Troubleshooting / Re: Custom graphics driver for FF7/FF8
« on: 2010-05-20 16:02:38 »
Ok, I posted this on Tech Support, but this might be a better place.

I'm having trouble with a fresh install of the game and the remix patcher after installing a new SATA hard drive. I install the game, full install, with DirectX 5 and DirectShow checked (and yes, I have a higher version of DirectX), then install the remix patcher, enter the correct resolution, allow the registry to be edited, and when I launch the game, the opening credits don't play, just a black screen, then at the start menu the hand and text are still low-res, and there's no background graphic, just a black background and a big white "EXTER" in the lower right corner. If I select "New Game" then another black screen where the opening video should be. Can anyone tell me the proper course of action here?

P.S. Thanks for your response on Tech Support Nick, I tried compatibility mode, same problem...

Ok, I'm not sure what's changed in my system, but...

I got a new SATA harddrive and installed it, so I had to do a fresh install of FFVII and my mods... I installed the game and the remix patcher, and when I was all said and done (including adding the correct data to Aali's OpenGL driver and editing the registry, yadda yadda) I launch the game, and *poof*: no intro video, just a black screen... then I hit the button on my controller and it goes to the starting screen, but the hand and text are not updated to their high-res versions, and there is no graphic, just a BIG "EXTER" in the lower right of the screen... then I select New Game, and again, no video, black screen... I don't know WHAT's gone wrong now... anyone have any ideas???

Releases / Millenia's custom models

Ok guys, I'm trying to put APZ's Buster Sword in now, and it looks like the model is there, but it's got a funky texture on, it. I'm assuming it's the texture that Millenia's Buster Sword uses. so what files do I need to change/remove in order to get APZ's Buster Sword to work?

You might also wanna check this out--> http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=8915.0.

It's an installer for a TON of cool mods.  And if you use this, I suggest installing it first and THEN replacing the files in battle.lgp with the files from the AC Custom Cloud to get them to work together.

If you still have any trouble, feel free to ask! :)

EDIT: Finally got it to work... I extracted the files from the updated LGP and replaced the files that wouldn't extract with ones from the original LGP on the CD, and then copied and pasted the First Tsurugi files into that and repacked it. Thanks for all the tips guys, keep up the good work!!! :D

I opened battle.lgp with LGP tools and replaced the files WITHOUT extracting and repacking them.

I did try renaming the rtae file from the AC Cloud model's files to rtcz and then replacing using the method above and still no effect.

How do I clear the cache? I went looking around but didn't figure it out.

Hey guys, I've installed Millenia's weapons using slr1982's installer, but I want to replace Millenia's Ultima Weapon with the First Tsurugi from Kula Wende's AC Cloud...

I've used LGPTools and replaced the rtae and rtcz files in the battle.lgp with the ones from the AC Cloud files, but it hasn't changed the model or texture of the weapon in game... Millenia's Ultima Weapon is still there...

Anyone have any ideas on anything else I can/I need to do?

I replaced both the rtae and rtcz in the battle.lgp with the ones from the AC Custom Cloud files and Millenia's Ultima weapon is still there... I used the installer created by slr1982 to install Millenia's weapons, so is there something in that that's interfering?

Hey guys, need some noob help...

I just got Millenia's full pack of custom swords and they are AWESOME!!! But I would prefer to have the First Tsurugi from this model pack in place of Millenia's Ultima weapon. I have downloaded Kula's AC Cloud file and I have LGPTools, so I just need to know what files I need to replace in the battle.lgp to get the First Tsurugi sword from this to work with the rest of Millenia's weapons.

Thanks for the help!

General Discussion / Editing Textures?
« on: 2010-04-24 03:38:48 »
Hello All!

I'm eagerly awaiting the next releases from TEAM AVALANCHE and APZ FREAK (Cloud Model), but I figure in the mean time I would like to try my hand at editing the textures on the character models to make them a little prettier...

Can anyone direct me to a tutorial on how to extract to edit and then repack the texture files? I have Photoshop 7 so that's what I'd be using to edit them.

Thanks for your help! :)

Heya...

I skimmed through this post, so I don't know all the details, but I was wondering how long you think it will be till you get all the conversions done?  I think what you've done is AWESOME!!!

Troubleshooting / The APZ Cloud Project!!!!

Heya APZ

I think your model for Cloud is AWESOME!!! You've done perfect in capturing the feel of the character in my opinion.  I have a request though, and a similar one as I posted to the Team Avalanche thread: Would you mind taking the battle model you've already completed and converting it to a field model?  I like that the modders of this game want to keep the original feel of the game by making chibi field models, but I love the battle models-->field models mod in the remix patch from titeguy, and I prefer the more realistically proportioned battle models as opposed to the chibi (especially during the dialogue "cutscenes").

And two thumbs, two knees, and ten toes up on your model man!!!! it's AWESOME!!! :)

Hey guys, I have a request for this project....

Would you guys be willing to convert your battle models to field models and release them along with the chibi models? I respect keeping true to the original game with the chibi models, but I prefer the more realistically proportioned battle models (especially during dialogue "cutscenes" using the field models).  I love the battle model-->field model mod in the remix patch, so if you guys could do the same thing I would be ecstatic (even if there is some clipping, LOL)!!!!

BTW I think it's awesome that there are still fans of this game this long after its release, and I have to give you guys some HUGE PROPS for making these efforts to mod the game! I wish I had the time and ability to help with the projects, but at least I can lend you guys the support of my praise of your work! :)

Keep up the good work guys!!! :)

Oh, my bad   ;D

Well two thumbs up to them as well!!!

Thanks for replying so fast!

Glad to hear the models are in the works! I love what APZ has done with Cloud and Barret and I can't wait to see what he, or an equally talented modeller(s), can do with the rest of the cast! I have loved FF7 since my sophomore year in highschool, and hadn't picked it back up for probably 10 years or more... Then my buddies and I were talking about it this last weekend and it re-kindled the old spark. So I installed it and started playing again, and I'm a game-mod enthusiast, so I started looking and came across your Remix. Now it's like a drug and i'm HOOKED!!! LOL

As far as fiddling with the battle-->field model conversion, I'm a full time employee on top of being a full time student... so that time crunch dictates that one must wait for others to complete the work, LOL.  But thanks again for the tips and updates!!!

A parting fanatical request...

MUST HAVE NEW MODELS!!! MUST HAVE THEM NOW!!!

 :P  ;D

I'll be watching for them to come out! :D

Good Work!!!

Hey guys,

Just downloaded, installed, and tried this mod pack yesterday and LOVE IT!!!!!

haven't gone very far in the game (just to the first save point), but I LOVE the new opening FMV, love the updated graphics, cleaner music, EVERYTHING!

I have just two questions...

I know that you've said that you're going to add new models when they are finished, so...

1. Are you going to have updated player models for ALL the major characters that you haven't already? (As in Tifa, Aerith, Yuffie, Vincent, Cid, Red XIII, Cait Sith, Zack, Sephiroth and so forth....)

And in the mean time...

2. Is it possible to use the spiffy high detail models that are used in battles as the field models (kinda like what has been done in the mod already, using the old battle models as the field models, how about using the current battle models as both battle AND field models....) would this be possible to do on my own???

Thanks for your time and answers, and HYPER KUDOS to all who are involved in this project. And especially to you titeguy, because not only have you put this together, but you have CONSISTENTLY helped everyone out with their issues and questions, right up to today!!!
