a question about biturn
« on: 2003-07-05 02:11:03 »
hey, I have a question about biturn, when I converted reno's model  that I ripped from the game, it didn't show it colored at all or textured at all. what's up with that?

It's b'cause the FF7 engine uses vertex and polygon colors, and textures are used only for special parts as eyes, mouth or tatoos. But: only few data formats and 3d modellers support vertex colors (3ds max, lightwave)

I was going to say exactly that, but in a much stupider way. Thank you, Alhexx, for making me not look stupid :)

Strange, it should show at least some colors. What format did you convert it to ? (probably it has no materials support)

If you want nice models, just like those in the game, only way is to save models into LWO6+ format, and to load it in some program which fully supports this format (like Lightwave).
Else it should save the models at least with flat shading materials.

And textures are supported only for LWO6+ format at this time. Sorry for that.

im working on newer version which supports .3DS textures, better export for .OBJ, but its not tested enough yet so i will release it later.
