I bought the mod which Mcindus sold a long time back. But I have noticed that there are a lot of updates and stuff.
I know people have complained about things like not having a 7th heaven type application. Would be awesome. But I have no idea about the existence of mod lists for this game. I want to stream it to the tv downstairs to play the game with my wife in a somewhat better style. She adores the game, but we never finished it.

At some point there must be a point of let's play the game like it is with the best graphics mods at that moment.

I don't mind paying for an all containing option. But even that isn't all that.

Currently owning on Steam the original one, not the SE one.

I am looking for the exact same thing.
Problem is, I bought the Steam version to use Lunatic Pandora and stream it downstairs to the Nvidia Shield.
Which makes it very hard to press the X key on the keyboard. 

The launcher I've been able to disable with a patched one so that one doesn't come up.
But the X button and escape is a different matter.
There is one option I found which sets the controls for your controller to keyboard ones, so that they behave like that. Not sure if X works that way. Still not to make some time to test that out.
