Severe music delay with ff7 music + lessdebug
« on: 2011-10-22 16:53:15 »
Hi, this is my first time playing through the game not on console. I finally got everything working (wow, the new models for the main characters are absolutely amazing!), but I have one issue. Even with the "lessdebug" patch, I still get a 3-7 second delay the majority of times when the music switches. In addition to that, sometimes a track would not load at all, so there would be no music until a switch. I fiddled around with the options and that seems to be fixed (think turning off the "resume" function did the trick), but the very annoying delay is still there.

a) Are there more entries I need to put in to the lessdebug config? Where can I see a log of the errors?
b) Is this a common problem with some common fixes I can try?
c) Worst case scenario, how do I revert to loading the game without ff7 music?

I'm using windows xp, and I'm using in.mad.dll and out.wave.dll with the mp3 profile selected.

Also, two unrelated questions, is there a way to make the battle/dialogue frames/text smaller? They seem huge. And, is there a way to make "run" the default option and "walk" the active option? That would be neat  :P

Thanks very much!

in_mad and out_wave should both have buffering options that you may be able to set lower.

I tried fiddling around with those, it made the music not work at all  :o

How do I revert to the music that the game came with? Executing ff7 runs ff7music, and the readme says you need to run ff7music then the game. Should I just delete the entire ficedula folder? I don't see an uninstall.

edit: removing the ficedula folder from my ff7 folder removed the music, but adding a "#" in the opengl config next to the music plugin worked. I can see why people hate the soundtrack on the pc version, but it beats having 5 second delays every time and never hearing "fanfare." Oh well.
