some notable fights and good experiences include:

- Being absolutely smashed by the Shinra 65th Trio until I locked my strategy down. Serious wake-up call
- Defeating Dyne with Barret at 92 hp and no mp left. If he wasn't poisoned I would have died as it was his turn to hit me again
- Defeating Midgar Zolem with Cloud taking a last hit that brought him down to 211 HP. I had casted Cura the previous turn which meant that If I didn't survive his hit it was game over. Also unlocked Beta for 2 enemy skill materias!
- Defeating a  lvl 49 Harpy and unlocking Aqualung skill with a level 24 party. Each time he casted Aqualung I would be instagibbed if I was not fully healed and had mbarrier on. Truly epic fight.
- Chocobuckle - Since lvl4 Suicide is different i had to hit a chocobo for 31/32 of it's Hp in a single attack. Took some time, tweaking and luck to find that single attack.
- Getting a chocobo can be quite the challenge as you need to kill the surrounding enemies fast. Had to use 2 limit breaks to quickly kill off mandragora who seem to be tanky as hell.

Some bad experiences:

- Being level 1 at the start just means you have to grind it a fair bit to even defeat the first boss.
- Silver chocobo stopped attacking after awhile? i wailed on it until it died.
- Conjurer and Cazodor are plain cheap and overpowered. No point even battling them if you aren't overleveled. Even with elemental armor it is a chance to get the right combo. Encountering a group of Cazodor = run for your life. They are harder and cheaper than bosses basically.
- Dependency on magic based attacks so far. Why bother with normal attacks at low levels when they do piddly damage in comparison? I hear this evens out later but I feel like I'm playing 3 mages.

I know I should not be mixing mods, but the reason I really wanted to NOT use ff7music is that I found it buggy with music lagging, cutting and bugging out. After continuous gameplay the music sync and issues eventually get worse and worse. I'm not sure if this is a common problem but it's really annoying.

So I now understand A04 Release needs Aali's Latest Driver which was outdated in Bootleg 040 and it does not require ff7music to run anymore. This is why the .cfg was invalid and could not be found. I can actually get it working but alas the new release of Aali's driver now breaks the new battle interface mod installed by bootleg, massive black bar where the battle menu is. And trying to install another battle interface via Reunion/Team Avalanche will probably break something else since it will override bootleg 040's settings? Sigh, I guess I will wait for an updated bootleg in that case and bear with the buggy music.

And I didn't want to sound mean when I said vague, it wasn't aimed at you directly but rather my frustration with the majority of the mods on here. In comparison to say modding a game like Skyrim which comes with a much larger community + mod manager, trying to get things to work here is more of a headache. A couple things they really do well there is emphasizing full install instructions, preview pictures/video and FAQ etc.

I don't get how A04 Release is supposed to work. I have bootleg 040 installed so is A04 necessary to install for new features? If I try install it over my bootleg game with ff7music previously installed, I get "could not load music plugin" error because the vgstream or music_ogg .cfg is nonexistent in the plugin folder. If i change the plugin in bootloader to ff7music.cfg I get no music at all.

What do you mean by...

A04 13.Jan.2014
Installer no longer supports FF7Music.
Now supports new Aali Driver and 2012 versions.

You say in your first post it also installs ff7music but now it doesn't support it? Does this release work independently and does NOT use the ff7music.exe but instead loads the files directly?

Basically, how the hell do you get this working with Tifa's Bootleg? Do i need to update the Aali driver etc? Everything seems so vague FFS

Ok so trying to get this work was a pain in the ass. Seriously, I really appreciate the work and effort put into mods here but it is not very newb friendly at all if you want to use mods outside of bootleg as there is a severe lack of good guides that actually explain how to install stuff. This kind of stuff should be added in mod/tool descriptions and stickied. After messing around with the highwind tool, extracting/repacking .lgps with the single files provided (which resulted in crashes on world map), I finally got it working because of cmh175's post on page 11.

How to install this mod (with bootleg 040 game installed):

1. First of all download the Unshaded-Models-1.64.1.7z in .iro form. http://www.file-upload.net/download-8440336/Unshaded-Models-1.64.1.7z.html . Unzip into a folder somewhere.
2. Next download 7thHeaven tool - http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=14490.0 . Extract it then make sure "7thHeaven.exe" application is set to "Run as Administrator" in the file settings. You can set this by right clicking on the .exe file and choosing 'Properties' and 'Compatibility'.
3. Open up 7thHeaven tool. Click on the 'Library' tab, Click on 'Import' tab and then 'from iro archive'. Navigate to where you extracted the unshaded-models .iro files and add both of them.
4. They should now be in your library. Activate the mods you want and you can also configure the options under the 'Active mods' tab.
5. Once this is done we need to configure the 7thHeaven tool to locate your game files. Click on 'workshop' in the top left corner and then 'settings'. Let it auto detect where your install files are if it asks - by default it should fine everything. Now the important part if you want to use FF7Music, under the 'Also launch' setting which should be empty, locate and select your ff7music.exe file in your install folder. For me this is D:\Steam\SteamApps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\FF7Music\FF7Music.exe.
6. Now you are ready to launch the game. Your Bootloader settings will be carried over so if you want to change anything then do it in Bootloader first. Both the game client and FF7Music should launch at the same time. If you are getting an error make sure 7thHeaven Tool and your ff7.exe have administrator privileges.
