people talk about fixing the black lines or green haze on nvidia chipsets..
anyone know good settings for the radeon 8500 ??
with the lastest drivers ...

I dunno exactly where the setting is for ATI, but, try and find the FSAA setting and disable it. That, it my experience, is the #1 cause of lines across the backgrounds of FF7.

anisotropic filtering
is that similar to FSAA youre talking about ?
and there is also ...
smoothvision
texture preference
mipmap detail level
wait for vertical sync

You should turn anisotropic filtering and smooth vision off.
