General Discussion / Re: Play FF7 CC on PC?
« on: 2009-07-29 21:16:38 »
It took the PCSX2 team several years to get something to go beyond the first couple of screens of any game (not to talk about displaying remotly correct 3d graphics...). Cut them some slack, I think they are actually being pretty speedy. I see some problems though. Maybe It's just me, but I don't see an emulator programmed in java running at decent speeds (unless the machine running it it's a really powerful). Of course I'm talking about games such as Crisis Core, all those simple 2D games can run even on relatively weak machines as we've seen.

i also thought of it as very very weird when i saw that that psx emulator is written in java, while most are written in c, c# or c++ i think.

it's a year old and it's still at 0.3. i can't see it going anywhere.

and also, if you need a quite good system to run NDS at full speed in EVERY game, i wonder what kind of computer you need to have to run EVERY psp game.

Kudistos Megistos I think your pretty much right there (i am also no expert but your opinion is pretty much the same as mine).

Could you get it to run on a PS2?
not without a emulator (which doesnt exist), And i also dont think a PS2 would be powerful enough either.

you're saying the ps2 isn't powerful enough to emulate psp?

it certainly is, only problem is there isn't an emulator.
well i was under the impression the PSP is clocked at 333Mhz and the PS2 was 299Mhz so i didnt think it would be capable to emulating it (well not at a playable speed anyway) But like i said above i an expert so i very well may be wrong, I dont own either so i am unsure.

psp is indeed clocked at 333MHz and the ps2 is indeed clocked at 299MHz, but the ps2's graphic engine is much more powerful than the psp's. also, the ps2's cpu is much different than the psp's one, as in it's much better (more cores with different tasks, etc.)

i'm not an expert either, but the psp is a ps2 made worse as far as i can see.

http://jpcsp.org/

it says there, "it can run a few games at a decent speed". by few i get it as 4, 5 and by decent speed i get it as, what 70%, maybe 80%.

EDIT: saw the compatibility page, it displays 7 games which aren't very well known (astonishia story, bust a move deluxe, breath of fire 3, blokus portable: steambot championship, puzzler collection, puzzle quest: challenge of the warlord, super fruitfall) most of which (if not all) don't run at full speed and still have several issues.

seems very thorough. great job. :P

from what i've seen of some remakes, they tend to be worse than the original.

though i would appreciate it and play it, no matter what.

but i think there's not a great margin for error, once ff7 is a great game. only thing that could be made better would be the graphics and the voice overs.

i played DQVIII and square knows how to get voice overs done. it's remarkable. as for the graphics, well... we're always improving. :)

no psp emulators for nobody. you might be able to play one or two games, but that's it.

don't bother searching for one.

You'll get it in Crisis Core, nowhere else as it can't be publicly released.

i know it's from crisis core, but there's a mod around the forums by some member who did that aeris model. i just wanted to know where ultima got it.

if you can give me a link, then i'll appreciate it very much. :)
