General Discussion / Psychological side of the characters
« on: 2003-06-05 18:28:41 »
I indeed want to dig deeper into the characters, deeper than the game itself did... As far as stereotypes go, they are all built up from one layer of consciousness, while a living person has far more...

General Discussion / Psychological side of the characters
« on: 2003-06-04 19:06:53 »
I am planning on writing a psychological report on the characters of Final Fantasy VII. (it's my job, writing psychological reports on people, lol)
I would ask of you guys; who would be interested in giving me some stuff to think about? An opinion or insight on a particulair character you think many others might have missed?
Is there any interest among you about this anyway? Please let me know'. I'd really like to do this, but not if nobody cares ;-)

General Discussion / 3D Model?

True, but I must admit that a lot more than people like them at Poly Count do can be done to make your character look good... Without making it too heavy... Better textures would do wonders already, I guess.

General Discussion / To return on that
« on: 2003-06-04 18:56:41 »
Contra, if it was Sephiroth the entire time:

1. Why was he still locked in that cocoon in the Northern Crater;
2. Why did Tifa say: "So you mean we've been following Jenova all this time?" okay, it wasn't exactly that, but it meant the same. Somebody with the script to the game, help me out here, she said it after they beat Jenova in the Whirlwind Maze.

And true, indeed, Sephiroth has 0 HP during that final battle, but that battle you are supposed to win: it doesn't matter how powerful or not he is at that moment; this is the true sephiroth, a shell of his former self, and Cloud wipes him out easily.

Try using Change instead of Omnislash: Sephiroth will then attack, hit Cloud for a good 2/3 of his HP, and Cloud will counter with a relatively weak attack, killing Sephiroth anyway.

Ehm... Just try downloading Milkshape again. It works. You probably just got it at the wrong place.

I agree with you there as it being Nojima's tribute or something alike that.

I'm a type of guy that says: Let Final Fantasy stand on it's own... Do not combine different parts together as one... Each has their own sense of reality and possibilities, and it would be a shame if all, or some, could be linked together... It would remove the word 'Final' in Final Fantasy...

General Discussion / About that code

Actually, it's the same code every time you play the game.

People, people... Let's set this straight, please.

Hojo and Lucrecia got cozy together, and after that he infused the womb with Jenova cells... Thus Sephiroth was born, and het got a tattoo of number ONE on his hand... The game clearly states that numerous times.

Cloud throws Sephiroth in the Lifestream, 16 years later in the Nibelheim reactor. Where does the Lifestream end up? The Northern Crater, where the Earth's most powerful source of energy is. Logically, this is also the place where the WEAPONs reside.

Sephiroth is crystallised here, just like any mako energy that reaches the surface, and he is sort of a fossile at that moment. He has Jenova's head with him; he took that from the reactor.

Following the Reunion Theory, Jenova's body woke up, and started moving towards the Northern Crater to get her head back. All other parts of her started moving as well at that moment. Why at that moment? I think Bugenhagen states that; thanks to the cries of the planet. Jenova did not cause that. Shinra did.

Anyway, to get Sephiroth back to life, the person who would follow out her task, and to summon meteor, she needs the black materia. That is why Jenova takes the shape of Sephiroth to manipulate Cloud, the only succeeded 'clone' still in power of thinking at a normal level... His head filled with confusion, maybe because of the Jenova cells, and maybe Jenova even manipulated him in thinking all that stuff about himself.

Jenova lured Cloud along, but did not expect an Ancient to be with him. Which is why she tried to get Cloud to kill her. When he did not, she did it herself, in Sephiroth's form.

Sephiroth awakens when Cloud gives the Black Materia to him: The Materia that reverses creation: It turned the crystal effect on Sephiroth BACKWARDS, causing him to revive.

In the end, when fighting Bizarro Sephiroth, you can clearly see two arms moving over Sephiroth when he moves... Like somebody plays him... As a puppet. These are obviously Jenova's tentacles.

Jenova is the true evil, Sephiroth was just abused, Cloud was abused, everybody was manipulated in her schemes... The only one that gave a twist to it was Hojo, who gave Sephiroth enough power to outlive Jenova and build out his own scheme...

Because when Safer Sephiroth is beaten, Cloud faces the REAL Sephiroth... An easy opponent, because he probably still is at the level 50 he was during the flashback...

I hope I didn't miss anything important. if I did, let me know.

General Discussion / Writing example
« on: 2003-06-02 17:21:52 »
"He walked through the now silent fields like a ghost... A ghost of one of the warriors that was slain here today. Laying his Masamune on the inside of his arm, Sephiroth looked around in silence. How many were killed here? it wasn't easy to estimate the damage... But they won, though. Wasn't that good enough? He smiled to himself. Hell no, ofcourse it wasn't good enough. He was born for the kill, the heat of the moment, the clashing of iron and flesh... But he had never expected that the thing he would fear most would come at the moment he saw there was no defeat in the eyes of his opponent. He did not beat him, Sephiroth understood. He had set the man free from an unstoppable future in which his once proud future would be ruled by a conglomerate known as Shinra Inc...

Sephiroth didn't enjoy working for them. He didn't enjoy the fact they had won this battle, and would probably beat Godo himself on the verges of Wutai early tomorrow...
What mattered at the moment was simple understanding of the fact why this victory was so shallow, while it was their biggest one up to date...

He stared through the broken fields, counting a few hundred dead bodies, broken equipment, some of Shinra's heavier machinery... It wasn't even worth looking at anymore.

Sephiroth put his Masamune on the ground and stared up at the stars... Yes, he knew it now. He would make sure that the agony of defeat would be in each of his enemy's eyes before he would wipe them out... Because if he didn't even receive that, what would he have left to fight for? And fighting was living, ofcourse..."

He thought back at that moment for just a second. Was that why he couldn't destroy the girl after she grabbed his weapon and tried to revnge the destruction of her village? It didn't matter anymore, now. The village was cursed, this reactor is cursed, he is cursed! And Hojo... Hojo...

Sephiroth walked out of the Jenova Chamber, his mind blurred with millions of thoughts... Pain, suffering, loneliness... They were all gone, gone into the bigger picture. After all, there was more to life after all... Finally, things seemed to look upward for him. He had taken the ehad of his mother with him. After all, why drag the entire body with you, while it is known that every cell of Jenova will get back together eventually? Isn't that what the entire Reunion Theory is about? Gast pointed that out quite nicely... If only he would've lived longer...

"Sephiroth!"

He looked over his soldier. It was the little sickly rookie soldier. His spikey blonde hair didn't cover his tear-filled eyes... Sephiroth smiled... This person in front of him... At least he managed to trigger the fire in this boy... And then the Masamune hits...

- What happened after this everybody knows. I hope I've proven myself a bit by now. This was unprepared writing, i can do a lot better than this if given the chance. ;-) -

General Discussion / Something's fishy
« on: 2003-06-02 16:06:06 »
It doesn't end up at all... Even the world map is totally different, and so much doesn't change in 1000 years. Besides... The last full Ancient (Ifalna) died when Aeris was 6... Aeris during FF7 was 22, so she died about 16 years ago...

You are NOT going to tell me the last Ancient BEFORE Ifalna died more than 984 years BEFORE that... So where are the Cetra in FFX?

Rufus stated somewhere that his father created Shinra. His dad ain't no whooping thousand years old.

Somewhere in Wutai somebody (could be yuffie herself) said Wutai was hundreds of years old... Wouldn't there be traces of it then in FFX?

And where is the Northern Crater? jenova created that when falling from space... Calamity From The Stars, remember?

It all just doesn't connect, and I agree with Rubicant this is a sorry attempt to get some more depth into a disappointing game like FFX... And FFX-2, for that matter.

There already is a Halflife model for Sephiroth, Cloud, Barret, Tifa and Vincent.

I forgot where, since I don't play Halflife myself, but I bumped into them some time ago... I'll try relocating them. If you still want to build it yourself, it's always good to have something on the back of your hand as reserve.

Since all of you seem to have the battle models and I don't, I'd like to get you guys interested in a trade...

I got a perfect Highwind, Ifrit, Squall and Midgar... 3Ds files. Anybody interested? PLEASE get me those battle models!!!

And since I'm lazy with reading back, please mail me about it ;-)

They are on EACH CD. All characters, all enemies... EACH CD. Safer Sephiroth's model can be found on CD1, even.

So they ARE on CD 2 as well, but I'm starting to think... Do you have the official version? If it's a copy, thye might have stored all models on one CD, which would make it logical that you can't find them.

if your version is official, I can't see your problem and couldn't help you out a bit; Cause I got the official and it's on my CD, right there in it's own folder...

I can give you all the ingame models and battle models (characters and enemies)  from the entire game if you like, in any format you like. Be aware that Milkshape can also import and export 3Ds files, by the way.

Though you wrote you don't need them anymore, I'm still posting this since I know there's a lot of people requesting this sorta stuff.
