Could you possibly post or email me your .ini file for ff7music?

First off I just want to say I really enjoyed the remasters, it really breaths some new life into the soundtrack and likewise into the game.
Not to turn this thread into a f.a.q. on how to get these into FF7music but I think the files themselves won't respond to the programs cues.  I cued up all the filenames to the mp3s and it is still dead silence.  I'm using in_mp3.dll and out_wave.dll to no avail  :?
I don't think it has something to do with the ini unless I'm wrong on this.

Did you install the TrueMotion codec? (Directshow in the FF7 installer)

P.S Out of curiosity, press your Windows key + Pause to bring up System Properties, go to Advanced, the settings button under Performance, and Data Execution Prevention. Is it set to essential Windows programs and services only or all except those I select? If it's the latter, add FF7.exe to the list of exceptions, make sure that there's a tick next to ff7.exe, OK out of all open dialog boxes, and restart the game. FF7 crashes on my server unless I add an exception for it.

Cloudster,

Did a fresh install on my other drive and modifed the key regs again and also added FF7 to the Data Execution Prevention list and bam its starting up again.  Whether it was the DEP that was preventing or the fact that I installed the directshow stuff this time Im not sure, but one thing I do know is that it REALLY doesn't like what its running.  So Im getting the full 1280 X1024 screen resolution from the hi-res patch, I muted my midi files to get the FF7 Music Cetra Patch to work again but god everything is off.  All of the menus are messed up, like inverted colors and Grey character names.  Not only this but when I get into a fight, the messed up menus are carried into the fight screen and an extreme slow down or lag is experienced.  Now I have experienced the lag on an old install before but I've never experienced the menu and color issues on the menus.  I have a couple of ideas that I'll attempt to try and salvage this version.

However for all future reference, IF anyone else has gone through a windows registration wipe from an old windows install.  All you need to do is to re - install the game in some other location, modify the REG keys for the location and add the program to the DEP list.

Thanks for the all suggestions Cloudster

-I'll probably keep at repatching what I have before I give up and re-install from scratch

You've done a solid Cloudster,  8-)

Now to see if it will recognize all the patches, if it doesn't Ill just have to go through the whole patching process, but thanks a lot!

--- It's frustrating that this process didn't work, I wish I had list of the registration keys that are added at installation because when I install the game fresh on another drive and change the folder information, it recognizes it but crashes due to the patches.  There has to be one more key that is missing here.  It there a way to extract the reg keys from install disk and see where they are being plugged in?

Thanks Cloudster,

But of course this solution didn't work, it wont recognize the install still, there must be a Square Installation Key somewhere that Im missing, any ideas of an install history in the REG history that I've forgot?

One more plea for assistance here, just need someone to run through their registration key structure folder for FF7 1.02 Hi Resolution version:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc\FINAL FANTASY VII

Cant you just save the regedit data? Or maybe you wanna clean up all the reg screen?

The problem is not so much that I am anticipating a registration wipe but rather that it has already occurred, for the future, it definitely seems like a good idea to save this information, but at the same time when you do a wipe like that things really speed up and some previously bad installs are wiped.

I'm talking about this key directory
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc\FINAL FANTASY VII

I dont have any of the keys in there any more and would appreciate someone running through their REG_BINARY, REG_DWORD, etc., codes if they could.
Again, I have the 1.02 Hi-Resolution version of FF7 currently running.

Troubleshooting / Repairing Windows and Registration Keys
« on: 2008-08-03 23:59:53 »
Hey Qhimm posters,

Just seeking a little assistance to a problem I have more than most people usual do.  Quick brief of the problem I am having.  I do not format my hard drives for any reason unless utterly dire.  Therefore when the blue screen of death appears I have consistently chosen to repair windows rather than format.  As many of you know is that when you repair windows you suffer a chance of losing information from your previous Windows Configuration settings.  One of these crucial losses is the installation history in regedit.

Now my version of FF7 I used on my old Windows setup is not recognized by this setup.  I know the problem isn't too tough to fix, but I'm wondering if anyone could give me the Reg Key structure for a 1.02 version of FF7,  I would just copy the structure from my FF8 install but I'm not sure if it is the same or if patches switch anything significant.  I have pretty much all the patches already set up and just need this Windows setup to recognize what is already there.

Your help would be appreciated.

Hi is there anyway to manipulate the music? Like FF7music lets you assign MP3s to replace midi tracks?

Probably one of the main reasons I found this forum was through Qhimm's mainsite (http://www.qhimm.com/), and also the soundfonts and patches that were found at http://ffsf.cjb.net/

The soundfont site is really good, it helps to have soundblaster live, but there are plenty of options out there.

EmperorSteele,

Thanks for pointing that out, I went back into the Cetra config , and installed the windowed patch over again, and it fixed the video.  Here we are in 2007, and I just had two questions about a nearly decade old game answered in a matter of hours, ridiculous.

Demarest,

Thanks for the help, I tried holding the run button and entering the code and it worked, but then the video stalled out, hahaha  :-).  Anyways, the only problem I have now is that there are black streaks in all of my FMV's, Im not sure where that is coming from.  Would I have to reinstall the movie player perhaps to fix that problem?

Hi,
I'm new to posting on this forum, but I have watched this forum for well over two years, I think the progress of all the patches is nothing short of amazing.  Anyways, heres the deal.  I have installed every known patch there is for FF7 , I started a new run with the hope of maxing stats beyond the number limits ( Hp: 9999, Mp:999) and have looked forward to perfecting the game again.  So I have done a flawless run so far, way ahead of myself than any previous gameplays, and I am now at the point where I am to collect the huge materias.
Rocket town:  I go through all the FMV's all the conversations, and then rush to the room to attempt and enter the launch code.  One problem, nothing, and I mean no code works.  My previous run through, I used my gamepad button translations of what the guide says to enter in (circle, square, X, X), except this time, it doesnt work.  And I swear I have attempted every other combination.  Now I'm wondering if there is a proper sequence in getting the huge materia, I got the first one from stopping the train, and I believe that I have gone to rocket town after that.  Do I have to get the one underwater before I go on the rocket ,but none of that really makes sense.  Getting this huge materia is crucial because it is one of the master materias in cosmo canyon's observatory.
Am I screwed?  Does the code randomly generate each run through?  Is there a proper sequence of collecting huge materia?
Any help would be appreciated, but I understand that it might be a glitch from all the conflicting patches.  Its still odd.
And I have checked whether or not my controller had been malfunctioning, and reinstalled in many times.
