I thought the FF7 Ultra Edition with the music patch was already 1 CD? That's a really good release. Not only does it come with the music patch, but the goodies folder as well.

Wait, I don't get it. What can I do with these 2 programs? Why are they useful?

I look at these kinda law suits as breaking our first ammendment, I really do..

So FF7 looks for the right size. Isn't there a way to make it so it doesn't care about the file size?
Seems to me like there's only small possibilitys. If there's hope at all, then you can turn small hope into big hope.
Hey, maybe those CT guys can give advice.
I also know someone who's a pro at that Maya program and works at a college. Maybe I'll ask him about stuff.

Cool, any links to those models?

Oh, and how foolish of me:

Might have been brought up before but just in case...

I noticed that you can hack a model and make it better, hence the new hi-res Cloud model. But what if you make it good enough to look like an FF12 model? Is that possible?

Same with making that Cloud field model where you see a taller Cloud outside of battles. Make it look PS2 quality.
Gotta be possible, right?
It may look funny cause you're having PS2 quality models fight against PS1 outdated graphics, but hey it's worth it. And if you wanna go crazy, then update all the monsters heh.

If you think I'm crazy, you should check out those guys who are remaking Chrono Trigger. So far it's PS2 quality and looking great.
Just a project I thought you guys might think of doing. I'd do it but I'm no expert at this stuff so excuse my ignorance if I don't know the true meaning of how hard this is.

I planned on making an uncensored patch but no one cared enough, and I'm busy working at the New York Film Academy which works you to death.

General Discussion / More Final Fantasy VII?
« on: 2004-07-27 00:19:25 »
Know what I want the most? Simply a prequel-middle-sequel game.
The prequel part will explain everything but I'd like to combine the entier Before Crises game in it so we get the whole Shinra/Turks background. Mix it with Cloud as a member in Shinra and Soldier, etc.
Then we get the whole regular FF7 game.
Then a sequel. Maybe not a sequel, maybe just a much longer ending sequence that will explain enough for you to say "oh, everything is solved, every question is answered, I'm happy now". And I want all this for the PS3 instead of an FF13 since they don't seem to know how to make FF games anymore. I think they stopped making good FF games since 9. Absolutely nothing good was made since 9. Everyone loved FFX though, but every other sucked.

What are you saying? Japan sells not only the FF5 sound track, but crazy random remixes with vocals.
Don't forget that Anthologies comes with a soundtrack contaiing FF5 and FF6 songs.

General Discussion / FF8 PC vs PSX Emu
« on: 2004-07-15 23:20:30 »
Big enough mofo computer.
AMD Athlon XP 2200 1.35 GHz 1.50 GB of RAM. All in Wonder Radeon 8500DV.

Yes, loading as in the time it takes to load a new screen (like entering a new area -- like when you enter a place from the field or when you walk into a house) Loading a battle takes just as long still. That long black screen when you enter a battle.... ugh.
It loads exactly like the psx version no more or less.

Even when it's set to low quality mode, it's still the same (actually it's worse since I lose graphics and such).

« on: 2004-07-15 04:43:20 »
Damn, it doesn't fix the loading at all. FF9 is just a slow game no matter what, and this means FF8 will load slow as well. Gonna have to find FF8 for the PC again....
Which is too bad, cause I just found out how to configure it to run perfectly on the emulater.

Ah crap, I lost the PC version and I'm too lazy to download it and too cheap to buy it. I'll just use the emulater. On the bright side at least I get surround sound, and better quality FMV's.
What do you guy's prefer anyway? FF8 on emulater or PC?

Thanks. I'll toy around with the options.
Um, what patch do I download for FF8? There's so many of them and I'm just confused.

General Discussion / FF8 PC vs PSX Emu
« on: 2004-07-14 05:43:24 »
Is FF8 better for the PC, or the emulater?
I remember trying both and the PC version is perfect except for that damn music problem. Did anyone create a patch for that yet like for FF7? I hate .midi's.
Is it possible at ALL for FF8 to play FLAWLESSLY on the PS emulater? My sister wants to start a new game but I don't want to play on my PS2 cause it loads slow and I already went through the whole game already and now my damn sister wants to start from scratch...   :isee:
I remember trying it on the emulater and I couldn't get it to work perfectly, it was either running at super speed, or there were some missing graphics, etc. Does it just have to be configured perfectly? Or is FF8 impossible for the emulater? If so, I'll just wait for a music patch for the PC....

How about FF9? My sister needs to finish that game and FF9 loads slower than any FF game I have ever played. Its slowness makes me fusterated enough to scream in my berserker rage.  Can FF9 work well on the PC?

And last... my ATI (capture/tv out-in) plug broke, so I can't hook it to my tv... I can get another one right? Or do I have to buy a whole new card just for the plug? The damn pins in the plug are so fragile that they broke....

14
Sound is off synch in FMVs, and the music suddenly stops, and returns every few minutes or if it switches to another music track. It was working fine before....

Helpz mez?

I did try it.
I thought "Cool, just load each thing and change every line, looks simple enough".
So I IMed my friend talking about how easy it is since he's a computer noob and he wouldn't have to worry about a thing and he said he would be interested in doing it.

So you guys would accept both an uncensored patch and a spoof patch?

General Discussion / Favorite FF game
« on: 2004-06-02 05:38:38 »
Can't decide between 7 or 8, depends on mood. Just put them both in 1st. They had great character development. 8 had the best romance, 7 was a tragedy, the boss in 7 is the BEST and you just gotta love Squall and his development through the game, especially the ending. You can really compare Cloud and Squall.

FFT: Simply because it was ADDICTING AS HELL!
FF6 Classic: brings back memories, fun as hell and great character development.
FFX: Crappy story, even my sister agreed. She figured out the ending at the very beginning while Tidus was still narrarating. Which took about 8 minutes. I guess I enjoyed the way it was so addicting. The romance wasn't that bad either. But the best romance goes to Squall and Rinoa in FF8.
FF4: First FF game, true classic- fun characters, great catchy music. Fun loving game!
FFX-2: Um.... what the hell were they thinking? If I wanted to I could beat it by playing the import because the story was so bad and simple, I was able to understand it even though it was all in Japanese. Why are they wearing skanky outfits? I'm not in the mood to jerk off, I want a good story with typical FF romance!
FF9: Not bad until the 3rd disc. It became horrid. Nothing ever developed....
FF11: Interesting... giant world you can easily get lost in, play with Japanese people, and be bored after a half hour. I wish I can give it another chance and be able to play with a friend online, but it looks like the same crap over and over. Pay 12 a month? Fuck you, I'm not paying for a mediocre game!
FF5: Do I care yet? Do I care yet? Just like 9, nothing develops.
FF Mystic Quest: I used to have fun with it, but there was nothing else to it. Just a little unknown FF game.
FF3: Onions make my breath smell bad. So do onion knights smell bad? I bet they never shower. I never played this game much, but I'll give it another shot.
FF2: Never played much.
FF1: There's no story and Square failed to make one. I'll wait for the GBA release which I doubt will be any better anyway. But it saves me from working on a game when a better version will come out soon.
FF legends: Old gameboy game I played at my friend's house on his old big fat GB. It's not even FF they just named it FF but I'm putting it on the list just to be a dick and show off how I played every FF game including the ones no one ever played. Hated it. Hard to remember...
Legends 2 3 and Adventures: Same.
FF's for NES: Sorry, I can handle SNES graphics, but not NES.

Ya know.. you never know shit about Cloud's parents. All you know is that Cloud is the new kid when he moves to Tifa's town.
Try to think of a story about his dad. You never see his dad ever.

No one make a story about the Turks cause thats what the FF7 Before Crises game will be about.

I know pretty much everything about FF7, I bet I could come up with something good.

Make an FF7 uncensored patch?
It's a simple dumb patch really, all it does is uncensor all the cursing.
See Cid and Barret in their uncensored berserker glory.
So %#$@! will be changed to: Fuck!

My friend is also thinking of redoing the whole script and make a funny script like those spoof patches you see floating around for SNES roms (mostly FF6).
Would you guys want any of these two?

General Discussion / Your stats!
« on: 2004-05-31 17:05:14 »
Hey, since I can edit my stats now. I'm trying to get back what I lost. I'm using a saved game that's maxed out so it's no fun.
I'm trying to edit them to level late 30's early 40's-ish.
I'm up to where you first snowboard, the icicle area in the start of disc 2.
What are your stats for your characters at that time?
If you're too lazy, you can just put in Cloud's and I'll try to work my way around there.

If this thread is too stupid, then think of it as a competition or a way to brag about how good your stats were when you were at disc 2.

Oh, I figured it out.
The instructions the editor had was terrible.
You're told to open the path of where the saved games are, but instead you're only supposed to choose the FF7 folder, not the saved games folder.....
So about changing the music to what I want...
EDIT: Aw man, it works! FINALLY! Now I can get back to what I was doing many months ago....
But now I gotta edit the stats... that's gonna take a long time....   :isee:

I can't figure out how to use character editor.
I open the path where my saved games are, but it doesn't do anything after I choose my Save folder. It doesn't show a list of my saved games or anything.

Oh yeah, and I tried to replace a song with the orchestrated version of it, but when the game reaches the part, it doesn't play any music. What do I do?

« on: 2004-05-31 00:36:02 »
Hi, I'm new.
About me: Been playing FF7 since 5th grade (11th grade now). I recently discovered that the PC version has new music cause one of you guys made a patch. Good work! This encouraged me to play the PC game. Then I found more patches on the net like fix all the block hands, and the high res Cloud model. It all seems great, I get to play my favorite game with a whole new experience.

Anyway.

My save got deleted so I'm playing the PC version now and downloaded my part but the problem is, everyone is maxed out and the game is not fun since it's easy now. I want to edit it! I'm using Jenova, there's no problem, but I can't edit their levels. They stay at level 99 no matter what!
The enemies are dying in one lousy hit. BORING! I tried other FF7 trainers but they don't do what I want. And I can't figure out how to use character editor. I choose the folder where my saved games are and then nothing else happens. Am I blind and missing something?

Another thing, I heard about the FF7 Remake. How's that going along?
Are any of you guys working on any patches? I would like to make one but I'm no pro at this kind of stuff. What other cool stuff is being made at the moment?
My sister likes FF8 and would like to play it again. Any cool FF8 patches to download?
Oh, and is it possible to rip the FF7 FMV's from the psx version and replace em with the crappily compressed PC version's?
