Movies don't work at the end

I went down to the path to sephiroth and the background green water would stop the program almost completely. Then I did the movies on the hard drive thing, but now there was no green water in the background at all. That was fine, but after I beat Jenova the next movie didn't play and the game didn't continue - I saw just a black screen. What file is supposed to play? Maybe I could try copying it again. Without the movies on my HD I wouldn't even get as far as Jenova, though.

The green water is a movie, so if you're not seeing it, you're probably right about it being a movie problem. It's either last4_2.avi or last4_3.avi that should be playing...I haven't been able to figure out which yet. So make sure both of them work. They're both under 1MB. After that, last4_4.avi is the next movie (11.6MB, possible spoilers.) During the scene after, lastmap.avi should be playing, and at some point, during the same scene, lastflor.avi (spoilers) will play. It could be any of those.

last4_4.avi is the likely culprit, though.

last4_2 gives an error, too
I guess disc 4 is scratched or something, let me check
I saw a few particles of dirt on it and washed it let me try it out

Well still can't copy last4_2.avi (I guess that's the green stuff) but I think I might be able to copy other things that prevent me from finishing the game
OMG can't copy last4_4.avi either
it makes explorer.exe crash or cyclic redundancy check error message
using Windows XP...

last4_2 and last4_3 seem to me are the background ones and are unimportant
last4_4 is the one that doesn't allow me to make it through the game

The file sizes for the first two files are under a MB, the other one is 11.2 MB

If you compress the bigger one I think you can even send it from a yahoo account (10 MB attachment maximum)

I just replaced some other movies for the movies in question so that let me beat the game

Yeah, sounds like your disk is scratched or something, and windows couldn't read it.  Renaming different movies was probably the best solution =/
