Hello! I’ve been playing Alternate Fantasy and liking it quite a bit: I especially appreciate how Quinta’s Blue Magic is more interesting now, and how regular encounters are more than just bland one shots.
I just completed the first Zorn and Thorn fight though, and it was really bizarre I was wondering if you could explain what’s supposed to be going on in that fight?
Basically, both kept casting “power zorn” and “power thorn” and I’m sure it did something, but I have no idea what. Then they just spammed “Catastophe” over and over; I figured out towards the end that this might be a counterattack? But sometimes they cast it without me attacking. Anyway, it was devestating: blind is horrible to deal with in this version because your items no longer target correctly. Anyway, I held on and eventually they ran out of MP and I killed them, but that feels like a really lame way to beat them, and I’m sure I was doing something wrong?
The only other thing they cast was “Jinx” from time to time, which bizarrely used a dummy animation which just said “dummy” in English and Japanese. That feels like a mistake, right? Jinx also didn’t seem to do anything, but then one of my characters would die randomly after I attacked Zorn or Thorn, so I’m guessing that’s what Jinx did?
I’m just not sure what that battle was actually supposed to be like, because my experience didn’t feel very rewarding or very intended. Can anyone help fill me in?
