Shinra Building 65th floor crash

When I open the last chest on floor 65 of the Shinra HQ, I get an error message, and boss music starts, along with a crash of the game.

I'm running bootleg and anxious heart. The game mode is just vanilla, no hardcore or anything. I have searched around the internet and found people with the same problem, but with no clear solution. I'm playing the 2012 re-release converted to the 1998 version, with mounting discs and stuff.

Here's my PC specs:
AMD phenom ii x4 BE 965
AMD radeon 6970
12gb ram
M4A9XTD EVO mobo
blah blah hard drive and other stuff

Let me know if you need any more information, I didn't see a sticky thread saying what should be posted in troubleshooting threads like this.

I'm having the same exact problem. The battle will initiate then crash before the boss shows up.
I've been troubleshooting for a couple of hours. Can't seem to figure out why it is crashing at this particular part of the game.

It has happened to me there before now.  Obv some sort of bug.

I ended up bypassing it by putting the save file in a vanilla game with no mods installed. Got the keycard in the vanilla game with no boss battle error. I then saved the game at a save point, and used that save file for the game with mods installed.

A rather troublesome way of getting pass this bug, but hey I can continue forward with the game now. If you don't want two installs of FF7on your computer, you could also try using "Black Chocobo" and warping your character to the 66th floor.

That's very unusual. You should try this out:
Download this file - blin65_1 (I have extracted it from an english flevel.lgp)
Download Makou Reaktor, if you not already have it.
Now you have to open Makou Reaktor and load your flevel.lgp. Search for blin65_1.
As next click on the file button and choose 'Import the current field' - search for the file you have downloaded.
Install everything and save the changes. Done.
