For some reason, when I'm at the Crater for the first time, right at the end when all the Weapons appear, the video crashes after awhile, which then crashes the whole game. I've had this problem once before, during the gondola ride at the Gold Chocobo, but I was able to get past it after one retry. However, this time I've already retried it 4 times, without success (which is really frustrating, because each time I have to go through all of the sequences again). I'm thinking this might be some sort of problem with playing very long videos, since otherwise I have no video problems at all. There is no error message associated with this problem, it just goes straight to desktop. I'm gonna try copying the movies to disk, and see if that works.
EDIT: Nope, that doesn't seem to have fixed it. It always seems to crash at about the same point though: Right when Diamond (I think it's Diamond, anyway) Weapon starts climbing out. One time it got slightly farther, but not by more than 5 seconds. Since copying it to hard drive didn't work... I'm thinking this is a game problem. Next thing I'm gonna try is running it in a lower resolution.
EDIT: Well, changing the resolution "fixed" it, but I'm not sure fi that's because it actually fixed the problem. When I changed resolutions it sped up the game alot, so maybe it just didn't have to run for as long (I never had a problem with short videos). Also,t he movies themselves naturally run in the smaller screen size, so that could be a part of it. Now that I've gotten past that movie, I'm gonna switch it back to my earlier settings (god the game looks awful with that resolution

) and hope it doesn't happen again. As for the codecs... since I couldn't install it from CD (for whatever reason... see the problems installing post) I'm not sure if that was the problem. D/led the upside-video patch, but that didn't seem to do anything anyway.
