General Discussion / How fast did you beat FFVII?
« on: 2004-12-22 07:39:25 »
Me for FF7, 60+ hours. Actually blue_heart86's 20-hour finishing time isn't that all unimaginable, as once me and my friends had a challenge to see who could finish FF8 the quickest. My record's 15 hours and something minutes. Naturally, I won. :D My usual finishing time though is far far greater, if I remember correctly, the time counter for my game actually changed colour to red and was no longer incrementing as I've reached the trackable limit (which I believe was 99:59... not sure on this though, have to check).

Well since I made it through FF8 in such short a time I'm guessing it's also possible in FF7. Mind you I did nothing that was unecessary. Always using roads, renting cars, no side-quests, and loading if anyone dies. It was fun though. Maybe I should try it too for FF7.

You know, 'animation' doesn't just pertain to cel animation.

FMVs are animations.
CG's are animation.

In that line of thinking, movies and even the shows you watch on tv are all techinically 'animations'.

but yuna is the hottest  :wink:

i couldn't agree any better :love::love::love:. i personally like her in ffx2's Gunner and Songstress outfit, and also Lady Luck.

her wedding costume is really nice too (in ffx). she kinda looks different, but it's in a good way.

ffx's one of the best games i played, but imo, nothing beats ff8. especially the story. i guess second to that, i like ffx's and kingdom hearts'. ^_^

CVS stands for 'Concurrent Versions System'. Overly-simplified, it basically allows a team of developers to work on one project at the same time without worrying about versioning conflicts regarding the specific module they are working on (well, almost).

Err... I hope I was understood. My English is not really very good, is it? English isn't really my primary language, so sorry 'bout that. ^_^;

Yup, my point exactly. ^_^;

I see. Actually, that is the method I have been using. But I wanted to believe there was an easier method; swapping images when I need new discs ain't exactly difficult but it's a hassle. Anyway, thank you. I'll still continue to search if the easier method is possible.

I think it would be great. Interested people (such as me) can continue long-delayed projects, to improve it and add conceived features that the original developer didn't quite accomplish.

Maybe we can have a cvs here. Something like SourceForge. What do you think?

Hm. It doesn't really seem as if there is copy protection. I attempted to copy it (via Windows Explorer), no errors. I also tried making a backup of the CD with CloneCD and it didn't give me any bad sectors (which is a good sign of copy protection).

Or am I mistaken?

Would this actually work? I have done a full install of the game, but I still note fractions of a second delays when playing FMV's, new sound effects, etc.

This shouldn't normally happen, as I have a very high-end machine, so I suspected that it is the drive loading the files from the CD. Sure enough, it was.

I have read about 70% of all posts in this forum, but none seems to address my question. If it has been asked before, then can someone point me there? Thanks.

Also, some screenshots of FF8 given here had quite a high amount of aliasing. This was my problem also on my old desktop as well, but now (on my laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, Pentium 4 3.2GHz with HT) everything looks real nice, well at least nicer.

Anyway, yah. Can anyone help me? I really hope this can be done. I tried copying it to various directories within the FF8 installation folder, but none seems to work (of course I may have missed something, or it actually worked but I was just too frustrated to notice). Thanks again!
