My guess is that you are using a high DPI screen and have scaling turned on. Try right-clicking on the desktop, choose Display Settings, and then scroll down a bit until you see Scale and Layout. See if you have a scaling percent above 100%. If so, turn it down to 100% until you finish the install.

That was it! Had to sign out of windows for the fix to work - thank you so much!

Hello all, I'm running Windows 10, 64bit, and a fresh install of the steam version of FF7 and am trying to install The Reunion, but the screen that opens shows Sephiroth, I click next, then my window cuts off the installer and no longer works. I tried tabbing to select an entry but it just sends me back to the intro screen, leaving me forever stuck in a loop from hell. Anyone run into this before?

Thank you  so much for the detailed help!  My file counts were off, so I think something got messed up during the installation.  I had to completely uninstall bootloader and the game, and then reinstall it.  Now it works!

Thanks again for all of your help!

OK, I think I found the problem: I don't have a folder in my root path titled FF7_Music.

I'm sure this has to be why I dont have music.  Umm... how do i fix this?

**UPDATE**

Nevermine, I'm an idiot.  How do I share a document here? the .ini is pretty meaty and I dont have a .log file in my \ficedula folder.

I tried Kompass63's patch and I still don't have music (just SFX), how do I provide the log? Where is it located?

Did you extract the Multi.dll file and edit the line load_library = Multi.dll into your ff7_opengl.cfg?

Yes'm.  I copied over my Multi.dll file and the load_library line was already in my .cfg file.

I will give that patch a try and report back when I get a minute.  Thank you for your responses!

Rolling back the drivers to the latest nvidia official release (320.49) worked!  It bums me out that I cant use the most recent beta drivers to run this, so I will have to be constantly swapping back and forth to play other games, but it works now!!!

Thanks!

**UPDATE**

UGH. now the music isn't working.  The sound effects (being hit during battle and cruising through the menu) are there, but none of the game music is working.  I followed the FAQ for the sound related issue, but when I opened the zip folder I couldn't find the "LOADR" files it was referring to.

**UPDATE 2**
Found the LOADR folder (had 2 files inside: FF7AlwaysRun, FF7anyCDv2) and copied it to the DLL_in folder and I still don't have music.  I've run the ff7config and I can hear the playback options.

I will try rolling back my nvidia graphics driver, but what I don't get is that I had this up and running less than 2 weeks ago and it was working flawlessly.  Everything else in the faq doesn't really apply to me (all the proper windows popped during installation, so I know the custom driver is installed).  Thanks for responding to this post!  I will report back once I try it.

I know the last post on this was forever ago, but I am now encountering a similar problem: right after a fresh install of FF7 from steam, and then following the install guide from here: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=13212.msg183580;topicseen#msg183580, I cannot get this to work.  The Eidos screen along with the Chocobo splash screen before the start screen all play fine, but my start screen is white.  If I click new game, it plays the intro movie with the no problem. But everything else is faded white (like the textures are missing), but the Cloud character model is there.  I have no idea on what information to provide to get help, and I would be happy to provide it if told how to find it.

What am I doing wrong?  Please help!
