It's found here: http://ffsf.cjb.net/. The FF7 music plays well at first, but it starts skipping and gets very bad. Also, is there anyway to get the music to repeat? I checked the repeat box in FF7music but....

Anyway, thanks for your help!

I can tell you this much already...you're not having problem with a soundfont. FF7music has nothing to even do with soundfonts. It was made so people without soundfont capabilities could use mp3's or psf's to have music when they are unable to use the soundfont. Tell me this...

What input/output plugins are you using?
What are your system specifications? (cpu speed, ram, anything else you feel is relevant)
Did you read the file "effort notice.txt"? It includes all the directions...it's practically flawless.
What files are you playing that you say are stuttering?

Also, there is no way for the music to repeat when you check the "loop custom files" box. As it says in "effort notice.txt" included in the package. And I quote..

Quote from: Effort Notice.txt
Hell, the looping function doesn't even work anyways. Have it checked just for kicks.

You must set the psf plugin to play the songs forever...which I also included in the effort notice. That is...if you are even using the psf's. And yes, I'm the guy who put the package together, along with Aaron's help. And of course cheers to Ficedula, the writer of ff7music.

Now, I don't blame you at all if you didn't read "effort notice.txt", because it really doesn't seem like it's readme material. I bet that you used readme.txt that came with. That was the readme that came with ff7music, and it's insufficient for this specific package. I'm gonna have that fixed to reduce future confusions.

I am playing the PSF s included with the package (the original FF7 music).

Input plugin is highly experamental v2.03 ,
output plugin is Nullsoft direct sound plugin v2.0

My soundcard, and I imagine the problem is this, is Creative Labs Soundblaster 16pci  :z . Also, my processer is AMD 550mhz.

Well, thanks for your help!

Can you play the psf's in winamp without stuttering? Well, if there's no stuttering, try having winamp running while ff7 (no ff7music) is playing. Then get back to me.

I think it's your cpu having problems. I imagine it's a k6-2.

Yep, its a K-6

Its a K-6... that must be the problem... :z
The PSFs play OK in winamp.
I cant play winamp in the backround, as my soundcard cant play multiple streams.
I also noticed that the problem mostly happens when it plays the battle theme,(not the boss theme) and the bombing mission theme. But these play OK in winamp...

Also, I noticed somthing, I am not sure if it has to do with FF7, or my sister messing around with the comp, but this error message comes up each time I quit FF7(and only then):

FF7 caused an invalid page fault in

Sigh... why do K-6 s suck so much??? I want my money back!

K6-2's are quite old models. Like the cyrix cpu, it tends to not be optimized for directx-dependant software. Or so I've observed. I have used both models in the past and I was very displeased with them. But at least they run most things. I doubt that software mode ff7 in 640x480 is anywhere near standable speedwise on your computer, considering the k6-2 is more of a value cpu.

As for the error when you exit...I has something to do with your directsound output plugin. It's probably a new one with crossfading. FF7music always has problems with these newer directsound output plugins. I would suggest trying a wave output...or else an older directsound plugin. Which I can easily give you.

Well, I am running in 640x480 in quarter screen Direct 3d mode, and the game runs very well. The sound just skips. Could you give me the wave output? Please post a link to it.

[EDIT]
Actually, could I manipulate the settings in FF7 music (like the bffer length) to make it skip less?

Thanks,
Sam
