Team Avalanche / Re: Beta Test

tried it today. It replaced my hi res menu avatars (no big deal).

Played on a little, no problems whatsoever.

I only used it to reinstall the 2DO as I wasn't sure it was working right. Already had barrett. Didn't use the world map as I had issues with that described in another thread.

The installer worked just fine

Edited to say: sorry should have said...Win 7 X64

ok. Prior to updating to new aali driver tonight was running:
patch 1.02, apz cloud, 2DO, hi res menu, ff7music, hi res map, custom barrett and an earlier version of aali's driver. Worked fine with no crashes.

Updated Aali's driver to make full screen start menu work, and the crashes started.

I removed full screen start and new Aali driver to hopefully revert, and still had the "zoning" crashes and ff7.exe error on exit.

So..I removed the hi res map, and everything back to normal.

I'm not sure which mod caused the error on exit, but the crash on entering world map was solved by removing world map mod.

hmm, curious

I reverted back to the old stable driver, and was still getting the same crashes. I removed the new hi res maps mod, adn everything is now working as normal

Will try new driver with no map mod installed

Just letting you know. I installed the driver to solve the fullscreen start menu problem (now works fine), however, when I exit the game ff7.exe encounters an error and the program crashes.

I'm starting the game from ff7music.exe (and have removed the #). After the crash ff7music continues playing the music until I close that actual app.

Edited to say: I'm using 2D0, Apz, ff7music, hi res menu and custom barrett. Windows 7 x64.

eDIT: Also crashes when entering world map.

Ok ok the buggy....... maybe

EDIT: Has anybody ever looked at the buggy closely? It has a big fan in the back and 2 fans on the tail of the car wander what the 2 on the tail are supposed to be for

EDIT2: Interesting pic i found of the buggy looks good.

I would imagine the big fan is for "thrust" and the 2 side-fans are for changing direction

Troubleshooting / Re: Crash at start-up
« on: 2009-11-06 21:50:31 »
Hi guys! I'm on windows 7. Installed from original cd's, updated to 1.02. Edited the registry to play movies from HD.

Every time I start up FF7, it crashes at the very beginning. It's not a codec problem, because it crashes when I have the codec uninstalled as well. BUT, it does get me to the select screen when I enter a path with no movies. Any ideas?

I also just want to say THANK YOU! I played FF7 throughout my middle school/high school years, and having the opportunity to relive the experience with UPGRADES is a nostalgic feeling like no other :)

If it works when you enter a path with no movies, the opening movie itself might be the problem; check to see whether it's corrupted.

Also, can you tell us whether you have any other mods installed? If you're not using it, I suggest you download the latest version of Aali's custom graphics driver.

QFT

I recently reinstalled myself, and Aali's custom driver solved all the problems for me.

Thanks for your reply.

The problem was taht I hadn't removed the # in aali's config file. So, not a mistake in your tutorial so much as an oversight on my part.

Thanks very much for your help!

Is this a mainly US based project?

My wife and I both thought we'd enjoy this, but weren't sure whether you'd be looking for a posh female English accent or a Northern English male accent.

I do have a full studio though (cubase based) so the recording part wouldn't be a problem.

Ok, I followed your instructions:
Placed all contents of zip file in ff7 prog folder (a directory and several dlls), placed the ost mps in a folder at root of c, and pointed the config to the necessary paths.

However, when running the following text appears in the ff7music box
"DataPath is C:\Program Files (x86)\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\ficedula\
Init patches
Reading ini...
Parsing paths... -currently C:\FF7\OstRE
C:\FF7\FF7_PSF
C:\Program Files (x86)\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\ficedula\
.\

File search paths:
   C:\FF7\OstRE\
   C:\FF7\FF7_PSF\
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\ficedula\
   .\
Files count: 91
Patch init done

The game still runs ok, but it sounds as though it's the old midi files playing.

Any ideas what I may have overlooked?

Music is quite possible. However, don't use the stickied thread, because it's quite outdated and useless for Vista/7. Use this instead. [/shameless self promotion]

The crash appears not to have been anything serious and just a random crash as everything worked ok on 2nd playthrough.

A quick question, Covarr before I install the music mod. Following you guide, I downloaded the full 4 cd zip from the link provided. Do I need to rename those to match the ones in your config file?

Thanks for your replies.

I applied the 2DO on top of the others already listed as installed, and settled down for an evening's play. All went great until exiting the caves where you meet Elena, then just crashed..investigating now

Hi,
Firstly, I'd like to say thanks for the great work done on this site, which has helped me reignite an interest in FF7.

I have the game nicely up and running (thanks to the many great posts here!), and had a quick question about mod compatibility.

I'm currently using:
Apz Cloud
Avatar's by Nero
Patch 1.02
Aali's driver 0.7.1bv2
All applied using lgptools160 on Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

I am very interested in using the 2DO/Phoenix/music mods, and wondered if they are all compatible with my current setup?

Thanks in advance
