Troubleshooting / Gets past intro videos then black screen crash

Hey guys,
Playing through the remake got me hankering to play through the original again.
Thought I'd check out the modding scene to see what there was.
Went through the process of installing the 7th Heaven thing with the Remako mods and yeah... I get the EIDOS, Squaresoft and the Final Fantasy credit / title screen then it stays on black screen and if i push enter to skip crashes to black with an error box that disappears WAYY too fast for me to read it.
Any and all guidance would be appreciated.
