General Discussion / Re: FF14 "Horsebird" racing!
« on: 2010-09-21 12:31:50 »
when ya think of it... our "horsebird" could be a Pegasus... that could be fun.

a game that is fun, has no emotion, and no drama? I find it hard to think of one, but Pong, Space Invaders, and Asteroids come to mind. No story at all, you just play the game. I would include pacman, but the ghosts DID steal Ms Pacman, so i guess that counts as drama. Books are the same way, if no one cared we would all be happy reading See Spot Run and never read another book.

um Space Invaders... "aliens attacking? MY PLANET?! DIE YOU SONS OF BITCHES!"

i think something like that is the emotion they were going for in that one. but true.. as for pong it must have been the joy emotion in the PvP aspect of the game. "ha! i beat you!" that kinda thing.

sorry bout that... when i quoted the image did not appear in the "quote" on my post.. so i had no idea. i should have realized it was still there though. sorry again.

anyway, as for tracing.. lol i couldnt trace that well, not to mention adding the little bits of gear. i still think impressive.

In the imaginary world where this game is made, I hope the swag is customizable like in SSX. I loved buying new snowboard gear and clothes.

For the love of.... I'm going to have to start issuing warnings to people quoting images... starting with whoever is next

and with your drawing up choco-gear your officially welcomed aboard the imaginary world train where you can help develop items/gear. heh heh.

i love your drawing there. any more? do you have a portfolio?

do i need to change something in aali's settings?

*edit* ive tinkered with a few things since posting and slapped on some backed up files.. after putting all my changed files to their backups i still have a crash but now its after the swirl upon entering battle. also i was never able to get PRP to work without using the PRP game files, gonna try and clean sweep everything eventually, its just a lot of hassle for me at the moment.

I like Third person, but I think First person would just be interesting sometimes.

The basic question would be, is it still going to be a "Stand in front and press ____" and it happens or are we looking at a cross-hair targeting system? Also, are you thinking of implementing any animations for interactive objects, such as actually reaching out to the piano when it plays or kneeling to a squeaky floorboard?

i agree. third person is just about the only way i could play a game through, but first person would be something really cool if it were like the piano scene.. in the same token, rendering that to any attempt in a 3d format would take a total rewrite and im sure the graphical aspect could be amazing but an attempt from a group like this (no offence guys i know your all great at your own thing) would just likely be a huge upset.

heh heh post its.. i would be very grateful if you did do a translate for it and hook me up. i would love to see this game. if i knew another language that would be how id be putting it to use. ill see if i can find more info on the game on the interwebs.

in other "news", ive been thinking alot about the game i envision, and am trying to come up with a world map that suits... i like alot of the mountain features of the early final fantasy saga, like mountain paths that are riddled with dead ends and pathways that lead to new areas and otherwise un-accessible locations.

just curious of all the people around here, what are some of your favorite world maps and or map features?

8
cool! thanks for the info on it, suppose the chocobo racing was similar to the chocobo racing in ff7? not like a race would be on the world map though?

9
come to think of it, the writer(s) play with this emotion a couple of times. i recall Tifa's father being killed and her outrage and subsequently clouds. you gotta wonder (and give very serious appreciation and more mushy stuff i cant bring to mind at the moment) if the producer Hironobu Sakaguchi had not decided to draw on his life at the time and put that into the games development, would we still be in such love with the game that we are (special thank you to the guys behind Qgears for bringing this information to my attention).

i can imagine running through the opening bombing run mission in first person view now...

can we get a "demo" of the bombing mission similar to the original ff7demo how it had just the single mission?

11
point taken. but if it had something like a big banner before you click submit, or even before you put your personal information in.

12
I dont recall when i SIGNED UP for the forum.. but was there not a disclaimer straight away when signing up that such pirated and illegal software support was not allowed? If not.. would it be possible to just add a big "We cant/wont give any assistance with these types of issues." upon signup?

A wild HEADCRAB approaches! Command?
Run away!

Attempt failed. you die.

Heh Heh, i could see something like this being the method, however attacks from behind and such would be quite interesting, you cant always just stumble upon something, they have to take the initiative to attack you too.

Holy was summoned, but was being blocked by the original Sephiroth, the "Sephiroth" that killed Aeris was one of his lackey puppets. What did him in was underestimating how far Cloud and company would grow in power before the final showdown, if he was truly smart he would have finished them off with the puppet himself on the ship between Junon and Costa Del Sol.

indeed, but that would make for a lousy game. :P

I was brainstorming last night.. as i do... and had a thought:

What if (huge if) there was a multi-player Final Fantasy game, that was JUST for capturing, breeding, training and hence forth racing chocobos around the world. I post this idea openly because i have no idea how to make it happen, or even get the idea to the right people who could possibly put it into works. Thinking about it last night, i had an image of two people playing Head-to-Head in a chocobo race around a world map trail featured on the western continent on which Wutai is located in Final Fantasy VII.

Starting out as a rookie chocobo hunter, one could capture chocobos from different locations of a world map, then take them back to the ole farm and feed, breed, train and take care of their "pets". After feeling confident in their birds capabilities they could enter into multi-player races ranging from a circuit around Midgar, to a full blown rally around the continent.

If anyone knows of something similar to this already being available or in the works, information about it would be much appreciated. Anyone who knows a game designer, or a forum in which to deliver my ideas and talk them out with someone capable of putting this into a possible project are most welcome to comment.

16
Anyway... back to the topic... Had Sepiroth not killed Aeris, could she have in fact summoned Holy, or was it Sepiroth's killing of Aeris that was the lynch pin for allowing his own defeat?

17
as painful as starting from NOTHING on a project like this would be... i think that would be a very good way to go at this. simply having something like a similarly shaped peninsula can really hurt... having the same continents and islands is just begging for trouble.

18
hey guys, new (aka please forgive) as per the discussion about the EULA i think this would fall more under the catagory of proprietary code?  and about the very idea this post started out as (creating a "reload" function) what about trying to tie the new feature into the actual saved games location rather than the very first screen (new game, continue). from what i read it seemed that you were trying to put the continue button on the menu, when i would think that you only want the list of saved games there.

anyway i think im going around in circles.
