Does a LZS decompressor/compressor exist?

Do you guys have any specs on a LZS file and how to decompress it, because I might get a friend of mine to make one if one doesn't already exist.... If you can help, then thanks!

Yes, and yes.

My webpage (ficedula.cjb.net) contains a command-line compressor/decompressor (FFLZS). It also contains a description of how LZS compression works. However, the description is out-of-date and is not 100% accurate - so don't use it to build your own LZS routines! The program itself is now up to date, IIRC, so that's safe to use.

If you want source code, the source for Cosmo should contain LZS routines, as does the source for some of Qhimm's programs.

Yes! There is an actual LZS compresser/decompresser.

Hey, I've used LZS before, from unzipping FKiss Doll files, hence, I know a program which does compress, and decompress those files, yup, that's right, it does exist! Dun dun dern! *coughs* well anyway, here's the link:

http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar300.exe

After installing that, you'll need a crack for it to work longer than it's evaluation duration, which is easy to find at:

http://www.cracks.am

(Watch out for the annoying porn pop-ups)

All you have to do is search for winrar v3.00, or whatever version you have downloaded. (Should be v3.00, as I saw it there just not)

Mmm, I smell FOOWD downstairs, dinner time!

1: Thanks, but there's One thing I forgot to mention...  :P

I want to decompress the Playstation LZS files.... are they the same, and is this command line right for your Decompressor Fice:

FOLDER> LZS.EXE -D CLOUD.LZS

Or is it that it just doesn't decompress Playstation files?

2: WinRAR decompresses LZS files?! - I thought it only did LZH, JAR, RAR, ZIP, and a few others *not LZS or LXS*

Playstation LZS files?

Yeah, WinRAR decompresses LZS files (At least mine does), it does alot of file formats, but I don't know about Playstation files, and what's this about using command-line? All you have to do once you've installed WinRAR is just double-click the compressed file, and it'll open it just like a folder, then you do what you want from there onwards.

You can try decompressing Playstation .LZS files, but it maynot be a compressed file, it might be just a pure data file that the game uses, hence, not all file types from a Playstation game complies with the standard Personal Computer version.

I actually tried that a long time ago. However, the standard LZS format and the FF7 LZS format are too different for it to work. You'd be better off using one of Fice's or Qhimm's progs for that.

Ohh, sorry, there I go, blabbing off about WinRAR being able to compress/decompress .LZS files *Next time I'll not drink as much Vodka & Coke before typing up a post to help someone, lol* No, it can't handle the LZS format, I tried looking for one too, but nothing at all.

There maybe a way that LZS files can be decompressed with WinRAR, by copying the files to your HD, and changing the file-type to a known compressed file format (Like LZH, which I did get mixed up with LZS for some reason) but I highly doubt that it'd work, you can give it a shot, you never know till you try, but I agree with Seph: I do think you're better off using one of Qhimm's programs.

Anyway, sorry again about the 'Trés faux' information I gave you *I just realised my mistake after the internet was turned off last night*

*Imagines a giant throw-switch, labeled "Internet ON" on top, and "Internet OFF" on bottom.*

*Throws the switch a few times, watching everyone's internet go off and on again. Laughs hystarically.*
