Hacking a PSP...
« on: 2010-06-20 19:25:26 »
Anyone have a .rif editor or know of where I can get one? The reason being I have a PSP and they don't have some of the games that I want, so, obviously, I want to hack the current PSP version. I believe I almost have it, I just need a .rif editor, so anyone that knows of one or has one, please let me know, and if successful, I will post how to do it for anyone interested.

You're hacking it cause you dont have some of the games you want  :? Well bud, unfortunantly I don't want to illegally give you free games. So now would you mind freely shoving off ya bloody merda...

He said "they", so my assumption would be that he wants to be able to convert legally owned PSX games into PSP format that are not for sale on PSN where you buy games you already own. But that's just me.

Rip to iso and use popsloader on the psp. Yes it works, and no i will not tell you how to hack your psp.

edit: Btw i am not sure this question is even relevant on this forum. FF7 and FF8 are both available on the playstation network.

Just out of curiosity, why do people feel a need to use POPSLoader?  I've been in the PSP scene since 1.50 was all there was, that being said, I never felt a need to use popsloader once

The only reason I wanna do it because I legally own copies of the games I wanna put on it, but just not sure how to get around the whole license issue since they don't have the games on the Playstation network. Also, doesn't poploader work only with hacked psps?

1) the solution is to hack your PSP

2) Yes POPSloader only works with hacked PSPs (but as I said before, I can't grasp the point of POPSloader, never had any need to use it.  I mean, I know what it does, but I've never run into issues that made me need to use it)

3) There is no reason to not hack your PSP

4) I'm more than willing to hack your PSP and convert your games for you

Well, that would be awesome, though I should warn you that my PSP is version 6.20 firmware

Is it a Fat PSP (PSP-1000) Slim PSP (PSP-2000) or Brite PSP (PSP-3000)

That is all that matters to me

Let's just say he has a psp 3001 with the same firmware, would you be able to do anything other than the Patapon exploit?

It's the PSP brite, so I dunno if there's a way to hack it.

I believe there is a way to hack it. I know someone who was going to hack mine for me (it's a PSP 3001) but I don't swing that way. Point is, I'm not 100% sure, but it's not unheard of.

The only way I know of hacking a psp 3000 series is through the Hbl loader and the patapon exploit, you can run a few homebrew apps and some of the emus work, they say the loader will definitly never load isos so I'm guessing it won't support popsloader.

I don't think  Chickhen can work on firmware 6.20, I've never tried, but I've never heard of anyone succeeding.

PSP-3000 series with a firmware greater than 5.03 can not be hacked at the current time.  HOWEVER, this probably won't last much longer, as a Kernel exploit has been found in 6.20 (on the GO anyway)

Yeah but last I checked, the guy wasn't planning on publicly releasing his exploit, so who knows where that's gonna go.

Exactly. So unless someone actually has a way around it that they are willing to post for others, then we're basically boned unless we know a way to do it ourselves.

I chill on the lan.st forums sometimes, so I know the guy, and I know the stuff that goes on there.  Main reason for not releasing it, is A) it's not developed enough to use to make a HEN or CFW right now and B) Sony could EASILY patch it.

A bit more work has to be done on it, and believe me it's being done.  The guy's using it right now to poke around the Go without use of a hardware debugger, and he's pulling up some interesting stuff.  That being said, down the road, it will either be released, OR, will lead to another exploit that won't be so easy to patch

Well, I hope that happens soon. I mean, I'm tired of not being able to play what I what on my PSP, especially since I own the copies of the discs.
