I was long overdue a reinstall of Windows and this has done the trick. Every mod (including ESUI and CM) works absolutely perfectly.

What happened may have been a system drive conflict - I'd changed the default drive for program files and docs to another drive before eventually moving it back to c: and I was never able to delete the system folders that had been left behind. I wonder if this may have been the culprit or something related to it? Either way it doesn't matter now as we're 100% cooking

Thank you Bonez and all the other modders past and present for making the real FF7R we all wanted. It's outstanding and beyond what I ever hoped this game could be  :-*

Unfortunately no joy there. This is all that there is in the folder.

I think I'm going to have to resign myself to the fact that it's never going to work for me. I get the feeling it may be something to do with my ultrawide setup as looking at the spacing on the save menu, the extra width used is broadly in line with the horizontal ratio difference between 16:9 and 21:9. Not even setting my desktop resolution to 16:9 resolves it though which is what confuses me, perhaps somewhere in the game driver it's still calculating based on ultrawide. Regardless, the UI is lined up correctly and so are the numbers in the battle UI, it's literally just the text so the game is still playable, just not as "perfect" as I wanted it to be  ;D

I remember the last time I tried modding FF7 I asked you for help regarding your Cosmo Memory mod as I have barely any sound output despite everything appearing to be as it should. Guess what? That's still the same for me so I've given up on that too I'm afraid  :D

Edit: I just noticed that if I change my desktop resolution to 2560x1440, the "active signal resolution" is still 3440x1440 so it keeps the correct pixel ratio on the display. I change the active signal resolution to 2560x1440 and set the desktop resolution to 2560x1440 to get a stretched display. Still no movement with the font spacing so I officially give up  :-D
Thanks for your help :)

The only Qhimm Community mod I have is that tweaks and cheats one. Here's my current mod list and load order:

I'm usually savvy-ish at being able to have a poke around at files so I unpacked the iro and found this:

Is this to do with where I sometimes have the correct spacing on the new game screen but after half a second it widens itself? ESUI still does this for me even if it's the only actual mod installed which means it could be an FFNx issue?

It just confuses me how the spacing is correct before the refresh which is supposed to apply the spacing  :|

Edit: Just uninstalled, ran registry cleaner, reinstalled FF7, 7th Heaven (stable) and FFNx (canary). ESUI 2.0 is the only mod downloaded and running but sadly the results are the same :(

It's been quite torturous for some reason to get the mods I want working with 7H. Normally these sorts of things work fine for me  ;D Anyhow, ESUI 2.0 is unfortunately the only mod I just can't get working right. The only thing that's wrong is the text spacing.

I've spent 3 whole evenings now looking for a fix on the interwebs, trying different API, resolutions, window modes, aspect ratios. As you can see from the screenshots I'm on ultrawide (3440x1440) but I even tried 16:9 and 4:3 desktop resolutions too. I've tried making sure I was on a completely fresh Steam installation with nothing left behind in the registry. I've used the latest stable 7H and FFNx and the latest canary build. Even with ESUI as the one and only active mod, the text spacing is still too wide.

So finally I come, cap in hand, asking for help for my problem

p.s. If it helps at all, sometimes at the title screen, for half a second the text spacing is correct but then widens itself out  :'(

General Discussion / Re: FF7 Remake general thread

Damn, had to create a new account as I forgot my old one >_<

Anyway, if there was a like button on here, I'd probably like every one of Dan's posts and moreso on this subject.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong but is there some kind of backlash going on over in "generic flashy fps shooter land" right at this moment? Yeah, even the modern gamer dudes are starting to rebel against the mighty dev houses over the CoD franchise. Even they want something more akin to "old school" (for them at least).

This FF7 remake is absolutely not what we wanted. I'm guessing a fair percentage of you, like me, simply wanted a graphical spruce up with some sweet, modern graphics and sound alongside a fixed translation. That really is all I want. At what point did any hardcore FF7 fan actually request a complete reboot of the game?

Let's be honest, reboots are quite pants. We only have to look at the recent run of movies which are complete bab. Robocop, Total Recall, Terminator Genysisysis... There was no need to remake or reboot FF7, all we ever wanted was a technological update.
