Did you try using the 1.02 patch, with the "nVidia" and "TNT" boxes checked?

Sound like a bad disk.

The TNT patch is for the 8bit fail thing.... But I don't think a failed 8bit pallet would give you those type of errors. Although I guess I could be wrong, my experence is only with G2 cards.

a missing 8bit pallet used to just gives you  black backgrounds on G2 cards (characters would be on a black screen...no background scenery). That is, until you used the TNT patch. But that's a thing of the past on the Nivida's drivers. They fixed their 8 bit pallet on their drivers. I dont' know about ATI's.

But I've heard about that type of crash before....and it was a bad disk. I can't remember if it was a bad install disk, or a game disk..... it was one of the two, but on a Geforce card....

I have a Radeon 7000, and while the drivers don't support paletted textures at all, I do remember getting it working absolutely fine with the NVidia 1.02 patch, and a bit of tweaking in the control panel. Not tried it in XP yet, though.

Okay. I had to install the soundfonts manually, through Creative AudioHQ (the Control Panel subpanel that comes with newer creative cards). And while I'm not acusing you of anything, I know the popular Warez version of FF7 doesn't come with sound effects. Again, not accusing you, this just reminded me... also... isn't that battle the 'Sumimasen!' Location, accessable through Qhimm's Jenova?

umm it did come with the soundfonts...it just didnt work cuz i have xp it says this installation is for windows 95 only then it says insufficient memory, but any clue on how i could change this? oh and everything works fine, except for the sounds...wen i test it in config it works fine too but once i get in the game, no sound only music, and in my data/sounds directory both files audio.fmt and audio.dat are o bytes...i just need a place to get the full files for them....
