Did you change the driver's settings? they are in a file. You can choose what resolution to use, and if you want it on  window, or fullscreen, if you dont' mind editing a text file :P

Yeah the only thing I did was turn off fullscreen and now it goes mad on me :(
When I close ff7 my computer restores to normal resolution

Code: [Select]
# ff7_opengl config file

# use shaders, if available and supported
# turn shaders off to use the OpenGL 1.1 backend
use_shaders = yes

# plugins
# a movie plugin is required, the music plugin is optional, but required to make FF7Music work
movie_plugin = plugins/ffmpeg_movies.fgp
#music_plugin = plugins/ff7music.fgp

# vertex and fragment shaders
vert_source = shaders/main.vert
frag_source = shaders/main.frag

# post-processing shader, used to apply fullscreen effects
post_source = shaders/bloom2.post
enable_postprocessing = no

# display frames per second counter in upper right corner
show_fps = no

# display some real-time debug information
show_stats = no

# set the window size (and fullscreen resolution) of FF7
# 0 means use original resolution (whatever ff7.exe provides)
# preserve_aspect adds black borders as needed to preserve a 4:3 aspect ratio
window_size_x = 0
window_size_y = 0
preserve_aspect = yes
fullscreen = no

# prevent glitches due to rounding errors by rendering in the nearest (larger, if supported)
# multiple of the original resolution and up/down-scaling
prevent_rounding_errors = yes

# check your driver settings if this option doesn't seem to work
enable_vsync = yes

# limit snowboard, coaster and highway minigames to refresh rate / 2, i.e. 30fps for a 60hz display mode
# vsync must be enabled and working for this to have any effect
minigame_framelimiter = on

# same thing, but for the battle swirl
battleswirl_framelimiter = off

# replace FF7's default framelimiter timer source
use_new_timer = yes

# use a more stable (but less accurate) timer to control FF7's framelimiter
# this option has no effect unless the use_new_timer option is on
use_stable_timer = no

# allow FF7 to use linear filtering for its textures
# some things look slightly better with this option on, but alot of textures just lose their detail
linear_filter = off

# read files directly instead of using LGP archives
# this option requires you to have all your LGP archives unpacked in direct/, with one folder for each archive
# for example; if FF7 is looking for aaab.rsd in char.lgp, this option will make it open direct/char/aaab.rsd instead
# this option should be used for testing only, performance will take a hit
direct_mode = off

Hey guys I was having an issue and I was told to post here.

When I run the game with ff7w using Aali's driver I get this:

and when I run the game through ff7.exe using Aali's driver my entire computer resolution changes to the lowest setting. Any ideas how to fix?

3
Nope just normal screen with 1280x1024 resolution.

4
Use 16bit colour mode or Aali's driver.

But I just found another problem, when I play the game it looks like this now:

Theres a huge region of black to the upper and right side of the game.

Or, if I don't use ff7w, opening ff7.exe causes my desktop resolution to shrink to the lowest setting.

5
Thankyou very much guys, fixed it now :)

6
Using K-Lite Full Codec Pack with Truemotion disabled.

7
Nah it was fixed when I updated my graphics card (Nvidia 8600GT) driver to the latest version.

I'm only having one issue at the moment which is the cinematic issue (half of cinematic covered by black box) and this only seems to happen while in windowed mode (running with ff7w)

This is my config:

I've tried using Riva 128 and also unclicking Nvidia with no success.

8
No longer have grid lines.

9
1280x1024

Just to recap the problem, I'm having a thick black line in cinematics (first picture) and this only happens when I play it in windowed mode.

10
The cinematics are still the same but the grid lines are fixed. Any more ideas guys?

Using official 1.02 and FF7w and I'm using Windows XP

I'm having some graphic issues with FF7. This issues happen both with FF7w and running FF7 normally. Basically, in cinematics I get a thick black line in the right side through it, in game the character and save point is black, and in the menu instead of being blue and white, there's black. Also, in game I have all these random lines (squares). Can anyone help with this please?

Edit: I have fixed the black characters but I am yet to be able to fix the cinematic problems
