Hey I was wondering doe's anyone know how to create a bitmap or BMP file from the textures used on a model in 3ds max. I am currently working on texturing some new swords for cloud in 3ds max and I can't for the life of me figure out how to create a BMP file that will use the textures I have associated with the different parts of the sword.

I don't know. Changing versions of Aali's driver really shouldn't cause that. You could try restarting your computer, that's about all I can think of.

Nope that didn't work, damn every time I fix one problem another one pops up and I was so happy yesterday when I thought I'd fixed it

Ok so I've fixed the wind problem but my out wave still isn't working and I discover that the out_ds.dll: DirectSound Output 2.2.7, never accually worked because I had the # still in place and it was the regular music that was playing so I'm back to square one

Can't remember. I wanna say it was 0.6.2b, but I'm not positive. A number of members here probably know.

Ok I tried using that version but the game crashed before the start menu so I reinstalled the newest one but now for some reason the direct sound output I used all yesterday and earlier today won't work and gives me this error message when I load my saved file

error setting directsound cooperative level, please shutdown other programs using your sound card

Is this because of me using that version or is it something else

This problem has nothing to do with FF7Music, it is actually an issue with Aali's custom graphics driver. Supposedly, using an older version should fix it, but I haven't tested that.

How old of a version do I have to use because I'd hate to f.up my game because I installed a buggy old version

Finally I got the battle model to work. What I did was take the final battle model(siaa etc) and rename them riaa etc then put them in the battle.lgp with gave me the final battle model during battle

I had this same issue and used your method to resolve it. As an addendum, an easy method for duplicating the 'final battle model' to 'battle model' can be done by the following:

Navigate to the 'final battle' folder through the Command Prompt.
copy si* rt*

I don't know why the normal battle model causes FF7 to crash. app.log only reports an unhandled exception with no additional information.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one who was having the problem but if like me you want cloud to not have scars and the black sleeve thing on his left arm like in the non final battle version what I did was take his head, left and right arm files from the regular ac cloud and copyed over the final battle versions head and arm files in the battle.lgp and it works.

No problem. I've updated my tutorial to come with out_ds.dll as a backup for people who are having trouble.

out_wave.dll is still recommended for people who aren't having problems with it, because it's faster.

Cool, also while I have you, I've been having trouble with my wind.wav. In some parts of the game I'd get an error message saying "cannot read c:\users\blahblahblah\wind.wav etc at the bottom of the page and the wind sound effect wouldn't play which I can live with but when I'm in the dessert prison and I confront the other guy with the gunarm(his name escapes me)  in which I get the same error message but the wind effect is playing for about 30 second and then the game runs extremly slowly. Since you fixed my last problem I hope you can fix this one too.

I just remembered, current versions of out_wave and out_ds don't work with FF7Music anyway.

Here's a version that should work:

http://nunzioweb.com/sawgstuff/ssold.html

Scroll down and find out_ds.dll: DirectSound Output 2.2.7, it should be under the Winamp2 Files section.

That fixed the problem completely thank you so much!!!

Do you have Winamp? If so, grab its out_ds.dll and try using that instead.

No I don't have it, do you have a link to it

Troubleshooting / Music crashing

Hi guys I've been having a problem with the FF7 music patch, I installed it fine and the music works perfectly but after a few mins(about 10 to 15) of gameplay the out_wave.dll crashes and stops responding so the music won't play which forces me to find the nearest save point(which as most of you know can sometimes take a long time) and quit with is really annoying. It's impossible to play the game properly like this and I don't want to go back to the original music because the quality sucks, so if anyone has had this problem or is just very computer savey could they please help me.

Well the easy answer is no.  Each animation file expects a certain number of bones.  If all the bones aren't there you get things like this Vincent being a ballerina.  The first half is an example of what happens when Cloud's animation is being used by Vincent.

But do feel free to create your own custom animations, Kimera is more than capable.

Cool thanks very much for the info. The reason I asked was because I want to swap Vincents battle model for Sephiroth, I know I can swap their skins using battle.lgp but I also wanted to swap their stances etc, so you say I can do it using Kimera, well then I'll give it a try.

P.S Do you have a link to where I can download it

12
If by similar process, you mean slowly rotating each individual bone frame by frame, then yes, it is similar.

I assumed it was either going to be very easy or very hard, but what I'm asking is there a way to give a characters battle stance to someone else in the party using the game files example renaming something to something else.

13
Hi guys I was wondering is it at all possible to change a characters( cloud etc) battle stances, fighting and winning animations to someone else's, for example: Sephiroth. I know you can change there look in battle by editing the battle.lgp so is it a similar process to change there animations etc.

well u cant have done the vincent event if you want to use sephy via save editor because they share something. so if you want to hack the real sephy in, dont find vincent in the mansion.

what you need is to take sephiroth's files (saaa-sada) and vincents files (sfaa-sfda)
and to change their menu icon (their faces in the menu screen) you would have to rename sephiroth's menu icon to vincent's. but i dont know which is which.

but i should warn you, that by doing this vincent will still appear on the field and have his same movements and lines, and in battle he will only look and move like sephiroth. for example, if he attacks, he will do so as the real sephiroth would, but it would be just like if you used a gun (long range and damage display)

how you can change it is make his masamune equipable for vincent. also his invincibility will be gone so to fix that you can alter one armor piece to nullify all damage.

for doing the battle changes you should use wallmarket (a program made by nfitc to change battle mechanics like armor and weapon stats, spell names, animation, and effects, etc)

Can the same be done for the field model of vincent by replacing vincents data with sephi's data in the char. file

You must mean RTAA.   Riaa is no one.

Yes that is what I meant sorry I misspelled

Well I had the APZ Cloud installed first. My original was 11140. After adding AC Cloud, it was 11142.

There may be other things affecting it that I might not know about. I installed the Final Fantasy VII Remix Patcher. Mainly because I am just WAY TOO LAZY to install each mod one by one.

That cool I guess everyone's is different depending on what mods they've installed. The reason I asked was because I'm at a loss about why the battle model causes my game to crash upon entering battle. I've used the unlgp to make it(several times) as well as highwind(also several times) but the game still crashes, with leads me to believe that something else is causing it but I've no clue what it is

That's weird because my total count is 11133, the original being 11128

could someone tell me, after adding the custom ac files to the battle.lgp what the number of files(aaaa etc) is

20
Same thing. And i dont know kind of graphics chip you have so i cant help you find one. You can try running dxdiag.exe, it should tell you what driver you need to look for.

sorry for sounding like a complete noob but how do you run dxdiag.exe

edit: nevermind I found it but it didn't really tell me much so here's my graphic card ATI radeon xpress 1150

21
The only other thing i can think of is update your video card drivers. You didnt specify what card you had but I am assuming it is an intel.

I'm not really computer savay so could you tell is the video card driver the same as the graphic card driver or is it something different and if it is where can I find and update it

Try turning off prevent rounding errors in ff7opengl.cfg

Nope still the exact same

We need to know the specs of your system. Also posting your app.log would be helpful.

OK here you are

Hi guys I got a problem I hope someone can help me with. I installed the custom graphics driver and customized the size(original I choose 1280x800) but when I went to play the game it was running extremly slow so I set it to 640x480 to see if that would speed it up but it only fixed it alittle, so I was wondering is there anything I can do.

OK now I'm really confused because using the same process as with the AC model I installed the APZ Cloud Model and it works fine so is there something I'm doing wrong with the AC model because this is really annoying
