In truth I don't really care about the achievements. Mainly I just wanted to see how many improvements I can make by manipulating the battle.lgp and char.lgp before it causes any dragging or lock ups. I have already installed updated character models for the good guys in battle and field and I just found some battles scenes in lgp that I can try. I am still looking for some new field backgrounds, enemy and npc upgrades in lgp as I assume those can be altered in this way too.

Especially those npc's, looks funny cloud and the gang running around looking awesome in a world of lego people  :-D

General Discussion / Steam, mods and lgp/unlgp
« on: 2014-08-26 23:44:25 »
I posted awhile back trying to use mods and not having much luck cause my laptop is kinda cheap and a little old with no memory for the graphics, so therefore i was getting crashes and lots of hangups.

I have however had great success inserting models just by downloading them individually and and using the lgp/unlgp tool to modify my battle.lgp and so on. I was just wondering if anybody knew how far I could go with this? Could I change to some updated enemy models or the backgrounds, or better yet the non playable characters. Does anyone have the files for just the npc's? I found character models easy but not much for the other characters or enemies.

Also for other steamers the lgp/unlgp tool and just changing the battle.lgp and char.lgp files doesn't affect the steam achievements, or at least they didn't on mine.

I never could get a full download of Omzy's, 3 or 4 hours hours and get right to the end and it would error out.

But I have noticed that this steam version, the graphics alone are much better looking the the PS1, you can see much more detail and everything looks crisp. I didn't even play it any before trying the mods. The game runs great with no mods so probably I was trying to do a bit too much. Actually I wouldn't mind just playing with the updated character models and that's all. I will tinker around with it some more. Thanks again!  :)

Ok, so basically I need a new rig. Oh well, i would try my desktop but it is lots older. Breaks my heart. I have loved this game since I first played it back in the late nineties. In fact I still have my ps1 version but was really exited to play with the updated mods. lol, I even have ff1 on nes and a nes that still works, and all the ps1 versions from ff1 to ff9. I will try these suggestions and just run bare bones until I get a new rig. Thanks for all the mods and info, you guys are awesome, make an old man happy  :) ;D

Troubleshooting / Please Help!!

I have been trying to get this going all week. Got it on steam, not sure if that matters.

Have reinstalled several times, still having issues. Game lags during battles when anybody attacks and after the last install it hangs from time to time just walking around. Changed a few settings and also had a crash.

Here is my APP.log, I'm not sure how to post the crash.dmp or I would. Forgive my ignorance. Any help would be greatly appreciated  :)

Troubleshooting / ff7input.cfg?
« on: 2014-07-02 14:06:43 »
I had some laptop keyboard issues, so I followed the instructions and put the patch in for ff7input.cfg. Still couldn't get my keyboard to work, but found my usb controller adapter and plugged it in, works no problem. The problem I have now is since I put in the new input.cfg the game will not run in full screen mode.

Also sometimes the games freezes and unfrezes just while walking around, not in any battles or anything so far.

It's probably something I screwed up since I really new to modding.

Any ideas?

Thanks, and since I'm new to modding I will also add this is some pretty cool stuff you guys can do!

Thanks again :D

Of course, but its cartoons. The old Bugs bunny cartoons where pretty violent too. They know the violence is not real, but the words are. And thanks for your concerns, I am not over protecting them. There is enough vulgarity in this world without them having it at home as well. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I don't really think the "s" word is necessarily appropriate for an 8 year old. Chances are he wont understand half of what's going on anyway, but he can read.

I am 37 and don't use such language. Not trying to get in a debate about parenting, but thanks for the advice nonetheless.

Ok, thanks.

Yeah I knew there wasn't much but I though Barret had one in particular when he thought Marlene was killed, has been awhile since I played through so I could be mistaken.

Also I was playing the original PS1 version and now will be playing the Steam download, not sure of any differences between the two.

Hi, kinda new here but an oldschool gamer from WAY back. I have done some searching but had no luck finding if there was a "G" rated version in any of the text mods. I want my kids to be able to enjoy the best game ever created, but would rather not have them walking around the house repeating any Cid or Barret quotes.

If there isn't any available what would be the best text editor to use to so I can do it myself?

I try to get Loveless but the links were dead.

Thanks in advance!
