« on: 2001-12-10 12:51:00 »
Thanks all. I apologise about all those frippin' weird symbols, aparently the phpBB and the font I typed the Midgar Blues in are incompatible. They are supposed to be talking marks by the way!

Sephy 3D - About the story.....I guess I haven't been around, I'm really sorry for being slack. I will check out the storyline forum now!

I have heaps more of this, and will post up soon, just have to fix all that crappy symbolness up first....

General Discussion / The Midgar Blues - A FFVII spoof
« on: 2001-12-09 13:59:00 »
Introduction

Narrator: The setting is a small, dark room. Scattered with high tech equipment, typical teenager nostalgia and other assorted rubbish. A computer screen beams in the corner of the room. A lone figure sits in front of it, fully concentrated on the screen’s contents. A digital clock on the other side of the wall reads 3:27am, glowing brightly amidst the dark surroundings.

Andy: (to self) Its time.

Narrator: The figure opens the CD drive, extracts a shiny black disc out of a cardboard jacket, placing it carefully into the drive. The sound of the disc’s revolutions fills the silent room. The computer waits patiently, waiting for a signal, a command, an order…

Andy: (clicks an icon on the Quick Launch bar)

Narrator: The disc drive springs to life, and the revolutions increase, the noise also becoming louder. The screen goes black, and then the Eidos logo appears, followed by the Squaresoft logo.

Andy: Ooooo..little chicken/chocobo creatures….

Narrator: Two options appear on the screen. One says NEW GAME, the other CONTINUE. A little hand points to New Game. The player presses [Enter] and the game starts to load…

Andy: This is where my adventure begins…

Disc One, Part One

(Introduction FMV. The camera pans slowly across a starfield for
several seconds before we see a beautiful young woman looking directly at us. Green embers waft upwards around her face. The camera moves to show that the embers are generated by a Mako furnace in a dark alley as the woman stares into it. After a few moments, she turns and leaves the alley, a basket of flowers on one arm, and stops to stand at a street corner. Our view of her is momentarily obstructed by a massive train as it speeds past through the town square. The camera swings outward through
the dark, dingy square, under a stone arch, and then begins to swing upwards. The view moves higher and higher until the entire circular city of Midgar comes into view. The Final Fantasy VII logo appears for a few moments before the camera begins to swing back down, into a different part of a city. A train is pulling into a station in another dark alley. Two guards patrol the platform. Jessie flips spectacularly off the train. The guards attack the intruder only to be knocked out by her skillful hands and feet. Barret hops out of the train, turns, and motions for another to follow.)

Andy
â€œWhat the hell?! I’m in the game!!! Err, what am I doing here? Someone help me!!! Get me outta here!!!!!! Arggh bugger it, I'll just play along.”

Barret
        "C'mon newcomer. Follow me."

Andy
“You heard the man. Move that spikey-ass!”

(He runs upstairs with Andy. Cloud flips out of the train and follows him. Two guards come down the stairs down to the train
platform, blocking his path.)

(Battle sequence with two guards)

(After the battle, Cloud runs up the stairs and meets the
group – Andy, Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge, opening the main gate
to a Mako reactor.)

Biggs
"Wow! You used to be in SOLDIER all right! ...Not
everyday ya find one in a group like AVALANCHE."

Jessie
         "SOLDIER? Aren't they the enemy?"
"What's he doing with us in AVALANCHE?"

Andy
“Buggered if I know. Probably for the money.”

Biggs
"Hold it, Jessie. He WAS in SOLDIER."
"He quit them and now is one of us."
         "Didn't catch your name..."

(The PLAYER names Cloud)

Cloud
         "...Cloud."

Andy
“Nice name, shame about the hair.”

Biggs
         "Cloud, eh? I'm..."

Cloud
"I don't care what your names are. Once this job's over... I'm outta here."

Andy
         (mutters) “Sheesh….no respect I tell ya…”

(Barret comes running up from offscreen.)

Barret
"The hell you all doin'!? I thought I told you never to move in a group!"
"Our target's the North Mako Reactor. We'll meet on the bridge in front of it."

(The group heads through the gate. Barret stops and turns to face Cloud.)

         "Ex-SOLDIER, huh? Don't trust ya!"

(The PLAYER names Barret)

Barret
"If you push the Directional button while pushing the [CANCEL] button to run. (earlier marked X)"

Andy
(thinks) “Pre-requisite of AVALANCHE: an extensive knowledge of Playstation controls.”

(FMV sequence. The camera swings to show the Shinra headquarters towering
above as Cloud following Barret through the
gate. Cloud follows the others to the Reactor. Wedge stays on the bridge in front of the reactor as the others head inside.)

Wedge
"I'll secure the escape passage. Concentrate on the
mission, Cloud."

Andy
â€œSecure it, all right. Who’s going to be able to fit through there?”

Wedge
"Geez, we're really gonna blow this huge furnace
up? This'll be somethin' to see!"

(Cloud follows the others into the Reactor.)

Barret
"Yo! This your first time in a reactor?"

Andy
â€œYo! Sorry, just had to say that.”

Cloud
"No. After all, I did work for Shinra, y'know."

Barret
"The planet's full of Mako energy. People here use it
every day."
"It's the life blood of the planet. But Shinra keeps suckin' the
blood out with these machines."

Cloud
"I'm not here for a lecture. Let's just hurry."

Andy
â€œMe either. Get to the point.”

Barret
"That's it! You're comin' with me from now on."

(Barret joins Cloud. The group works through the locked doors deeper inside the reactor.)

Jessie
"Biggs and I got the code for this door."

Biggs
         "Code deciphered"

Andy
â€œIs there a logical point deciphering a code you already have?”

(They go through the door.)

Biggs
"Think how many of our people risked their lives, just for this code..."

Jessie
         "Code deciphered"

(They go through the door and work deeper into the reactor. Biggs stays at the door. They enter an elevator)

Jessie
         "Push that button over there!"

(Cloud presses the button. The elevator starts moving.)

Barret
"Little by little the reactors'll drain out all the life. And
that'll be that."

Cloud
         "It's not my problem."

Andy
         â€œI second that.”

Barret
         "The planet's dyin', Cloud!"

Cloud
"The only thing I care about is finishin' this job before
security and the Roboguards come."

Andy
         â€œSo Roboguards aren’t security?

(Barret turns away, shaking with anger, then looks back over his shoulder at Cloud and rejoins him. The elevator stops and
Jessie gets off. They continue into the reactor.)

Jessie
"Push the [OK] button in front of a ladder to grab on to it.
After that, use the [Directional button] to move up and down."

Andy
â€œI see neither of those buttons remotely closeby. How about just grab hold of the ladder and climb?”

(Jessie stays behind. Cloud, Barret and Andy continue to the reactor core.)

Barret
"When we blow this place, this ain't gonna be nothin' more
than a hunka junk."
         "Cloud, you set the bomb."

Cloud
         "Shouldn't you do it?"

Andy
         â€œMe! Me! Pick me!”

Barret
"Jus' do it! I gotta watch to make sure you don't pull nothin'."

Andy
â€œJeez! You two aren’t any fun!”

Cloud
         "Fine, be my guest."

(As Cloud moves to set the bomb, the screen dims and something speaks into his mind.)

         Watch out!
         This isn't just a reactor!!

Andy
â€œYeah it is. Unless its one of those magic flying Gardens from FF8.”

(It stops abruptly.)

Barret
         "...What's wrong?"

Cloud
         "Huh?"

Andy
         â€œI beg your pardon?”

Barret
"What's wrong, Cloud? Hurry it up!"

Cloud
         "Yeah, sorry."

Andy
         â€œDamn right you sorry!”

(Cloud sets the bomb. An alarm begins to sound and red lights
flash.)

Barret
         "Heads up, here they come!"

Andy
         â€œWho’s com—Arghhh!! Scorpion!!!”

(Boss battle with Guard Scorpion)

Cloud
"Come on, let's get outta here!"

         Ten minutes to detonation!

Andy
         â€œErr…..who just said that?!”

(They rush back out through the reactor until they meet up with Jessie where she had stayed behind. She has one leg caught in the grate she's standing on.)

Cloud
         "You all right?"

Jessie
         "My leg got stuck."

(Cloud pulls her out.)

Andy
â€œShe said her leg, you buffoon!”

Jessie
         "Thanks!"

(They continue to hurry out of the reactor.)

Biggs
         "Let's go!"

Andy
â€œOooo! Can I crack the code?”

Jessie
         "Code deciphered"

Andy
â€œFine, Ms. Smarty Pants. But I bags the ID card making!”

(They go through the door.)

Jessie
         "Alright, be careful."

Biggs
        "Code deciphered"

(They go through the door and exit the reactor. On the way out, Jessie falls. Cloud helps her up and they sprint away. FMV sequence. The reactor emits a ring of fire as it explodes spectacularly against the night sky.)

Disc One, Part Two

(Cloud, Barret, Andy, Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie are in a dark tunnel littered with debris and broken metal.)

Biggs
"That should keep the planet going... at least a little longer."

Wedge
         "Yeah."

Barret
         "........."

(Jessie plants an explosive against the pile of debris blocking their exit.)

Jessie
         "OK! Now everyone get back."

Andy
         â€œYou want me to —“

(They stand back and a wall explodes, opening a way to a courtyard. Wedge's butt seems to be on fire. Andy is covered in soot.)

Andy
         â€œâ€”get back. Ouch.”

Barret
"All right, now let's get out of here."
"Rendezvous at Sector 8 station! Split up and get on the train!"

(They all exit except Barret, Andy and Cloud.)

Cloud
         "H, hey!"

Andy
         â€œW, what?”

Barret
"If it's about your money save it 'til we're back at the hideout."

(Barret exits. Cloud goes after him into the streets of Midgar. Andy is still stunned by the explosive blast.)

Disc One, Part Three

(A few people are running around a street corner, bumping into a woman standing there, knocking her down. She stands up and calmly brushes herself off. Cloud and Andy enter.)

Flower girl
         "Excuse me."
         "What happened?"

You'd better get out of here
         Nothing... hey, listen...

***Cloud
         Nothing... hey, listen...
         "........."

Don't see many flowers around here
         Never mind

***Cloud
Don't see many flowers around here

Flower girl
"Oh, these? Do you like them? They're only a gil....?"

Andy
â€œOnly a gil?!? Lady, that’s a pretty bad profit margin.”

         Buy one
         Forget it

***Cloud
         Buy one

Flower girl
         "Oh, thank you!"
         "Here you are!"

(She gives Cloud a flower and walks off. Cloud continues through the streets of Midgar. Andy follows.)

People on the street
"Just what the hell's going on!?"

Andy
         â€œNone of your slummy business.”

"Wonder what that is on the wall over there. Let's see..."
Don't be fooled by Shinra! Mako energy doesn't last forever! Mako
is the planet's lifesource! The end is in sight!
         Protectors of the planet: AVALANCHE

Andy
â€œNice graffiti work. Pity they haven’t advertised on public transport yet.”

(Cloud reaches a dark street. A soldier patrolling the area spots him. Andy ducks out of sight.)

Soldier
         "Hey! You there!"

Andy
         â€œPhew! Lucky I brought my disguise today…”

Cloud
         "Shinra soldiers..."

         Fight them
         Leave

Cloud
         Fight them

(Three battles with Shinra soldiers. After the third battle, Cloud is
surrounded.)

Soldier
"That's as far as you go."

Cloud
"I don't have time to be messin' around with you guys."

Andy
â€œMe neither. In fact, I don’t know why I’m ev—“

Soldier
         "Enough babbling! Grab him!"

Andy
         â€œMe?!”

(The soldiers close in. Cloud backs away, but his path is blocked as he reaches a railing. Below him are the train tracks. FMV sequence. Cloud jumps off the balcony onto the train as it rushes by. Andy follows suit.)

That's so far...more to come!

I will have to resize the Cloud picture for Version 1.01, because it is on every page, and I might as well redo that when I make the next version. I am hopefully going to make a Flash Intro too  And the choice between good-looking and fast-loading.

FFVIIRM is just to reinforce our desire for the PS2 recreation, and also a remake on PC. I am basically fighting for the PC side, I don't own a PSX or PS2.

And Sephy3D, I am just redoing the Links page. Lol sorry I forgot!

Cool, thanks for the feedback. I guess optimal performance is that of Cable users and above. I might have a enhanced/modem-friendly choice before the actual site. Hmmmm......that will probably be Version 1.01

Hey pplz,

I don't know if I should be posting this here, but basically I've made my FFVII-related site, and I want to know what you all think of it. Its here : http://thewfiles.20fr.com
The programs there are courtesy of Ficedula, and I've posted the History of FFVII, which is subject to change, as well as my Assassin story.

Cheers,

However, I will be able to check my Hotmail, so if anyone wants to contact me, its [email protected] . I hope my absense does not jeapardize my applicaton for FFR!

Sounds good. Indeed, an entire written copy of the history of Final Fantasy VII is invaluable, because it is a hard copy, but we can also consult with our minds too. I guess I just wanted to get this down in words, like I do with any other ideas I have that I never want to lose. (if you want a copy of my story Assassin I can send it to you, just to give you an idea of what sort of an author I am)

BTW, I have added you to my ICQ list, because I would like to discuss this much further, and also since you said you're the person to impress, I wouldn't mind getting to know you first!

Hmmm.....after reading through your post, I realise that there are quite a few things missing, and also many errors in my explanation. Together with my personal experience in FFVII, and sources gathered from various sites, I managed to type this up. However, as I mentioned before, this is only a rough draft. I did not concentrate on many aspects such as Yuffie, Vincent, Corel Village and the birth of AVALANCHE, because I was trying to discuss the more complex aspects which many gamers seem to get quite confused. The story of Cloud took me quite a long time to fully understand, and also the story of Sephiroth and Jenova. The explanation is targeted at gamers who are struggling to grasp the concept of the story, and I added a little bit of history of Jenova's landing (which I admit I rushed) to give them an understanding of what happened before the story of FFVII is set.

I again apologise for the chronological mix-ups and errors, but as I said before, this was the first copy. I was pretty excited because I have never written the history of FFVII out before, so I posted it up here. I will go back and edit it, correcting my mistakes, and also probably adding things I missed like Barret's history and more about Wutai.

And in terms of impressing you, I hope I am doing alright

EDIT : I don't know if I said anything yet, but I'm only 16, and I don't know how many people around here are the same age. I know ficedula and The Saint are both a couple of years older than me. Maybe it is the reason for my restricted vocab......:???:

EDIT 2 : I was just browsing around, and one of my respected sources states that the Cetra were born of the Planet, that they did not arrive there, they were actually the Children of the Planet. I see where I made my error in the other thread though. The Cetra who gave up looking for the Promised Land, which was an extreme hardship, became humans.

Oops, sorry I forgot to type in my Username & password, I'm on the school computers now. So I = Mr Anonymous above lol

EDIT : I just realised my mistake. The Cetra were in fact humans with an amazing ability to be in touch with the Planet, and aqcuire large amounts of knowledge and wisdom. However, in my previous post, I said that humans were produced by the Planet because the Cetra were being killed off. This is partially true. Humans were created by the Planet, but they were not created because of the massive slaughtering of the Cetra. Humans were basically Cetra who had given up on the hardships involved in searching for the Promised Land and spiritual enlightenment. These were the first humans, the ones who gave up, and lost all their power, wisdom and knowledge.

If I remember correctly, all humans were originally Cetra, but by the time the Cetra came to Earth most of them were tired of searching for the Promised Land and gave up. Here's a little bit of logic : All Cetra are humans, but not all humans are Cetra. The world they lived on (the same world FFVII is set on) is called the Planet, not Earth. If you remember, many of the Cetra are killed off by Jenova, and after another 1700 or so years, Aeris was the last remaining Ancient. Sephiroth has no direct Ancient connection (in terms of inheritance of Ancient genes) except for when he was hurled into the Mako pit in the Mt Nibel reactor by Cloud. Humans were produced by the Planet, and had no connection with the Ancients either. I think this was probably because the Planet saw how many Cetra were killed, and needed to produce another similar lifeform to replace them.

Final Fantasy VII - Past and Present: Written by Andrew Caluzzi

Two thousand years before the story of Final Fantasy VII was set, an alien lifeform (known later as ‘Jenova’) landed on the Planet. Jenova’s prime mission was to absorb the energy of the Planet, and then continue on with other planets. It is not known why Jenova was absorbing mass amounts of energy, but it can be assumed that it was part of a larger scheme run by extra-terrestrial beings to gain this planetary energy, which could possibly be channelled into some sort of converter for their usage. Once Jenova had reached the Planet, it (genderless, note that) came in contact with the Cetra, the original inhabitants and descendants of the Planet. The Cetra did not see Jenova as being the least bit harmful, and they shared their wisdom and knowledge with it. It was then that Jenova learnt of the Black Materia, the Ultimate Destructive magic. With this immense wealth and power, Jenova could rein hell upon the Planet and in return the Planet would gather all of its energy in the Northern Crater in defence. Jenova could take this perfect opportunity to absorb all of the Planet’s energy, and then move on to the next planet. With this knowledge, Jenova set about trying to obtain this immensely powerful Black Materia, and it released a disease onto many Ancients, killing them off slowly. The few survivors of Jenova’s attack somehow managed to overcome the raging and aggressive alien, and they banished it in the Northern Crater so that it would not cause any more destruction.

One thousand, nine hundred and seventy years later (thirty years before the story of FFVII is set), a Shinra employee by the name of Professor Gast uncovered the body of the alien, which he named Jenova. He believed that Jenova was the last remaining Ancient on the Planet, and upon that assumption he founded the Jenova Project. This project involved extracting cells from Jenova’s body, selecting members of SOLDIER, injecting them with these cells, and then allowing them to grow into powerful fighters that possessed the powers of the Ancients. The only flaw in this project was that Jenova was not in fact an Ancient, and actually caused the demise of the Cetra. Professor Gast was married to Ifalna, a descendant of the Ancients, and they had only one child, Aeris, who received the Ancient genes from her mother.

Hojo, a Shinra scientist and assistant to Gast, was very intrigued by Gast’s efforts, but Hojo had a more sinister and ominous mind than the productive and conservative mind of Gast. Hojo broke into Gast’s house in Icicle Inn, in the Northern continent, and murdered him. Ifalna and her child Aeris managed to escape, and fled to Midgar, where Ifalna died on the steps of the Sector 7 train station. Elmyra, a resident of the slums, received Aeris into her family when she came across the dying Ifalna. Elmyra’s husband was supposed to be on the train, which was bringing him back from the war in Wutai. At this point in time, Hojo began his twisted experiments with Jenova cells. He impregnated his partner, Lucrecia, and then injected Jenova cells into the unborn foetus, and allowing this altered child to grow. Sephiroth was born of Lucrecia, and he possessed an amazing strength due to his inherited Jenova cells. He uses this strength to his advantage, becoming the finest of the elite Shinra troops, SOLDIER, ranking First-Class.

Cloud Strife was born and raised in Nibelheim, which also housed the Shinra Mansion. The Mansion’s basement contained many records of Gast’s experiments, and other Shinra-related material. Cloud and his childhood friend Tifa Lockheart become close while living in Nibelheim together, but Tifa is very saddened when Cloud wants to leave town at the age of 14 and join SOLDIER, and follow in the footsteps of the famous Sephiroth.

Five years before the FFVII story takes place, Third-Class SOLDIER Cloud accompanies the famous Sephiroth and a First-Class named Zack, to the Mt Nibel mako reactor, where they have been sent to investigate after reports of mutated creatures in the area. Tifa is chosen to guide the trio up the mountains, but Cloud stands guard at the entrance of the reactor and does not let her go any further, while Zack and Sephiroth go inside to investigate. It is then that Sephiroth discovers the experiments that Hojo has been conducting; housing people in mako-filled chambers and allowing them to mutate from the exposure to mako. Sephiroth realises that he has been created like this, and he completely loses his mind. He encloses himself in the basement of the Shinra Mansion, and reads up on the records of Professor Gast. Since he was indoctrinated into thinking Jenova was his mother, the records also assisted in backing this up, and then Sephiroth concluded that he was the last remaining Ancient. He decided that he would free his trapped mother, who was being stored in the Mt Nibel reactor, and then they would take over the Planet together, believing to be the rightful heirs to the Planet.

In his infuriated state, Sephiroth burns Nibelheim down to the ground, killing many innocent residents. Cloud, Zack, Tifa and her father all chase after Sephiroth, who is headed in the direction of Mt Nibel. Tifa’s father is killed first at the entrance to the secret mako infusing area, and she follows Sephiroth into the chamber. She and Zack are no match for Sephiroth’s deadly Masamune blade, and are both severely injured. Cloud follows Sephiroth to the Jenova chamber, where he challenges Sephiroth as Jenova is being released. On the bridge of the reactor, Cloud once again challenges his enemy, but Sephiroth skewers Cloud with his sword. Cloud, in a moment of amazing and incredible strength, manages to throw Sephiroth over the edge and down into the pit of Mako. Sephiroth starts to gain knowledge and wisdom of the Ancients while he is in the Lifestream, and he turns up in the Northern Cavern, encased in a condensed sphere of Mako energy. Jenova’s body was left behind at the Mt Nibel reactor, later picked up by the Shinra and transported to the Shinra HQ for further experimentation. However, the head was encased in the giant condensed ball of Mako with Sephiroth. Jenova’s mission had now become a search and destroy one, because there were still experiments that contained Jenova cells, and it needed to destroy all of the test subjects.

Tifa was rescued by her mentor Zangan. Hojo visited the Mt Nibel reactor shortly after Sephiroth’s attack, and took the wounded Zack and Cloud back to the Shinra Mansion, where he injected them with Jenova cells and encased them in chambers filled with Mako, attempting to make clones of the great Sephiroth. Cloud and Zack managed to escape the experiment, and hitchhiked their way out of Nibelheim. When they got to the border, Shinra troops shot and killed Zack. Cloud, in his extremely sick state from over-exposure to the Mako (he was not used to the Mako energy), was left to die near Zack. Amazingly, Cloud managed to survive the extreme Mako poisoning. In his sick state, he tried to recall his past and all his memories, and started to confuse himself with stories that Zack had once told him. He slowly made his way to Midgar, hoping to become a mercenary so he could find and kill Sephiroth for the damage he had done, and the pain he had caused.

And this is where the story of Final Fantasy VII begins. Cloud has joined up with the anti-Shinra terrorist group, AVALANCHE, and he begins to fight with them, blowing up Mako reactors to preserve the Planet’s energy. Cloud meets the sole-surviving Ancient, Aeris, when he falls from a reactor bridge and miraculously survives the fall, landing in the flowerbed of the Church in Sector 5 Slums. After realizing her importance and discovering her location, Professor Hojo sends the Turks to retrieve her for testing. This brings Cloud and the group to the Shinra HQ, where they discover the headless body of Jenova in a test chamber. After stopping the attempted breeding of Aeris and a ferocious looking wolf, both of which are endangered, the group are captured by the Shinra and imprisoned. Jenova breaks free from its chamber, takes the physical form of Sephiroth, and starts to make its way to the Northern Cavern, so it can combine with the head and continue with its original mission. Jenova kills President Shinra, and then disappears. Cloud and the group embark on a mission to find and destroy Sephiroth, thinking all the time that they are following the real Sephiroth, when in fact it is only Jenova in Sephiroth’s form. Jenova is luring Cloud because he has cells inside him, and is to take part in the Reunion, the great gathering of all the Jenova cells that Hojo injected.

When the group reaches the Temple of the Ancients, they see Jenova (as Sephiroth) trying to obtain the Black Materia, which has the ability to summon Meteor. Cait Sith volunteers to relinquish his stuffed body to retrieve the Black Materia, which kills the first person who touches it. But the group does not actually gain the Materia, as Jenova manipulates Cloud to hand it over. The party is left in even more confusion, and Aeris leaves the team, headed for the Ancient Capital in the Corral Valley. The voices of the Cetra she heard at the Temple of the Ancients had directed her to go and pray at the altar of Holy, which is in the hidden shrine underneath the city.

Cloud and the team arrive in time to see Sephiroth (Jenova again) strike from above and kill Aeris. The White Materia (the materia she told Cloud about in the Church) detaches from Aeris’ lifeless body and falls down into the pool of Holy that surrounds the altar, and Cloud releases her body into the pool of Holy to return her to the Planet. Jenova’s torso is defeated for the third time and is destroyed. The Reunion takes place in the Northern Cavern, and the team as well as members of the Shinra witness as the real Sephiroth is released from the ball of Mako, along with the head of Jenova. Jenova and Sephiroth then retire to the Crater, protected by a strong magical barrier. Sephiroth summons Meteor, and the Planet’s natural defense, the Weapons, start to appear. Sapphire WEAPON is destroyed by the Sister Ray Cannon in Junon, and Diamond WEAPON is killed by Cloud’s team when it comes to the Midgar shorelines. The Sister Ray is then transported to Midgar, where Hojo sets it up for firing at the Crater, firstly to penetrate the barrier of the Crater, and then to provide energy to Hojo’s son. The barrier is destroyed, but the team intercepts Hojo and destroys his three forms, and then set off on the final mission: to kill Sephiroth.

Cloud and the others navigate their way through the Whirlwind Maze, where they encounter the product of Jenova and Sephiroth combined; Jenova SYNTHESIS. Once Jenova has been destroyed, Sephiroth transforms into his godly form of Bizzaro Sephiroth with the help of Jenova, and then after his defeat, he draws more of Jenova’s power to become Safer Sephiroth. Once both of these manifested forms of pure evil have been destroyed, Cloud then delves into his own mind, where he fights Sephiroth in his human form. Cloud casts the amazing Omnislash, and slaughters his archrival, freeing the world of evil.

But Meteor is still coming, and nothing the team can do will stop it. As Cloud and the group observe, Meteor plummets towards the Planet, and is stopped by the natural defense of Holy, where it hovers right above the city of Midgar (which is an indication of how much Sephiroth hated his creators). Holy starts to have the reverse effect, and Meteor converts the Holy into its own form of energy, creating an even larger Meteor. All seems ended, until…

Lifestream. Its sparkling emerald-colored strands run throughout the Planet’s surface, all directed at Meteor. In the last attempt to save the Planet, the Lifestream forms a barrier over Midgar, and then engulfs the Meteor, causing a giant implosion. This last-ditch effort, coordinated by Aeris, returns the Planet to its original state, and evil is vanquished forever.

**MORE SPOILERS**

After reading the previous posts here, it seems like FFR will be set around the time of FFVII, and Sephiroth's birth and upbringing by Professor Hojo. I can see how the Remake would closely follow Sephiroth's life, showing how he joined SOLDIER and up until he learnt that he was a test subject in the Nibelheim reactor. It would also include the indoctrination that occured when Hojo convinced Sephiroth he was born of Jenova, rather than his real mother Lucrecia. But I saw an old post that asked people who wanted to work on the FFR storyboard to submit a 100 word piece describing how Jenova landed on the Planet 2000 years ago. Would the game have a flashback, or possibly even a start sequence, showing how the alien Jenova came and befriended the Cetra, trying to suck the energy out of the Planet. It should also show how after she killed off many Ancients with a spread disease, the remainding Cetra banished her to the Northern Crater.

I think these parts are pretty important because they set the scene for FFVII and FFR, and they document the history of Jenova and the Planet before non-Cetran existance.

EDIT : Just answering vvalentine's question ==> Jenova was an alien that came to a Planet and sucked the energy out of it, and then moved on to the next closest Planet. I do not know why it came, but it probably had its reasons

General Discussion / Remake Project Story Ideas

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

vvalentine, some very interesting ideas you have put forward there. I would like to expand on the topic of the Cetra. Your suggestions concering the Cetra, such as 'Were the Cetra a different race than the humans?' and 'Did the Cetras had a more advanced technology?' were quite interesting to ponder, as the Cetra would play a major part in the time period previous to the FFVII storyline.

My additional questions/suggestions are in relation to the Cetran race. In the Remake, maybe you should be closely, if not directly, in contact with Cetrans, and from this experience you learn a great deal about the history of the Cetra. Think back to the Ancient Capital, and the quest you undertook to find the Key of the Ancients. This key was found in a very dark cave north of Lucrecia's cave. Maybe the storyline of FFR could include an explanation (either visually or in text) of how the key was placed there, and the reasons for that.

Another idea that was brought to my attention earlier this year, when I hadn't heard of FFR. I was a regular at the TFF forums, and myself and another member were working on a Cetran language. This would be a great opportunity to incorporate the idea of a Cetran language.

If you remember in the Ancient Capital before the key was obtained, Bugenhagen translates the Cetran language on the Ancient Machine for Cloud, and comes up with the clues for finding the key ("...(even sunlight can't reach)...(Key)"). This was written in chalk, as Bugenhagen exclaimed before translating it. Around the Ancient Machine are possibly Cetran characters, which hopefully can be copied by the FFR 2D artists and reproduced and possibly incorporated into the Remake.

Feedback on these ideas would be great. Also, if you wish to get in touch with my friend who has translated many English words into Cetran, you can contact me on ICQ, my number is 136316687.

W-Cid out...
