Same error :/

Version 2.0.0, and I'm still running windows 7 on this PC just like I did back then.

Yeah I guess I should have posted that.

It just says "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application."

Troubleshooting / Does the Makou Reactor tool still work?
« on: 2024-01-26 10:33:42 »
Back when I modded and played this game years ago, Sega Chief was kind enough to explain to me how to use Makou Reactor to modify my flevel.lgp file and change some things regarding which battle music would play in certain areas, but this was long enough ago that I was still modding with Tifa's Bootleg and not 7th Heaven. The program is still available to download here on qhimm so I was hoping I could do it again but I can't even get it to run, I just get an error dialog. Does this thing even work anymore?

Thanks for your reply. I already am using a bunch of the mods you suggested in that list, that was actually one of the posts that kicked off my recent attempts to mod and play this game again. There's lots of good ones in there so thank you very much for the recommendations!

I know it's really old, but I'm messing around with the tools you mentioned and haven't had any success converting the APZ Cloud models into usable .iro's. I first tried simply packing the APZ model folders into their own IRO's, and they did show up in 7th but didn't change anything when activated. So, I unpacked some field and battle model .iro files from the catalog to see what their folder structure looked like, including the Ninostyle HD Field models which I am currently using. The file locations and types in Ninostyle HD Field and APZ Field had some similarities, but after an hour of failure trying to change things around and incorporate APZ into Ninostyle I decided this is over my head and I don't know what I'm doing (which is a bummer cause I was able to use it together inside another mod back in the day).

Thanks for your suggestions though Kuraudo!

Glad to see this forum is still alive and well. I played FF7 modded using Tifa's bootleg years ago, and would like to use the APZ Cloud field and battle models that I used back then but I'm not sure if I'm even able to do it with 7th heaven. The files are still available to download in the releases forum but they're not IRO files, so how can I incorporate them into my game?

If, like me, anyone else out there gets tired of that same random battle music cutting in every 15 seconds then I may have an easy solution for you. I've modded my own flevel.lgp file to have most of the maps in the game keep the field music on instead of playing the default battle BGM when you get in a fight. In places like the Temple of the Ancients and the ShinRa mansion, I find this really helps keep the vibe intact. The default track isn't gone forever though, it still plays in fights on the world map and on a few others. If you feel like giving it a try then all you need to do is replace your ff7/data/field/flevel.lgp file with this one I'm linking (make sure to save your original somewhere else first in case you want to go back ;]).

<snip>

Hope someone else enjoys this as much as I do. Cheers.

I've poked around the forum for a fix but I haven't been successful so far.

After beating Proud Clod, when I try to run onto the next screen the game just goes black and hangs there, the music still plays but everything freezes up and I have to ctrl alt del out. It was a pretty long fight, and after beating Clod for the first time, when the game crashed I nearly soiled myself.  :-o  I've since beat him again and gone back to the ShinRa building to save. Does anyone know why this happens and what I can do to fix it? Any input appreciated.

Oh, and I'm playing FF7 with Gjoerulv's hardcore mod, with a few minor adjustments I made to flevel.lgp to have the current field music stay on during battles.

*UPDATE*
I seem to have fixed it myself, the error was apparently coming from my own modification; I had used Makou Reactor to delete the command in Midgar sector 8 (md8_32, 739) that set the music for the next battle. I had also added a command to not play the battle victory music. I was unaware that there was a new encounter with the SOLDIER trio on this screen, and im guessing that deleting the first command had something to do with the crash I was getting. Anyway, I replaced my flevel file with an older version from before I made that change to that map and it works now. Derp.

Wow man, thanks Chief for such a quick and detailed reply. That doesn't sound too hard at all, I'm gonna get started right now ;D Thanks again!

Gameplay / change FF7 battle music

I was installing Tifa's mod again and I was looking everywhere on the BFE for an option to keep the current field music on during battles. After pulling some hair out I remembered to my dissapointment that that option was on the New Threat mod and not Tifa's mod, however I'm still getting really sick of that battle bgm playing every ten seconds, and I was wondering if there is any way I could include that tweak alongside the mods that are already available. I'm not 100% sure how modding works but I'm doubting that it would be as simple as moving files from one mod to another. Any help appreciated.
