FAQ addition idea...

Hi!

I'm sure a lot of you all know that each problem encountered on the forums has users with different hardware all the time. So... I propose that a spreadsheet be made, showing what needs to be edited and tweaked with different hardware settings. For example, a page could be dedicated to graphics cards, and each model, if applicable, can have the seettings needed to run the game properly! What do you all think?

Not a bad idea, except that theres litteraly millions of different configurations possible, what, with different hardware, memeory types, operating systems, and drivers... ugh =/

Still, no one said it couldn't be a work in progress.

I think we should all post our computer stats, and list any and all problems we have with FF7, and work up from there....

CURRENT SYSTEM:
AMD XP 2000+ oc'd to 2 Ghz
64 mb GeForce2 mx/mx 400, Driver version 53.03 (Allows for AA, unlike later versions in my experience).
Soundblaster LIVE! 5.1, driver v. 3509.1.0.0
DirectX 9.0b
Win XP pro
786 mb ram
Logitec Dual Action joypad

FF7:
Full install, w/ movies playing off the HD
V 1.02 (chocobo and geforce compatability patch)
A.S.'s Hand Patch v. 1
Dreakons High-res Cloud patch
Bugs: Super fast cycle chases (duh =P), Occassional battle crash.  Some FMVs go too fast, such as when Barret and Dyne lose their hands.
Notes: FF7 looks better than ever before and runs great, but i'm considering getting a shit system to play ff7 on if these battle crashes keep occuring.

Also, if i remember my old systems correctly...

OLD SYSTEM 1:
Intel pentium 250 mhz
Win 95
somwhere between 32 and 128 megs of ram
Voodoo3 2000
Soundblaster Live 5.1 (old drivers)
DirectX 5-7 at various points.
Gamepad PRO controller

FF7:
Full install only
Bugs: Occasional movie crash: solved by playing the offending movie in Windows a few times first.  Some movieswould also run painfully slow and out of synch.
Notes: Pretty much the kind of system ff7 PC was meant to be run on, excpet for that annoying movies crash (offedning FMVs: Biglight, Jariofal [tiny bronco getting shot down], Movie where you first enter Junon).

Voodoo 3 2000/later swapped then got rid of a Matrox 4000 (?)
Soundblaster Live 5.1 (yeah, i did a looooot of upgrading, lol)

FF7:
Full install
Bugs: Speedy bike bug.  Some fmvs slow down.
Notes: Both video cards worked eqully well for ff7, but the matrox got the boot cuz it wouldn't run anything else as well as the voodoo =P

Anyway, Xerioxi's idea is pretty good.  If someone wants to make a spreadsheet, then it can certainly be added.  I might be able to do it when I have some time (in a couple weeks when I'm done with school).

An they could use the Bolt Cataslyst drivers or the Omega drivers if they want too

Well I didn't realise it was already in the FAQ. But I do get a lot of people PM'ing me asking me about their Radeon problems... and 90% of the time they just need to upgrade from 3.8 or run the Omega drivers. You don't need to change things I guess...
